Update: While the prospect of ordering your PlayStation 5 directly from Sony may sound appealing, it's worth mentioning that this offer is only open to those with a US-based shipping address. That means you will be able to purchase from anywhere outside the US, but if your address is set to a location outside the country then your order will be cancelled.
Original Story: You can now register your interest to pre-order a PlayStation 5 console directly from Sony. A new page has been set up on the official PlayStation website whereby you can input your PSN ID to confirm your interest in the upcoming console, with selection of who can actually pre-order when the time comes based on your interest in previous PlayStation activities. "There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation."
You will be contacted via email if you're successful, allowing you to pre-order either the standard PS5 or the digital version, two DualSense controllers, two charging stations, two Pulse 3D wireless headsets, two media remotes, and two HD cameras. Due to limited quantities, you will only be able to pre-order one PS5 console. Sony recently stated that PS5 pre-orders wouldn't happen in a hurry, so this is probably just the first step on this journey in terms of getting a console direct from PlayStation. "I think it's safe to say that we'll let you know when pre-orders will happen," marketing bigwig Eric Lempel said. "It's not gonna happen in a minute's notice."
Of course, we still don't have a PS5 price or PS5 release date just yet, but this feels like one small step nearer to that becoming a reality. The PS5 is drawing closer and closer people, and Sony is gearing up to take those all-important pre-orders. Will you do so direct from PlayStation? Let us know in the comments below.

Registered. Let the hype train begin
This is similar to Sony's State of Play countdown time to a countdown timer. Um...I'm interested in the PlayStation 5...price, launch date, launch games...so how about giving us some of that first?
So basically give us money, we promise itโll be good? We might not know exactly what weโre planning to buy but itโll be something?
"There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation."......................somebody wake me up when the shoutings over................its a game console SONY not the CROWN JEWELS get over yourself already.
Did I read the FAQ right or are they not taking orders for now if your delivery address is outside of the US?
I mean I'm happy to wait and get mine from Amazon UK or Gamestop.ie as planned anyway. They'll all have stock for Christmas.
Register to have an opportunity to give us an unquantified amount of money ๐
@Feena Hahaha the unrivalled honour of having the sheer pleasure of giving us all your money ๐
Yeah pricing details at the very least seem pretty imminent now
Definitely going to try and be a day one owner for Miles Morales and PS4 backwards compatibility alone
already have my unofficial gamestop ireland preorder from december, guaranteeing me the 2nd console in the company
Done! now wait... So excited for a chance to spend $600 (I went and checked my email 2 sec after I set it up ๐ ๐)
I got my PS4 direct from Sony. So keep up the tradition I guess.
Iโll get my PS5 from GameStop, not have it shipped after the midnight release. This seems like pointless overkill.
Yeah, I registered!
(Even though I won't be preordering... I just be there at the preorder date when prices go live, you know?)
I got the email and registered right away. Hey PushSquare, what about international players? I'm from Brazil, I still got the email in English, so not sure if it applies...
I registered, but I only plan on getting the camera, headset, and maybe an extra controller through it. I want to get my actual PS5 through GameStop, so I can go to the launch. Extras I'm less worried about. I anticipate final details in the next two weeks.
The article needs to say it's for US addresses, pointless for anyone outside.
@Shepherd_Tallon Yeah, looks like US only.
@nessisonett it might as well be a link to the PS5 page on Kickstarter.
It's USA ADDRESS only
How do ya know if it's completed correctly?
So as far as I understand, only on US?
So only for US, not got for me, guess I need to pre-order quick as soon they came up in Australia at JBHIFI or EBGames.
Sony - " Play has no limits"
Also Sony "limited number of consoles"
Nice work give that marketing department a pay rise quick!
You guys want some cheese with all this whine. My goodness getting outta control lol.
Anyways, excited for tomorrow, got a feeling we're going to get all the details we want!
@SmileyK Can't blame fans for not wanting to miss out on the first batch of PS5 orders, I certainly don't want to wait another 3 months for the next batch.
I got the email but I don't intend to get one at launch.
Shame, no joy for Portugal.
Still sad there's no price/release date yet. This game of chicken has gone on long enough. At this point, everybody knows what next gen console they're getting and I doubt people will change their minds.
One thing I'm curious about:
Q: Who will be selected to receive an invitation?
A: Our selection is based on previous interests and PlayStation activities.
What exactly does this entail?
As a Canadian, I am disappointed
@NomNom you and me both, I got the email then read the fine print ๐ซ
What I find interesting is the line about "your interest in previous Playstation activities". I mean, I've had the same active PS account since the PS2, is that not enough to show that I'm a loyal customer who wants to buy their product? Their system has tracked that I've played 79 different titles in the past decade.
I guess we'll see what happens. All things being equal, I'd rather buy from Amazon anyways because I get points back.
@Unlucky13 you have played 79 or is that just what their system says?
Only usa? Booo! ๐
I got the email earlier today. I am registered and as hyped as ever.
