Rumours of a Bloodborne remaster have been doing the rounds for a long, long time — but what would such a remaster actually look like? YouTube channel SnazzyAI gives us some idea, using AI to render some Bloodborne gameplay in 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second. God does it look good.
According to some sources, a PS5 version of Bloodborne does indeed exist — but there's still no concrete evidence to back these claims up. We do know, however, that Bloodborne will be a part of the PlayStation Plus Collection on PS5 — allowing subscribers to download and play the PS4 version on their next-gen console at no additional cost. Of course, if you already own Bloodborne, you'll be able to play on PS5 anyway thanks to backwards compatibility.
How do you think this looks? Bathe in the blood of your enemies in the comments section below.

My brain saw Bloodborne, PS5 and Remaster in one sentence and my heart skipped a beat. I'm sad now.
It just makes me feel sad, because it might not happen. Sad times.
Bloodborne 2 will be better.word up son
To not do a Bloodborne PS5 dedicated mode would be a crime.
I’d prefer a sequel. We’ve played the game, let’s see a different game. Or at least Elden Ring eventually.
I will pay them $70 for Bloodborne 2.
Not buying rehash on PS5, just like I do not buy them on Switch. Make a new one.
I could never get into the soulsborne genre. What am I doing wrong? This game looks amazing
If this remaster is going to be a thing, they better not try to re-sell the game again since it's only about 5 years old. Also putting it on PC would be neat since Souls has a large playerbase and community on platforms like Steam.
I'd kill for a PS5-upgrade version of this game with support for faster loading and higher resolutions/framerates. Offering a performance mode like Spider-Man for 4K/60fps or even 1080p/120fps would seal the deal for me.
@Salohcin Souls games are definitely the kind that require a unique level of commitment. You need to specifically dedicate your time to beating them since learning all the key mechanics and looking at how intricately stuff like enemy and boss patterns are laid out is key to succeeding at being a Souls game.
We do not need remakes from the past gen, this is absolutely ridiculous. It'll play just fine in backwards compatibility, this is 100% a cashgrab.
@Medic_Alert I seriously don't get the criticism.
If you like you and the benefit in buying it, buy it.
If you don't see the point, don't buy it?
It's not you can't play it on a ps5 and the only way to do so is through the remaster. Nor are studios like Naughty Dog spending all their time making them instead of working on new games.
It's the epitome of a non issue.
Ps4 version of bloodborne already have great graphics, it only need stable 60 fps. Of course if bluepoint remake it with demons souls ps5 engine, I'll be buying and playing it again
Sony making remasters of current-gen (soon to be last-gen, I suppose) games and selling them to people a second time is beyond ridiculous. Give us new games, and quit remastering stuff that's borderline modern, if not entirely modern, if you're going to charge us for them.
@Salohcin Don't feel bad it took me 5 years to get into Bloodborne 5 years of picking up, rage quitting and putting down then a few months ago forced myself to pick it back up tried hard and started progressing then I got hooked finally beat it and have now played it about 7 times and Platinumed it twice XD. These games definitely aren't for everyone a lot of patience is needed
@naruball The problem is in the fact that remasters of these games when the PS5 is not only backwards compatible with PS4 games, but developers are also more than capable of offering upgrade programs for free on existing and upcoming titles, the whole idea of re-selling the game specifically for a console that can play PS4 games natively and with special enhancements in place by default, isn't just redundant, but from a messaging standpoint it's incredibly confusing to the average consumer, because someone who doesn't constantly follow gaming news and is more of a casual fan won't know the difference between a PS4 game being played on PS5, a PS4 game being upgraded to the PS5 version with enhancements, and a PS4 game being remastered for PS5, especially since two of those things sound almost exactly the same
Some of you are aware this is fan made right?
@AdamNovice Yeah we got that. It's just speculation
Isn't the PS Plus free version of Bloodborne on PS5 getting patched to run at 4K 60 fps anyway?!?! That would be a complete slap in the face if not!
Really glad I can toss the disc into the PS5 and play it. Maybe I will this winter.
@Medic_Alert "Just up the framerate cap on the original and patch in a higher resolution for free."
