Here's a neat little detail that shouldn't be lost amongst today's PlayStation 5 console embargo lift: the next-gen system has redesigned how you share a Trophy unlock with social media. Instead of just a simple screenshot at the moment the Trophy pops, the PS5 now saves a video clip a few seconds long detailing the lead-up. This can then be shared with Twitter along with a banner along the bottom displaying the name of the Trophy and its type (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum). How cool is that!?
Greg Miller of Kinda Funny shows off the feature in the video above, but also makes sure to confirm that the banner along the bottom of the screen can be turned off if you don't want it there. This is a purely optional extra. He also states that the noise associated with unlocking a Trophy has changed. For more information on today's PS5 console embargo lifting, head on through the link.

Awesome idea actually! I'm nervous about what the new sound might be, though!
remember when people were saying even Geoff Keighley and Greg Miller couldn't even get pre orders for PS5 π
@AFCC I do love the current ping, so addictive. I wonder what sound the new one will have. Interesting to see it just pops up rather than sliding in.
Great. I donβt share with anyone, but Iβd like to have a record of my own unlocks. The screenshots we currently get are often not anywhere near the action of achieving the trophy requirements given when they pop in game.
Nice hopefully no more Black screen trophy screens.
Sounds good, but as with the screenshot feature on PS4 i will likely turn this off to save space. At least video should do away with the issue where most screenshots were blurry or just black screens with the trophy notification
massive improvement for sure. trophies would often pop up on loading screens for me so this is cool.
Definitely an improvement but I am really intrigued as to what the new sound might be, I really like the current ping it is actually my phones text notification sound so that might have to change too ππ
Nice feature. I really am going to have to get the extra storage space in there
I cant count the times I get a screen shot of 10 seconds later that has nothing to do with the trophy popping. I like this.
Neat touch but probably going to turn it off day one, gotta conserve that space!
That's cool, I'm a little bit sad that I'm not getting trophy vids for my ghost of tsushima since I already got a lot of those in ps4
@God_of_Nowt
Possibly. Sounds like me anyway, lol. Glad that they are. I still wonder if there is a platinum though, or if itβs considered more a demo than a full game, which used to disqualify them. Perhaps that was what my question was about...
It's a neat feature. Probably not something I'd pay any attention to though, as I don't tend to look at the current trophy screenshots.
Soooo.... Low on SSD drive for games/apps, and then they require more space for the trophies braggins rights... Ok...
The speed of the trophy popping was great as well. It was almost BEFORE he grabbed the icon. (Large hitbox?)
15 second clip. 10 Seconds before, 5 seconds victory dance. I like it.
The screenshot feature didn't often work, though there are a few nice memories.
Will also be important to easily be able to delete these and turn off the feature to save storage.
Hopefully the videos will upload to the cloud immediately seeing as we get 100GB free with ps plus and not tie up SSD space
I used to be a big fan of Greg, but gone off him massively. After what they did to Colin Moriarty.
cool feature & that T Shirt is burning my eyes π€£
@oldschool1987 I haven't checked in with KFG in a long while (until today). If you don't mind my asking, what happened with Colin? He was always my favorite.
@KeldorTheCursed he wrote a harmless joke on twitter, really innocuous and cancel culture came for him, but the problem was Greg and the others threw him under the bus and apologised on his behalf, which he wasn't happy about. You should never apologise for a joke, offense is taken, not given.
Anyway he left the company after that and started his own podcast called Sacred Symbols. I highly recommend it pal. Here's a link to his podcasts if you're interested

@oldschool1987 thanks. I did a quick Google search, too.
@KeldorTheCursed see what I mean about the joke? I didn't wanna repeat it here because I don't want anyone feigning offense over it π
@oldschool1987 The thing that p***ed me off about the whole thing was Colin would have helped Greg while he was been treated for cancer (they shared an apartment after all) so you would think Greg would have had a shred of loyalty for him. But like Colin said a while back that since he publically supported republicans while living in the huge left wing glass bubble of San Francisco meant he was always going to be a target by his peers just because he has different political views.
@AdamNovice spot on, pal. He not too long ago suggested that he thinks Tim Gettys was the one who started pushing the company to go after the woke crowd instead. Which means no place for Colin, first chance they had to get rid of him, they did.
@oldschool1987 Does not surprise me one bit.
@AdamNovice subject change, you get your pre order in?
@oldschool1987 No I'm waiting till early next year, I don't like to jump into a new console day one anyway. I'm just waiting on which game to get with it. Right now it's probably Ratchet and Clank.
Kinda worries me about hard drive space though....
@oldschool1987 I'm a pretty liberal guy, but I love a good offensive joke from time to time (my favorite comedian of all time is George Carlin, if that tells you anything).
My takeaway from what I read about this was, if you're going to get (essentially) fired for a joke, at least make it a funny one. That joke was weak, LOL.
I always liked Colin's reviews on IGN because they were thorough and informative. I don't really care about his politics either way when it comes to his content.
It's cool, but like others have said, I will likely delete them (or at least most of them) because the hard drive space is so limited this time around.
The biggest thing in regards to trophies I want to see still is how your trophy list looks now on the PS5, with the tracking now being added. Other than progress tracking, I really liked how clean and organized it all was on the PS4 (and having the DLC separate from the main game), so I'm hoping it is like that on PS5 as well.
@KeldorTheCursed I know this isn't what you meant but it sounds like you're saying because you didn't find the joke funny he deserved to be fired lol. Funny is subjective. It was just a very innocuous and what most would see as inoffensive. I don't think he was trying to break jew ground with that joke. He didn't deserve the pile on he recieved for it.
You listen to his podcasts then? Better content than KF I think.
@oldschool1987 I was making my own joke. As you said, funny is subjective. Shrug.
@oldschool1987 for what it's worth, getting fired for that joke is silly, IMO. Just to clarify.
@KeldorTheCursed I know you didn't mean that π don't worry man, that's why I gave you the benefit of the doubt!
You listened to colins new stuff?
Hope they don't get stored on the limited space SSD, and only in the cloud. Storage will get full just with trophy videos
@oldschool1987 no, but I'll give it a shot sometime.
@ankehuber The current ping along with the Plat trophy image is just a pure joy feeling.
Do you know what would be lovely? If upon getting the Plat the PS5 auto generated a video of all the trophy clips in order as a little keepsake/shareable of the adventure you just finished.
