And thus concludes another week. If you're here in the UK, then you'll have spent much of your time claiming it's "too hot", even though you've been complaining about the cooler temperatures for the remainder of the year.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I'm nearing the conclusion of Ghost of Tsushima, which is a fantastic game that only gets better the more you play.
Liam Croft, Senior Staff Writer
Most of my gaming time this weekend will be spent on Ghost of Tsushima, but I also have Skully to review. The two probably couldn't be further apart from one another.
Clearly it's too hot for WAYP this week, hence the poor turnout. Nevertheless, we're counting on you picking up the slack in the comments section below.

I'm on the final episode of Curse of the Moon 2. After that I think I'll give Carrion a go.
Playing Cuphead .its amazingπ€. it gets a 9 from me.rogue trooper redux.a underated classic.this gets a 8.and ps4 launch graphical showcase killzone shadowfall.also gets a 8 from me.word life.word to your mother.word is bond.word β up son
Playing both Crackdown 2 & of Ghost of Tsushima, not long finished Crackdown.
GOT then late afternoon friends and bbq at mine. Spent a fortune on food. π€£
Having only recently finished Death Stranding I was in a bit of a gaming slump and decided to go back to GTA V until I'm in the right mood to start a brand new game. I did play GTA V on the 360, a couple of times in fact, but still purchased it for the PS4 a few years ago. I got about halfway into it before new games grabbed my attention but the timing feels right to go back to it. It's sheer mindless fun, completely different from both DS and The Last of Us Part II which I also finished within the past month or so.
On Death Stranding, overall I really enjoyed my time with it. It's a strange game for sure but the music, characters (esp Sam and BB), story and graphics are all strengths. The connecting with other players through ladders and structures and roads is also a strength and something I'd like to see incorporated in some way in future SP titles. The actual gameplay when it comes to combat isn't so strong. It's fine when enemies are limited but there are times when a lot is thrown in your direction and it's just not that much fun nor inventive. Got me thinking this aspect of the game was one of the last things tackled in it's development. Maybe working on this for another year or two would've been advisable.
Still, it is what it is and it didn't prevent me from liking nay loving the game. Easily in my Top 10 this gen.
9/10
Enjoy your gaming weekend everyone and try and keep cool.
π
Ghost of Tsushima.
I'm still only at the start of Act 2. I spent the week clearing the map behind me before moving on. Loving every second of this game.
On my way to get a new telly now though. Can't wait to sit down with it this evening.
Long weekend! Games and cans, folks.
Trying to finish ghost of tsushima, playing about 6 hours yesterday doing side characters quests and still playing it today. Still on chapter 1 π
Edit: Add another 3 hours, got tadayori armor but need to find 2 more fox for me to unlock minor charm slots, I want additional moderate damage to melee and bow π
Ghost of Tsushima, A Plague Tale : Innocence and when I want a break from the 13th century I'll be playing Cuphead that bloody flower had me up till 3am last night but then I beat it first try once I was up in the morning!
GoT on Sunday. Got it only on Tuesday so only played so much. I'm loving it a lot, I was wary of the open world tropes, I usually get bored of them pretty much without fail (looking at you HZD). But I love Japan, so the setting is really selling it for me, so I hope I will love the game enough to finish it. Sammy's comment about it getting better the more you play is encouraging.
Primarily it'll probably be SAO: Alicization Lycoris alongside some Ghost of Tsushima and a bit of Fairy Tail. I'd intended to leave Fairy Tail until I was done with SAO but I just couldn't resist starting it
Wandering around Kamurocho and going crane style on all sorts of creeps, pervs and bozos in Judgement. I'd also be helping the wildlife in the new Red Dead Online role but the dreaded Rockstar server issues keep disconnecting me. Grrr.
Cuphead, seriously loving everything about it! Spectators would think otherwise because I'm swearing like a gangster rapping sailor. Also Sudden Strike 4, which is a bit meh imo. Still want to give it a proper run, so I'll push through.
Still Nioh 2, still loving it
Ghost of Tsushima for me, I am so in love with this game already. Also some more fun in the Sinking City, trying to finish done side quests.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. Has a couple of issues but overall pretty enjoyable so far!
Xbox: Grounded
Switch: Paper Mario
PS4: more Ghosts of Tsushima and a spot of Grid.
