It's that time yet again, folks -- Sony has released another all-important PlayStation 4 firmware update. System software patch 7.55 is available to download right now on your console, weighing in at 471.4 MB. However, the question is: what does it actually do? Are there any new features? Let's take a look at the official patch notes:
- This system software update improves system performance
Ah, it's just another stability patch! Just like the previous two patches, this is simply designed to make your PS4 a more stable console when it's turned on and running the latest and greatest titles. Even the sizes of this patch and the previous one are exactly the same, so we wouldn't get too hyped about this one.
How excited are you to get this PS4 firmware update downloaded? Let's see those stability gifs in the comments below.

"It JUST Works"
OMG!!! Been waiting FOREVER!!!
Well it's about time!
I'm gonna use some PTO at work right now so I can go home and download immediately!
Hopefully this fixes the noisey FAN! it works now nice and quiet lol
Waiting for the update to turn it into a PS5
Can safely say that's the end of the big feature updates.
Why no straight to 8?
If this update is to fix or improve system performance then why is the UI on my Pro so laggy and slow (as always), it's also laggy when trying to look through my games library.
@lyallop same boat
I haven't moved my PS4 in 5 years so I don't know how it could benefit from more stability.
stabb-ility... 😂 (NO, www.pushsquare.com, I won't to think of more to say!!!)
Wow thanks for the update...will always appreciate it
Is it needed in order to play online?
I always wait a few weeks before updating OSs.
But I've been playing Trek Online recently. I don't want to have to wait to play.
@LiamCroft then go to xbox
Stability is like so abstract man.
I was stable at one time, a long time ago.
Must be a pretty major issue since 8.0 is around the corner.
"This system software update improves system performance" translated: "Another patch to annoy the CFW community" 😂
@lyallop try rebuilding the database in safe mode. Works wonders for me.
Make sure your internet connection is fast and stable, this affects some ui elements too
