Just like the PlayStation 4’s controller, the DualSense has an LED light behind its touchpad which can change colour depending on the context. Primarily this will be used to distinguish between different players, but we did see with the DualShock 4 how it can complement gameplay, by representing health for example.
What we haven’t seen is the PlayStation 5’s pad illuminating in any colour other than blue – well, until now. 4Gamer.net managed to get some photographs of Sony’s saucy new controller in a variety of different hues, and we’re sure you’ll agree that this feature is much more attractive now it’s subtler than it was on the PS4.

This looks really nice. I like that the feature's there, but it's less pronounced than it was with the giant blue strip on the DualShock 4.
That's nice and all, but I can't believe we still don't know anything more substantial about UI and new features... 37 days left!!!
While playing GTA the DS4 flashes blue and red when getting chased by police. I always enjoyed that.
@starbuck2212 Yeah, I liked those little touches. Hopefully developers still do stuff like that.
Hi there fellow gamers. Some interesting new features on the Dualsense. Can´t wait to finally get my hands on it..... While playing Demon´s Souls...... and getting my ass kicked..... Again...... And again.... And feeling extremely happy about it 😜
Cheers, stay safe out there and happy gaming to us all
I think the green light is my favourite.
@get2sammyb Hi there friend. I am genuinely curious and excited to see what the developers will be able to do with all the Dualsense capabilities, especialy the haptic feedback.
It just might be a game changer to some of this games, since the feeling of the impact that weapons, guns have as well as clash of metal with metal or even the pavement in the location your walking.
Not to mention the 3D sound effects that will be a must in games like Residen Evil..... And possibly Sillent Hill(one can only hope right?)
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
Green light makes me unnaturally happy, a real primal feeling. Absolutely to do with my Fenian blood, I assume they would feel the same if it glowed red, white and blue.
Damn, all them colors look pretty nice. But still, my favorite is the Playstation blue. I'm a big fan of that color and it somehow looks more gorgeous on PS5 and DualSense than PS4 and DS4.
Can't afford the console at launch, will have to wait a long while till I get it. But *****... I'm hyped for it.
I'm really excited to see the UI and what changes they've made in the firmware software. But I'm honestly not mad they haven't shown any of it yet. I can live with that.
The blue and red seems good. I really want to customize the colors, blue when playing demons souls, red when playing spidey mm
And gold when playing godfall, I hope there's other colors beside that 4.
The green and the red lights looks amazing.always enjoy the lights on dualshock 4.word up son
Anyone else notice the LED's above the analog sticks? One light for player one and two lights for player two I presume?
I like these probably more than i should. Blue and purple for the win folks!
@Weebleman
Gotta say I do like the green. I wish you could change the default colour permanently.
I hope the lights are not too bright - I really don't like the lightbar on the DS4 (along with the lightup Xbox button on the Xbone controller). I find controller lights very distracting, especially while playing survival horror in a dimly lit room. At least let me turn them off!
@GADG3Tx87 i second you on that pal. It might be something you can do. Hopefully we find out at some point.
I'm still hoping for a option to turn off the light entirely. No distraction needed
Very nice! Kinda shows how desperate we are for any tiny crumb of info now though, doesn't it? C'mon Sony...
All I want is for us to be able to choose what colour the lightbars are.
I'm wondering how the new controller, with it's new lighting setup, will work with a VR camera - like the DuelShock 4 currently does.
Please be RGB PLEASE
@LiamCroft Mine as well. I hope, maybe, that there will be an option to choose your default color preference. Green would be my choice if that were the case
Razer RBG or GTFO. If it's not flashing in animated multicolor like a unikitty, it's just not 1337.
@GADG3Tx87 Must have missed this yesterday: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/10/ps5s_controller_features_led_lights_to_denote_which_player_you_are
Hilariously enough, i love the green color lol.
Yes! I was hoping for this.
Can't wait for DS5Windows so I can play Skyrim with this beauty showing off its true RGB capabilities.
