Guilty Gear Strive is set to launch on PS4, PS5, and PC next year, but as spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, the PS5 version of the game will apparently feature an exclusive "battle mode". No official announcements have been made, and the PlayStation Store page simply says "more details on the way".
We'll probably learn all about it soon enough, then, but some eagle-eyed fans already have an idea of what this mystery battle mode might be. In the recent release date trailer for Guilty Gear Strive, there's a moment where a third character jumps on screen and attacks the opponent. The gameplay snippet has people wondering whether Strive will have some kind of tag team or assist mode that hasn't been revealed yet. It could be that the PS4 version of the game can't handle more than two characters on screen at any one time, and so the mechanic is exclusive to Sony's next-gen console.
Anyway, it likely won't be long until we have answers. Until then, dream up some crazy game modes of your own in the comments section below.

There's no way the PS4 can't handle something as simple as a tag team or 3v3 assist mode given other ArcSys games like FighterZ and Cross Tag have those as primary game mechanics and the PS4 handles them perfectly fine. Either this is something else entirely, or this is just exclusive because "PS5 DA BEST"
So not on PC either? This is a terrible idea if so. Locking modes behind your console of preference is just incredibly anti-consumer and not really where I’d like to see Sony go. Just make good games like you’ve been doing already. Stop locking stuff away
@TheFrenchiestFry Neither of those games are as technically demanding as GGS though. For all we know, adding more characters on screen on PS4 has an impact on the frame rate and ASW doesn't want to lower the graphical quality to compensate.
But I tend to agree, I doubt performance will be the only reason for this exclusivity.
@ShadowofSparta cries in DMC5 SE
@ShogunRok It's hard to say, but the fact this feature isn't going to be on PC either when current PCs would be totally capable of handling this with no issues assuming it is actually graphic intensive, makes me think Sony probably moneyhatted the feature for their shiny next gen console in a similar way they did for stuff like Pac-Man and Mega Man being PS exclusive characters for Street Fighter x Tekken
If this was Sony's doing then it'd probably be on PS4 as well.
And even if it was, Sony have to find ways to compete, people seemed happy for MS to shortcut their way to content and IP so you can't expect Sony to just solely rely on their studios.
@AdamNovice Well considering it isn't on PC either it probably was a mix of Sony wanting the feature to themselves and maybe graphical limitations
@TheFrenchiestFry Would they be stupid enough to completely throw money in the garbage on a exclusive mode in a multiplatform game 😅 well unless it's their goal to be villans.
Just buying incentive to adopt next gen...
Benefit of the doubt: Could be a mode that requires a super fast solid state drive (SSD).
How many titles are they going to release on PC and say "requirement: 7GB/s SSD"? I guess they probably will start doing that.
@Juanalf stares quietly at Marvel's Avengers
@TheFrenchiestFry Okay I see your point 😁 I wonder how much money wasted on that pile of garbage. I bet they really thought it would replicate the success of the films and break all sorts of records.
LOL, people calm down,we do not even know what the multiplayer mode is.
Make an OG fan and please be M.O.M or a rad campaign like the ones in Judgement on the PSP.