Ghost of T. for me. I noticed that when I try to play this late at night I'm falling asleep. Maybe the relaxing scenery/ graphics? Still on act 1. Will possibly buy add ons for civ 6 and give it a try. Only ever played it on switch so I'd like to see the ps4 version. Was playing Just Cause 4 before GOT came out, might go back. Not sure.
Platted Ghost of Tsushima so I've been on my PS3 playing a lot of Gran Turismo 6 lately so it'll be more of that and I'm going to try and put a dent in my PS3 backlog of PS+ games. Starting off with Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and some Mass Effect 2.
I started playing Kingdom come deliverance, I'm enjoying quite a lot. The only thing I don't like is the lock picking mechanics. I spent 2 hourstrying to pick an easy lock with no success. Is it even possible? Other than that I'm really hooked in the story. The bugs are not bad after a few years from release they seem to have patched most of them. I'm just afraid the game is gonna make me lose touch from reality, truly immersive
Not playing much for the next 16 days the snooker world championship is on so will be mostly watching that, with a few games of cuphead in between lol. But will be checking in on the gaming news in between some snooker matches just in case Sony decide to announce something lol.
This weekend, I don't feel like playing any one game for too long, so I'm going to dabble in lots of games instead. So I'll play a bit more of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Bioshock 1 and Yuppie Psycho, try out some of the new songs in Hatsune Miku Project Diva Future Tone, and perhaps even try out Bravely Second. I've also gotten back into Pokemon Shield, so maybe I'll grab some pokemon that I previously missed and try out that new water/ground raid event.
Ghost recon :Wildlands what a gem of a game.
After completing Ghost of Tsushima last week I've started playing GTA V bought it last week for 14 euro's on PSN. Never finished it back when I had it on PS3. Loving it so far!
Banjo-Kazooie (N64) - Just starting out in Mumbo's Mountain.
Fallout 3 (Games For Windows) - This is going to be in my all time favourite open world games list.
Angry Birds (Windows Phone) - Onto Episode 2 now.
@Shepherd_Tallon
What tv you getting Iβm into sound and vision.
Ghost of Tsushima is going to last me ages, which is good. On my third weekend with it and still in Act 1, although only one mission left of that now. My love for the game grows the further I get.
I've started Ghostbusters remastered too so will probably get nostalgic with that in the evening.
Good luck keeping your Playstations cool gamers.
Rotating between Ghost of Tsushima and some GTA online with friends. Last few sessions before I leave for my holiday. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.
Recently beat GOW on PS4 and wanted to just play through some "shorter"/pick up and play type games in my backlog.
Been slowly working my way through Demon's Souls since last weekend. I say slowly, not as in time played (I've racked up 20+ hours already) but as in progress. I am getting there though. I've beaten (I think) 6 of the bosses now. Really enjoying it. Can see why it's a series that took off!
I also bought Cuphead (for the 3rd time..) because, well because I'm an idiot, but also because it's Cuphead! So gonna punish myself with that later if I get time.
Iβll be playing Ghost of Tsushima like most everyone else. Iβm thrilled the game is as good as it is and that itβs been such a sales success for SP.
I actually expect to finally complete the good ending of Bloodstained Ritual of the Night. Iβve really liked this game too, and am way more interested in it than I would have thought.
And as a possible diversion, I think Iβll have a go at NBA2K20 in honor of the official restart of the season.
GoT and Fairy Tail. Man, the end of Act 2 in GoT is amazing, really emotional and elevates the whole game.
Probably back to RDR2 so I can spend endless hours revisiting the splendour of the Wild West and ignoring pretty much everything in favour of picking herbs, cooking and slaughtering the local wildlife. No game has yet reached the dizzy heights of the open world wonders and sheer amount of content offered outside of the main campaign and I find it strangely calming just to explore, interact and soak up the technical prowess of Rockstars masterpiece.
Also got the final boss in the Destroy All Humans remake to beat but she's still as unrelentingly difficult as ever so will probably leave that till the weather and my temper cool down somewhat!
Loved GoT and wish I could find more reason to replay it but I've got the Platinum and found everything and whilst I enjoyed it immensely I'm not finding an urge to go back to it yet. Same with TLoU2 which I Platinumed and played to death to the point that any incentive to replay is currently absent ...
Oh, and Cuphead but that'll require less sweaty hands and lots of practice. Great game though and gorgeous animation.