The trouble with this sort of sentiment is that it suggests extra work should be done by developers for free. Which as a consumer I can understand, but as a creative should not be expected.
"Just up the framerate cap" - For a lot of games, which are often held together with sticky tape, unlocking the framerate introduces problems, which require work to fix. Regardless if it doesn't it's still going to need to go through QA to test. It takes time.
"Patch in a higher resolution" - this doesn't just magically happen but takes serious work and again time.
Look I like free ***** as much as the next guy, and I get your point about full remasters, but personally I'd be happy to pay a modest sum for an upgrade patch for some games, especially if it makes it more likely to happen on games like Bloodborne! (I get this is probably an unpopular viewpoint)
I'd rather a sequel or a new IP than a remaster of a PS4 game.
@Salohcin I never could either - but I managed to beat Bloodborne a few years ago. The best part of that game is the summoning bell. I loved the lore and gameplay, but personally never enjoyed getting wrecked by bosses, so I’d go on Reddit and get someone to help with use of the summoning bell.
I’ve had people call me out that it’s ‘cheating’ but whatever, I had a ton of fun doing all the rest of the areas by myself. The generic enemies aren’t TOO hard after you get the hang of it. Plus I went back and helped other people with bosses once i beat the game and was leveled up!
@Medic_Alert I'm not saying free upgrades should never happen or that it isn't sometimes simple. Just that we are getting to the point where it is now expected and I think that is a unfair precedent to set for developers. Yet again the consumer in me is all for it.
I’m beginning to miss gaming on pc where buying new hardware meant my games performed better rather than it asking for another £70 for a few extra frames
@Salohcin I’m with you. Bought the game - looks amazing but struggled with the difficulty and then the endless loading times. Will try hard to get back into this on PS5 without the load times, but I’d love them to patch in a “souls noob” mode that slightly lowers difficulty so o can play it through after spending my money. Understand that is also blasphemous as well. Just so much money to spend to not be able to play it!!
Bloodborne is my favorite first-party exclusive of the PS4 era. If they offer a PC version of it with enhancements and restored cut content, I'd easily pick it up again for $60. But a PS5 remaster of the same game? Nope.
no smoke without fire. take a look at every Ex-exclusive, they all started with a rumor. death stranding, horizon zero dawn, RDR2, Detroit become human. and before the Demons souls remake was announced at Sony event there was a rumor saying a demons souls remake is coming to ps5 and pc as well as a bloodborne remaster. the rumors were so accurate they even said this demons souls remake reveal will happen at nearly the end of the event. and that's exactly what happened. so I don't think the demons souls Pc mention was an error. since the rumor turned out to be true. so the bloodborne announcement is only a matter of time
@Deadlyblack From what Sony has said that is not possible. Bloodborne will not be supported on the consoles regular backwards compatibility but will instead be a part of the PS Plus PS4 to PS5 day one collection.
I have too say I do not want a remaster of bloodborne I want bloodborne 2 stop with the remasters . We want new games . I love bloodborne and for me it was the best game this gen and we have had some amazing games . But bloodborne 2 would be far better
@Medic_Alert There is no benefit to remasters. They're just a lazy way of making more coin.
There are way too many titles being trotted out as the emperors new clothes. This generation is blighted with them.
You won't find remasters or similar in my collection. I abhor the practise.
I love bloodborne as much as the next person but it feels way too early to remaster it. Unless it was a free upgrade!
As others have said a sequel would be much more welcome.
@KirbyTheVampire Could always not buy them. That's always an option.
@Woogy That's your choice. I find them to be worth buying again depending on what is done to said remasters.
@Dodoo A sequel isn't happening anytime soon I'd say. Especially with From Software working on Elden Ring.
@InsertUsername There's no excuse for it when Xbox is providing such things for free. But, if you enjoy paying top dollar for things other people are getting for free, be my guest, I suppose. It takes an impressive level of fanboyism to do that, though.
If it gets me a new trophy list, I'd double dip whitbout a moments thought, one of my favourite platinums to earn.