Two things. To stop the Ebay mass buying and then selling at silly prices..... Or there is going to be extremely limited supply before Xmas and alot of peed off Sony gamers in November?
Hey so the rumour about pre order without price reveal was real then ๐ค
@ellsworth004 I link my PSN account through True Trophies, and it then keeps a listing of everything that I get, and how common or rare that they are. It seems to be pretty accurate for everything that I've owned on the PS4. However, I didn't have a broadband connection until two years ago, and so my log ins with the PS3 were spotty.
I know for certain that there are a number of PS3 games that I played that aren't listed in the record, even though it goes back to 2010. It looks like it has all of the sports games, but the rest are spotty. I'm curious if I log onto the network with my PS3 if that would change at all. I haven't been online with it in years.
Is "limited quantity" marketing speak to try and get a few people on the fence to pony up sooner rather than later? I thought they had doubled down on production so will have 10 million by the end of the year. They sold 4.2 million PS4 in 2013. With an inevitable higher price point and ongoing economic uncertainty for large number of people I don't see the PS5 doing much higher than 5 million units by the end of the year. I will be prepared to eat my words come Christmas time though.
@Shepherd_Tallon
Yeah, if you live outside the US they'll cancel the order.
@Enigk I'd guess Sony underestimated how badly Microsoft would market the Series X (Series X promotion since the May Inside Xbox has been very poor) so expects real shortages as a result of people who would pick up just Series X picking up PS5 instead.
Microsoft haven't shot themselves in the foot as badly as they did with the Xbox One though but definitely could be better. The marketing push needs to be a bit better for the consoles closer to the holidays though as I don't think casual gamers are that aware of the PS5 and Series X. I guess they will ramp up once they announce prices and dates and hopefully they keep the price low as that will have the biggest impact on sales no matter how much they advertise. For me there is no game for either console that is selling it to me like Breath of the Wild did for me on Switch. The games I am looking forward to by the end of the year are still on PS4 and Xbox One so I will stick with what I have these holidays and play catch up in 2021.
@Number09 Lol what are you saying? The playstation definitely is one of Sony's crown jewels... still though, I'd like to throw one on reserve myself, but I dont wanna sign up for a chance to sign up. Sort of reminds me when they "invited" me to sign up for that playstation credit card.
@redd214 I'm more of a chocolate with whiskey person if I'm honest ๐๐ฅ๐ซ
Nothing for Europe or Japan then? Way to ignore your usual strongholds, Sony. If this is the new US-centric Sony, I don't like it.
@Enigk They did 4.2 million because it was constantly out of stock almost everywhere. We have no idea how well it would have done if there were stock available. Even Nintendo Switch beat it in some countries because they had more stock, even though ps4 was much more popular.
I signed up, but I will probably buy from Best Buy. I can earn points by using my PlayStation credit card along with points from Best Buys for buying it from them.
Iโm just going to hang out around somewhere doing a midnight launch with a baseball bat, worked for me last time.
@naruball True, but it took 9 months for PS4 to sell 10 million units so having that many ready for the end of December seems like there won't be a shortage unless there is a bottle neck on the deliveries. Assuming it is released in mid November then it has has about 6-7 weeks on sale to the end of the year. Like I said though, I am ready to eat my words.
@Enigk You're absolutely right. If they do have so much stock available at launch, there shouldn't be any shortages, so the pressure to pre-order should be off.
I still find it hard to believe that they'll have 10m units ready by then, though...
@jbreez00 Sony say the PS5 will be out in 2020.............these your only allowed to the ball by who we select invites proves the peasants will get the unit sometime in 2021....don't get me started on the playstation credit card ๐๐๐
This is purely an underhand tactic to avoid publicly revealing the price; cherry picking Sony fanboys as the first customers probably along with a request not to reveal the price.
What a joke.
@ArmyofOne
I don't belive there will be a problem getting a ps5. Since they going to produce more Ps5 then Ps4 on launch.
@Shepherd_Tallon Chocolate and whiskey huh?! That's a combo I've never actually tried before, may have to give it a shot...for science
This ''I'm not telling the price yet'' with a smirk was already becoming ridiculous but interesting weeks ago. Now it just feels a bit pathetic to be honest. It's a product. It plays games. It's the 5th of a series. That's all.
@Feena Yes. So much arrogance indeed.
Hey Sony, what about your non US based gamers? Second class treatment for the rest of the world?
I have to give it to Sony they now how to PR and create hype and panic for the PS5,
If you want one on day of release.
They are the masters of PR in all areas.
I shall sit back and wait for Game UK to put their real preorders and get one probably easily. The trick is stay up until midnight on the opening day of preorders and preorder.
Itโs mostly not the game companies that course the issues.
Itโs the dirty scum scammers that try to get hold of as many as possible to sell at double the price on eBay etc.
Did you guys get an email confirming that you registered? I signed up but didn't get one. Just want to make sure I did it right.
I would like to know the price before even consider pre-ordering the PS5