Have a good weekend however you spend it but try not to burn too many BBQs, especially if you live in Kent as my room already smells like a fire in an abattoir
I'm still in Act 1 in Ghost of Tsushima. I keep exploring the southern portion of the island doing side quests and just... exploring.
Ghost Of Tsushima - loving it, only about 15 hrs in, taking time my time with every quest and uncovering the map
Destiny 2 - I'm addicted to this game in a big way AGAIN !
Tales Of Berseria - finally nearing the end I think. It's the best Tales game by far, even better than Vesperia
Will also be watching Arsenal hammer Chelsea in the FA Cup Final...come on Gunners !
Have a good weekend guys β₯οΈ
Like alot of guys on here I will mainly be playing the excellent Ghost Of Tsushima.I've just started Act 2 but gone back to the first part of island to complete everything.Absolutely fantastic game.Game Of The Year for me easily.
Planning to go back and play a bit more Death Stranding too because I've been too busy with GOT.
Also,something I wasn't expecting but my mate from work convinced me to D/l Destiny 2 which I have had on Ps Plus but not tried it.I'm really enjoying it especially on co-op.
Switch games will be Animal Crossing,Paper Mario and 99 Tetris for Paper Mario Theme
Ghost of Tsushima of course. Going for Gosaku's armor then I'll do some Sake sidequests. The game does keep on giving.
Just finished Last of Us 2 this morning, so will be moving onto Spec Ops The Line to see what all the fuss is about.
@Dezzy70 Just picked up one of the new Bravia models with a nice sound bar.
@OlosNah Jesus mate, leave talk of the last few moments of GoT to more appropriate threads.
π€¦
@KingPev @lukey-luke98
As a Spurs fan I won't be watching. Is there any way you can both lose?
π
A Manchester Derby would've been sooo much better.
@Col_McCafferty
Death Stranding just clicked for me and I found the gameplay loop really relaxing and addicting, maximising the order of my delivery routes and using my zip lines ended up being very satisfying. In fact, it was one of the rare times where I was a bit sad once the platinum trophy popped as I was still digging the game.
Have a tip top weekend duder.
Having picked up the plat in Tsushima I have gone back to Sekiro for a NG+ run through, hoping to platinum this too. I am on a real Japanese history and culture trip at the moment so already have plans to play my Phontom Thieves edition of Persona5 Royal once Sekiro is done. Probably sprinkle in a little My Hero Acedamia into the mix this weekend too, into season 4 now and loving it.
I'm playing the new Tengu DLC for Nioh 2. Just finished with all missions on Dream of the Samurai, so now on to beat the DLC on Dream of the Strong difficulty before starting the game on the latest and newest difficulty (Dream of the Demon).
I love the new Split-staff and I like the fact that you earn weapon skillpoints for it pretty fast compared to the other weapons.
@Zeke68
I know Nioh has its fans, but I still feel the series is criminally overlooked. I will look to pick up the DLC once I finish the main game...... Flipping backlogs π
Have a fab weekend
Finished and got the platinum on Ghost of Tsushima on Thursday, have traded in and got Star Wars Jedi fallen order, so will be playing that.
I just finally promoted my last 2 characters for the platinum on Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville (10th plat in 2020). So I will be digging into Fairytail which I pick up yesterday and maybe mix in some Man-eater
Sadly I got the platinum for Ghost yesterday wishing there was a New Game+. So I'm searching through back backlog for something to play.
@Col_McCafferty
Thanks for letting me know, adjusted it!
@Lovespuds Yeah when I was playing Part II Death Stranding became my chill out game, spent some time rebuilding roads and planning routes building other structures including zip lines. Strangely quite relaxing!
Cheers fella, same to you.
π
@OlosNah No probs mate, glad you enjoyed the game. I'm looking forward to playing it myself at some point, hopefully by the time I do it won't have been completely spoilt for me.
π
I recently finished Void Bastards (good game), and just started Life is Strange 2 (really liked the first episode. My sons have the exact age difference as the brothers in the game, and I think that Dontnod has captured the dynamic of their relationship at that age very well so far).
I caved and ordered Ghost of Tsushima and will have my copy later this week. Canβt wait! I had vowed to not buy any more full priced games this year, but I really want to play, and my wife urged me to stop fretting over a few bucks and live a little. She rules.
@Arugula You will definitely get somewhere in Spider-Man, because in that great game, getting there is more than half the fun! π Some of the best and most fun movement in any game ever.
