Silent Hill revival rumours refuse to die, after a relatively new social media account has reignited hopes that the survival horror franchise is poised to make a return. You may recall there were strong rumours earlier in the year that Sony was plotting a new entry in the property for the PlayStation 5, with development being led by Japan Studio, but the speculation never really panned out.
That said, there had been lingering hope that an announcement may be made during a rumoured State of Play in August, which will purportedly take place any day now. A new Twitter page named Silent Hill Official has poured fuel on that fire, as it’s only been posting since the beginning of July. While there’s some debate over its authenticity, it was mentioned by the official Konami account recently.
In fact, after tweeting about the brand’s recent Dead by Daylight crossover, the Japanese publisher told fans the following: “We are sorry we got people fired up. Anything official would come first from @SilentHill or an event or something, not from us.” An event like State of Play, mayhaps? We’re still not quite buying into these rumours, but you know what they say: there’s no blood without Pyrami—or something like that anyway!

Thought the image was the nurse from Dead by Daylight.
Usually I get really, really excited when I read anything that remotely suggests a new game in the works. This time, however, I’m actually angry, tired, and sick of being jerked around as a fan. Konami can “officially” shove it!
sigh
I just want another great Silent Hill game some day. P.T. is the closest thing we've had in almost two decades, and its a demo that no one can legally download anymore. It makes me so sad.
Honestly, a Silent Hill not done by Team Silent just doesn’t interest me. KojiPro at least hired most of the staff and so could deliver an authentic experience, I don’t trust Konami with it. Perhaps it would be best just to leave it done and dusted at this rate.
Release a mobile game I double dare you konami.
@nessisonett I have to agree with you on this one Konami already butchered metal gear solid with metal gear survive for me Konami should really give up on metal gear, silent hill, etc they've lost way too much to keep going on those franchises they need to make new stuff to stay afloat imo
@sonicmeerkat why put resources even into developing a mobile game when they can pump out another pachinko machine
For what its worth i do think a new game is coming. There has been too much smoke. But im not sure we'll see it at the next Sony event. Capcom have already said more resident evil village news is coming this month - presumably at Sony's event - so i dont think both resident evil and silent hill news would feature in the same show.
We'll see i guess
I find it funny how these franchise crossover events usually just cause more confusion and disappointment than anything else. I'm not going to play dbd, even if I'm a huge silent hill fan.
For the sake of all of Konami's great IPs, I hope Sony or some other competent player in the business will buy that dead husk and revive it to it's former glory.
Might be to do with the new film coming out
could be 1 of those third party deals sony reportedly have?
@nessisonett But wait, wasn't all the rumors pointing to Sony JapanStudio plus Toyama and Ito? I mean, those are big names part of TEAM Silent...
@Makina @nessisonett That was indeed what the rumor that came from dusk Golem aka aesthetic gamer said and he hasn't really backed down from it either
At this point if Sony Japan Studios aren't working on a Silent Hill reboot I think the Internet is willing it into existence.
@BambooBushido And all of Dusk's RE8 details were 100% accurate, so I believe the dude about this one as well.
Ill keep my expectations really low so i wont have a mental breakdown when its something i made myself believe.
