The PS5's size is well documented now, with Sony releasing the official dimensions and an illustrator offering some comparison drawings of the console. But if you're still trying to figure out just how big the nxt-gen console is, there's one more solution you can employ.
A 3D artist has created a three-dimensional model of the PS5 with a disc drive, and using augmented reality, you can see the console to scale in your home. Hit this link via your smartphone, then tap the AR button in the bottom right to view the to-scale 3D model through your device's camera. Alternatively, follow the link on your computer, then use your device to scan the QR code.
It's another way you can get a feel for the size of PS5 before you lay hands on one yourself. Have a play with the AR model, then come back and tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.

I would not be surprised if it can't fit on my setup
Man... this thing is huge.
This is cool. Also huge
It doesn't fit under my tv 😂
I hope the AR isn't accurate, otherwise my wife is going to go mental!
@Mergatro1d Sorry I am laughing so much at this. I think I am gonna have to get the wall bracket and hang it on the wall behind the tv. It's monstrous. lol. Here's hoping it's big but quiet.
Fits behind the new 4KTV!!!! 😀😊
Not so Ugly now that I see it in 3D, and Awesome idea.
It’s fake news. The PS5 is not HUGE, it’s small REASONABLE console and in fact many of my best friends are small reasonable consoles. Eraghargh conspiracy saying the Ps5 is too big to handle well I like it big and I like it chunky and it fits really nicely in my living room if you know what I mean
That size can’t be right but, damn, the console looks much nicer than expected!
Edit: by placing that against a tape measure the AR comes at around 20 inches, whereas the actual size on stand is around 15.5 inches.
Dittos...cool and huge!
The Dualsense one is neat as well.
I don't know whether to have the console stand upright or on it's side.
I'll need help to get it past the doorway. I'd have better luck moving a couch with my feet while doing a handstand.
Doesn't work for me. I can view the model on my phone, but when I hit the AR button it just takes me to the Google AR Core website.
I have a 43 inch telly. It goes half way up it when placed next to it. It's a beast.
We're gonna need a bigger house...
It looks cool but it's way too big!Was the size really necessary?
So what is the dimensional size of PS5 ?
Should i use Mr. Bean's way to measure up ? 🤭
Doesn't work on my phone...
@Anti-Matter
PS5: Approx. 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (width x height x depth)
That’s not including the base stand and is listed on the PlayStation Blog.
@Octane
Don’t worry, even for those of us it’s working for it’s laughably inaccurate. The thing is 5 inches taller than the stated dimensions.
How come it hasn’t a flashing red light on the top to warn low flying aircraft?😂😂
If it stops it sounding like a jet fighter I’ll be happy👍
I mean, it's not that big. If this guy was the size of an actual person, then we'd have a problem.
There are options. Waiting for an all black slim PS5 for $350 and bundled with a game is one option.
The AR model is too large, had to shrink it down to. Matched it up against a tape measure and reduced it to about 70% in size. Shame you can't view it sideways
I'm wondering about cancelling my pre-order until I can see it. I have a spot on wall I was going to hang it but between the design, the size and the £70 games I'm thinking I may just wait. A black one will disappear better into the background and I should be old enough to have outgrown the need to by every new piece of tech day 1.
One good thing should be its ability to run quite with the cooling you can it into it.
I've hired a crane and arranged for the rear windows of the house to be removed so I can get it into the back room.
The word on the street is that Amazon will be using Cargobobs for delivering the huge PS5.
People are losing their minds about this thing. Yeah it's bigger than today's consoles, but it's still not THAT big if you actually compare dimensions. It's not this monstrosity/behemoth. On its side (disc version), its width is about 2" (50mm) less than a standard home AV receiver and 2" shorter, to give you a real idea of its size.