@Shepherd_Tallon
What model number might get one myself
@Westernwolf4
"my wife urged me to stop fretting over a few bucks and live a little. She rules."
She sounds like a keeper chief ππ
Hope you enjoy Tsushima as much as everyone else, it really is a belting game, enjoy the rest of your weekend.
@Lovespuds
Yeah, I totally agree. I wish more people would take a chance and try it out, especially now that many gamers are in the Ghost Of Tsushima-mode
Have a great weekend you too !
@Lovespuds My wife and I have been together for 22 years, so I think we are gonna make it! π Why she puts up with me, I have no idea......
I hope you have a great weekend too! The praise here for Ghosts has really helped convince me that it is a game I would really love. Open world titles with great combat and lots of boxes to check are my favorite kind of game.
I noticed that you were talking about how great Nioh is in another post. That game has been in my backlog for ages and looks fantastic, but I am intimidated by the difficulty..............
Horizon zero dawn
Moons of madness and Dragon Quest builders the first game.
Getting in some Street Fighter V.
Itβs a mixture of Ghost of Tsushima, No Man Sky in MP and Crosscode on Switch for me. Three very good games, finally getting back into NMS after all the updates and lasting it with a friend, the game is great, can be a little buggy at times but itβs forgivable considering what it offers. Hello Games have filled this game with so much to do that itβs great. Crosscode is another game Iβm really enjoying, itβs combat is fun but hard to master and thereβs plenty of secrets to uncover
@Col_McCafferty ....if you watch the final you'll be able to see what lifting a trophy looks like π€π
@LobsterJohnson
You are in for a helluva game. Spec Ops: The Line is one of my all time favourites. The narrative is exceptional, even if the gameplay is a bit basic. Also, Nolan North as Cpt Walker is fantastic!
I'm on a NG+ on The Last of Us 2. Survivor+ is really a game changer in terms of how you play it. To take my mind off of all the dark topics in TLoU2 I'm dipping in and out of Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Cleared 5 provinces and the gameplay loop is starting to get stale. I wonder if I'll see it through to the end or give up, as I did with AC Odyssey.
@Westernwolf4
I celebrate 24 years of marriage to Mrs Lovespuds in September, like you dude, I have no idea how she puts up with me ππ
Some of the bosses are tough in Nioh, but I think overall, the difficulty is a little overstated, the game is very fair and you can level up quite nicely to ease the challenge if you get stuck. I think a bigger hurdle might be the amount of systems and combat options in play, it can seem a little daunting at first but honestly, I cannot recommend Nioh and Nioh 2 enough.
Sounds like you are going to adore Tsushima mate, loads of value for money too, its a big old game if you want to explore and see everything, enjoyππ
@KingPev Ooh nasty!
I've seen us lift a trophy, indeed I was there at Wembley the last time we did. Been a while though.
Just sad that one of Woolwich and Chelsea will be victorious. Hopefully there will be plenty of injuries on both sides and the game itself will be a dire 0-0, with those in blue winning on pens after ET.
π
@Col_McCafferty ha ha only jesting. Believe it or not, as a Gooner I don't hate Spurs at all. I wanted them to beat Liverpool in the Champs League final. I hate Liverpool !!
@Lovespuds ....Mrs Lovespuds π€£π€£π€£..do you call her that face to face ?
@KingPev Really? Are you sure you're a Gooner?
π€
Ha, you must really hate Liverpool then. To be fair I don't particularly like them much either.
Anyway, enjoy the game mate. Maybe I'll switch over later on but I'm more interested in the outcome of the play-off final. Fingers crossed for the Bees!
@KingPev I don't believe you.
Ive been playing skater xl and outer worlds, the weekend gaming plans recolve around those.
@KingPev
Hahaha...... There are many reasons for how I have remained happily married for 24 years (and living together for 27 years), reckon one of 'em is that I haven't called her Mrs Lovespudsπππ
@Lovespuds Congrats in advance on a September anniversary! Hooray!
The thing I like most in games is a good story and good combat system. The more fun and detailed the better. So it sounds like Nioh could actually be really good for me if I can manage not to die constantly. π
While a gather the courage for that, I look forward to crossing (most) everything off Tsushimaβs map in the coming weeks.