@KirbyTheVampire Lol. I never said that I'll buy them without a single thought. Good for Microsoft if they are doing it, but that doesn't mean that Sony has to do what they do. It's an "oh well" situation and I'm not going to be bummed over it. Regardless, I decide what I do with my own money and will decide if it's worth forking over. Not to mention I don't buy remasters day one. I prefer to wait until they drop in price. In which case, the investment risk is rather low. Why you even think that I'm a fanboy for not sharing the same opinion as others is rather childish on your part. If you prefer to insult others for not seeing it your way, then be my guest. I prefer the high road.
@woogy So what about people who either weren't old enough or didn't have the hardware to play certain titles? Why should they miss out?
@AdamNovice I'd say selfishness. Not sure why people are this bothered over remasters. They are targeted at those who missed out on them last gen or beyond that, or those who just like to double dip. Everyone has the option to pass on it. It's really that simple.
@InsertUsername
Also, Sony are on record as saying your PS4 version of Bloodborne will work as is, so it's not like they are forcing anyone to buy this hypothetical remaster.
I will say, Digital Foundry's video this afternoon showing Series X' backwards compatibility did look very impressive, but then, it's not a deal breaker for me, new games are my priority.
@Lovespuds Indeed. Plus a remaster isn't even going on at the moment, so not sure why everyone is getting overly hypothetical about it.
I'm not a fan of Xbox nor have any interest in Series X or S, but they are doing some interesting things and that's good on them. Whether Sony decides to do something similar or not isn't affecting me and I'd imagine the average PS5 owner will not complain about it. B/C is nice and I will use it everyone once in a while, but I prefer to play new games when I get my PS5.
4K/60FPS? Demon's Souls can't do that.
@InsertUsername
Pretty much aligned with me then squire, I am more interested in Xbox now than I have been for 10 years or more, but it has nowt to do with BC, if they make exciting exclusives I may jump in in a few years time. But I am very much waiting to see if Xbox deliver on all their talk of exclusive games that they have done recently.
@Medic_Alert If Sony added new DLC as well as 60fps and 4k hdr I'd definitely buy it again.
@Mafia_Man19 are you serious? Why do you expect it for free?
I feel all the Bloodborne love here, but this game was released relatively recently. Feels a tad weird to remaster it so soon. Some free PS5 upgrades would be good though, real talk.
@Medic_Alert
No we’re not disagreeing. Coming at the thing from slightly different angles - playing devils advocate really - and suggesting there always room for more than one approach.
I surprised great technology.
Good (or God?) job AI!
It’s one of those situations where it’s an old game and questions come up about why it’s needed.
The answer is frame rate. Having better visuals is great too but Souls fans are absolutely obsessive about frames because BB especially is all about twitch reflexes.
For Sony to re-release it and charge full price again would be pretty crappy but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this remaster happens.
I’d still buy it tbh but I’m a huge fan.
@710King - "Bloodborne will not be supported on the consoles regular backwards compatibility but will instead be a part of the PS Plus PS4 to PS5 day one collection".
Can you post a link to that? If true that's the most absurd thing I've ever heard about PS5 BC.
@Shigurui https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/playstation-plus-collection-game-list-ps-ps5-6300
I'd say take everything with a grain of salt because Sony hasn't been very clear on any of this. Eurogamer says this could be how the PS5 does backwards compatibility entirely but I doubt they'd complicate it that much.
@playstation1995 - i'm with you. i've already played BB......give me BB2!
@KirbyTheVampire - you mean like paying 500 dollars for a new console that doesn't have ONE exclusive coming to it for 1-2 years? yea, i won't pay top dollar for that.
@710King - That's just a list of the IGC for PS5. The disc version of any of those will work.
@eddie429 Neither would I. The only thing that is appealing is Game Pass, but I don't need a Series X or S to play that when I can simply use that service on PC.
i think GP is a good value for those on a budget; but, it's not for me. i don't have much interest in old xbox games and i'd just buy the new games i'd want. i'm sticking with sony - i love the exclusives.
@Arnna wow you're not very smart... Bloodborne is part of the PS Plus PS4 Collection on PS5 and yeah those games are free if you have PS Plus! Whether those games get resolution and framerate patches remains to be seen though. Try following the news next time!
