I know that this is minor but Persona 5 being featured in the starting PS Plus Collection alongside games like God of War and The Last of Us, and it being treated like a marquee title for the PS4 is really special considering just a few years ago the series hadn't even amassed that much of a mainstream following yet, especially when I was getting into it.
That and Atlus' trademark being next to Square Enix's on the Smash copyright listing just really shows how far they've come as a developer and publisher.
As far as other highlights, I love that FFXVI is returning to a dark high fantasy setting and the Miles Morales trailer was also really solid. DMC5 SE with playable Vergil made me nut with motivation. The lighting and atmosphere in Demon's Souls is just chef's kiss
Yeah, this has just reinforced my feeling that next gen can wait a year or two. I'll wait for both Series X and PS5 to drop in price considerably, then I'll have another think.
PS4 games
PC games
Expensive games
That's all you need to know.
Five Nights at Freddy's really sold the console to me. That and I can still play Fortnite on it.

So a poor launch lineup with some cross gen games hobbled by the PS4 and a weak attempt at a game pass....meh...
Wow, some people are impossible to please huh? Price is where I thought, and totally reasonable. Plenty of good looking games coming and Demon's Souls is there at launch. I couldn't be happier.
That's a lot of articles there!
Glad some of these games are coming to PS4 since I wasn’t planning to buy the PS5 at launch anyway.
So the Sony first party studios have shown us:
Gameplay
Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift in Time, Sackboy Adventures, Demon Souls
No Gameplay
Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok...both slated for 2021
Nice to see the PlayStation Studios putting in the effort!
We're all those PS5 games coming to PS4 part of the "Showcase event announcements"? I thought they were after the fact, didn't see them show up in it though I was barely paying attention for a lot of it, and had a bathroom break.
@blah01 Man, if that's a poor launch lineup I can't even imagine what a good one looks like.
Well this further solidified my practice of buying a console in its second year. Regardless, buying a ps5 is a sealed deal for me.
@get2sammyb
It's pretty poor, go back to the launch of the PS4 or PS3 for comparison. They had better and more varied titles. It may improve before November but it's not great.
@get2sammyb What exactly is the launch line-up?
@blah01 - Really? Last I checked, both were pretty lacking in terms of launch titles, with the PS3's only decent title being Resistance: Fall of Man and the PS4's being Killzone: Shadow Fall. The PS5, on the other hand, has Demon's Souls, which, while a remake, is already a bigger, better title than both of those. Add Miles Morales and Sackboy to those and I'm not sure how this launch line-up isn't a definite step-up from Sony's prior efforts.
@FullMetalWesker The PS4 also had Knack (for better or worse), Resogun as well as several cross platform games.
For me, the major difference between this launch and those were the gaps in technology between the new and the prior console. The PS3 was a giant leap from the PS2, and the PS4 was a major leap from the PS3, which meant that cross generation games like Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield and Call of Duty were almost completely different experiences on the PS4 and PS3. While the PS5 clearly is an improvement over the PS4, to me it seems more like a PS4 Pro with slightly better graphics and faster load times, rather than a completely new console generation. Will the upgrade be noticably, no doubt, but not in the same way as the leap from PS2 to PS3 or PS3 to PS4.
Looking forward to giving Persona a go, been hearing great things about the series for years
Noone flabbergasted by PS+ Collection?
BC (for PS4) bla bla...
Only to be forced to subscribe to PS+ 🤔 I mean, come on!!
Exclusive games on PS5?
So basically I can buy a PS5 for better visuals, faster boot up of games and less loading times? 🤔
The show itself was good with lots of interesting games, can't argue with that, but the transparency and clear messaging towards the fanbase was disgusting.
Also mentioned how appalled I was with the price hike of software under another article. Marketing jargon because profits for PlayStation has been pretty healthy if you ask me. No reason at all to increase prices of games, besides making one up just to justify creating more profits on top of the existing HUGE profits. That's plain greedy!!
In closing, Sony turned into a completely greedy and two faced company. And players are screaming of happiness because they got their desired prices and release dates, only to completely ignore the way how Sony is treating their fanbase!! Wake up folks! See it for what it really is, please, and don't be sidetracked by yesterday's show!! They have zero reasons to disrespect their loyal fans.
Credits have to be earned and Sony is doing a horrible job atm!!
@get2sammyb @blah01 go back and look at the PS4's lineup, it wasn't great. Demons Souls didn't show a release date but I've seen several reports about it being a launch game from a Sony press release and that Destruction All Stars. If true, those and Spider-Man are a really good lineup
@blah01 Cross gen really isn't that bad. Especially at the start of a new console's lifecycle. This launch lineup is WAY better than the PS4's boring ass lineup lol
I tried asking them on Twitter: have they said anything about how someone who owns a game on disc that is receiving a PS5 upgrade will be able to receive said upgrade if they buy the digital only version of the PS5? I can't recall hearing anything and last I checked, the PlayStation store did not recognize the games I own if they were on disc (ex: every version of Witcher 3 still shows up as being something I can purchase in the PS store, even though I own the game on disc).