PS4 - Ghost of Tsushima
Switch - Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
@Lovespuds ha ha ...my wife is Chinese and my everyday nickname is Pev. With her Chinese accent she always accidentally calls me 'Perv' ..not great in public π€£π€£
It's just going to be RDR2 and RDO for me this weekend. The game is in its own universe with no challengers. Then probably some PES2020.
@Col_McCafferty I thought you'd be trying out The Naturalist update in RDO. As with every major update from R*, online play is free for some time. It's fantastic!
@Westernwolf4 my wife told me the same thing. Even though we are both working I feel like spending money right now is bad but I really wanted Fairytail and she said, "60 bucks isn't going to kill us, enjoy a new game you haven't bought one all year." So I did and now I'm 4 hours in
@Dezzy70 It's an XH81. I haven't tried it yet though so I can't say for certain if it's got a solid image or not, but I had heard good things before buying it.
@TheArt You know how much I love RDR2, indeed despite the likes of The Witcher 3 and Last of Us Part II it's still my favourite game this gen if not of all time, but that's sp mode only. I've dabbled with the online play but it just doesn't do anything for me. You go from being able to speak to anyone in sp mode to a complete mute in the MP!
I have enjoyed the occasional round of poker in it though.
Yoshi crafted world on switch. Lego city undercover on ps4
Played some ac odyssey earlier, played about 20 hrs now and sense I might have seen everything the game has to offer, yet i can't stop playing. Whoever ubisoft hired to do the psychoanalysis and derive player engagement has skills, I have to give them it!
@Col_McCafferty ππ That's always been my problem with online - the mute characters feel soulless. But nonetheless it's fun though like you I still prefer SP. It's just annoying Online gets all the attention but, SP will forever remain solid even if it never gets any DLC or additions.
@KingPev
Hahaha, I can imagine that nickname raising a few eyebrowsππ
Nioh 1 DLC, Nioh 2 DLC and Ghost of Tsushima
I just finished The Last of Us Part 2 and now I'm trying to figure out what to play next. I don't get paid until next week, so GoT is out. π
Continue with CrossCode PS4.
Started it last night and am about 5 hours in.
Got me hooked.
@vegeta11 I feel the exact same way. I have been working good jobs for 20 years, but I always feel guilty about spending money under any circumstances. I am struggling with it even more during these difficult times for the world. But my wife is always great about making sure I spend some money on myself every once in a while.
Of course, unlike disciplined you, I have already spent money on a few full priced games this year. I told myself TLOU2 would be the final one, but π’
Hope you enjoy the game!
@Svark I am very excited to eventually try Cross Code!
@gollumb82 Yeah, the gameplay is definitely showing its age but the story so far has a heart of darkness feel and Iβm loving it.
@LobsterJohnson
+1 for The Heart of Darkness reference. It detinitely is connected with the said book in many ways. Will be looking forward to your impressions once you've finished it.
@Westernwolf4 thanks so far so good. But I have bought a few games from the great sales like One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, Man-Eater & Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
I'm going through an extremely tough break-up right now with my (ex) girlfriend, so I'm with friends and we are going to be playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection and a lot of Gears of War co-op to help get my mind off things.
@vegeta11 I bought Maneater on sale, and used it as the antidote for the grimness of TLOU2. I liked TLOU2, but it was super dark. Messing around and blowing up boats as a shark was the perfect breezy game I needed at that time.
@Col_McCafferty ..woohoo job done. 14 times FA Cup Winners ....where were Spurs again ? ππ
@KingPev One time I want Chelsea to win and they let me down.
π’
Congrats....I guess.
Worst. Season. Ever.
π€¦
Playing Mafia II: Definitive Edition right now. Not that it deserves to be called that. It's just about playable, but it's so buggy. Also playing Sonic Mania on the side.
Got a crazy woman i am trying to deal with. Her name is Harriet. She has a hissy fit when i kill an animal, even when it was in self defense.
Rise of the tomb raider, animal crossing, and hopefully finishing the evil within dlc.
@Westernwolf4
Just got through playing another 6 hours of CrossCode today and it is getting better and better. Hard to believe a game this good is only $20.
Keep this one on your watchlist.
@Svark So glad to hear this! I have had my eye on it for some time.......
Still at it in Far Cry 3! Reached the Southern Island today! π
For the past 5 years; Rocket League.
Also, recently finished TLOU2 - What an experience - Not a perfect one, but wow...
Purchased 'Grounded' on PC last night and stayed up until past 4 AM with the early access version - That game seems promising!
