Outriders, the new looter shooter from Square Enix destined for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, will confirm its release date tomorrow. A new video has popped up on the game's official YouTube channel that is set to premiere at 5pm BST / 9am PT on Thursday 8th October 2020, titled "Release Date Announce". So yeah, it doesn't get any more obvious than that — the Outriders release date is coming in just under 25 hours.
The game has always been slated for a Holiday 2020 launch, so this new trailer will either confirm that or announce a delay to 2021. Let's hope it's the former because Outriders has been looking a lot better than it did during the initial reveal, with gameplay and story beats that have managed to catch our interest. We will, of course, bring you that PS5 and PS4 release date as it's confirmed tomorrow.

They're going to postpone the release to February 2021, probably, since that's the date already listed on steam.
February 2
"looter shooter" They're chasing a trend that's already dead.
I'm so sick of all these crappy disposable casual shooters and remasters/remakes. These companies need to start making real games again.
I've a funny feeling Outriders will bomb. I can' see anything that lifts it from the crowd. It's a well constructed shuffle of what's gone before. Sure some of the supers are pretty cool, but is that enough.
I think Anthem was a turning point in these looter, shooters; it hit a wall and exposed the limits and challenges of the genre and now we all want more and different.
I'll be going into Cyberpunk 2077 on release, coming out only to jump into Ghost of Tsushima for a bit of Samurai Action every now and then. Aside from that, saving my pennies for a new 50-55" TV next year some time.
I think this game will be better than people think. Sure, it's a looter shooter, but it's not a free to play, and is purposefully avoiding many of the pitfalls associated with that genre. It's got what seems to be a deep sci -fi plot, character interaction that they have spent some time on, and deep customization. People Can Fly have put out some good shooters in the past, and more importantly, each one has gotten progressively bigger and better. I'm going to buy it the first time I see it in stores, and I'm willing to bet it will be a pleasant surprise.
Aw, the waiting game sucks! Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
