Not only did yesterday's PlayStation Plus Collection update add two more PlayStation 4 games into the mix (Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Zombies Chronicles Edition), but it also upgraded a pre-existing one. Final Fantasy XV will now be supported by all its DLC with the Royal Edition. That includes multiple expansions based on the fellows who accompanied Noctis on his journey, detailing the events that occurred when they weren't part of the main group of heroes. That should extend your playtime even more.
The only piece of DLC you won't gain access to is Episode Ardyn, which must be purchased separately. For a full list of All PS Plus Collection Games on PS5, head on through the link. Don't forget that all of these titles will now take advantage of PS5 Game Boost, which includes faster load times and improved framerates. Will you be checking out Final Fantasy XV via the new service? Let us know in the comments below.

Final Fantasy XV was the first game I played on my Pro, is all the DLC now integrated into the game or is it still just extra stuff, basically what I'm asking is the Royal edition an improvement over the vanilla release story wise and such?
@MightyDemon82 Yes, its sooo much better. You get the 3 DLCs and other improvements. For example the 3rd/final Act is way longer with new Story, Bosses and so on
@MightyDemon82 Only Episode Ardyn is not included (as the article says), since it came out aftet the Royal Edition's release. There were more episodes planned afterwards but they got cancelled.
I'm on the same boat. Played the game around the time the Pro came out, and plan to play it again with all the additional stuff, but I would rather wait for a full next gen upgrade that is at least on par with the PC version's visuals (I'm aware that it will run at 60fps / 1080p in its current state, but I want the improved textures and the resolution bump from the PC version)
I'm still disappointed over the cancelled DLCs but at least I can finally play this game in 60FPS and with fast loading time
@IonMagus @Alucard-XII Thanks guys I will definitely revisit the game at some point on PS5!
This is good I guess, just wish it wasn’t the second worst FF game ever made (after 12), then more of it would be a great thing.
Cleared this game but didn't play the dlcs I save dlcs till their altogether then when I take the notion to play IL play the lot hope there's newgame+.
Not too interested in FF, but hoping this paves the way to upgrading Persona to P5R
Does Royal have a different trophy list? I would probably play this again to see how it's changed if it does. If not, I might still, but you know.
Sounds like it’s time to revisit Final Fantasy 15. I played the day 1 version and really enjoyed it. This sounds like a good excuse of another run.
Off PS5 launch week so I could jump in and tidy up missing trophies. :/
does that mean its royal on PS Now, do you know?
Great game, but also so depressing near the end.
Are these PS5 copies of PS4 games? Or running via backwards compatible?
@theheadofabroom Oh I love the wishful thinking! I hope so too, but doubt it as Royal was released this game, if anything with all the free games, it’s tempting me to pay for Royal
@NateGoesLive They're still PS4 games running via backwards compatibility, but with enhancements.
Man with the PS Plus Collection alone, that can give a casual gamer about a year's worth of gameplay. Not to mention backwards compatibility and the massive amount of launch titles. I can't handle it!
It would be nice if persona 5 was Upgraded to royal edition🤞🏻
@thefourfoldroot
You may be entitled to your opinion, but calling FF XII the worst in the series is painful and wrong on multiple levels. XIII and II may want to have a word with you... 😉
@MemSec I love XIII and really enjoyed II. (I also love XII). My worst two would be IX and X-2 (or MQ if we count non-main line games too).
@MemSec
Well, none of the games are truly broken so worst is always subjective, but XII was boring a sin for me and, to this day, the only one I have never been able to bring myself to finish, nor even play for more than around 10 hrs on ps2 and 90 minutes on the remake. Bounced off the dull storyline and “combat” very hard.
@thedevilsjester
It’s interesting to see such different opinions. While I wouldn’t call any FF game generally bad, II and XIII would be the weakest in my mind. I agree with your take on XIII-2 but vehemently disagree with IX being anything else than a masterpiece. To each their own... 🤷♂️
@thefourfoldroot
The (more) mature tone of the story - while truly not being groundbreaking - together with the battle system and art style makes XII special for me. I hope the series returns someday to Ivalice. XIII had also a great battle system, but I could not enjoy the characters and story at all. All seems fine, as long as we have such diverse games to play with.
@MemSec To be clear I said X-2 (not XIII-2); I never did understand the general like for IX as it is easily at the very bottom of my FF list (even below MQ and XIII-3)
XII was fun (the combat system was great), though the story didn't really have that punch that FF games are known for. They did return it Ivalice quite a bit in FFXIV.
@thedevilsjester
Sorry, subconsciously replaced X-2 with XIII-2... my statement still stands though. IX for me has the most charm of any FF game, I have a lot of nostalgia for it and may be biased therefore. I did only play XIV shortly before heavensward. The dull mmo mission design eroded all my enjoyment of it, it’s too much of a time sink and won’t pay a subscription for it.
@MemSec I have a lot of nostalgia for all of the FF games. I played them all (from the first) as they came out (with the exception of the non-US released ones that I couldn't play until many years later on emulators). For IX it all depends on what you want out of a game I guess. I think IX had a great story, and some pretty enjoyable classic combat, but I heavily dislike the art theme and abhor the comedic characters (Steiner and Quen).
As for FFXIV it was only great (prior to Heavensward) IF you played the original 1.0 and had that story connection to bring you through. Heavensward and on though, its easily the best MMO and has some pretty enjoyable story writing and game mechanics. Unfortunately the MMO mission design (for the core game) is still there, so if you don't like that, you still won't like FFXIV.
Hope monster hunter, fallout 4, batman, bloodbourne, MKX, RESI 7 and battlefield one have all dlc too.
@thedevilsjester
Although I too mostly dislike (bad) comedic elements in games, in my view IX did strike a good balance with sillyness and charm. The only negatives in it for me would be technical problems (slow battle speed) and bland overworld. My favourite FF characters (Vivi and Steiner) are from this game. It comes down to personal preference.
I played unfortunately too much of WoW to deter me of any mmo with classic quest design. Still I’m intrigued by the seemingly great story of XIV from Heavensward onward. That’s why I have high hopes for XVI with Naoki Yoshida at the helm.
Great news for those who don't have it but I wish Persona 5 would be too
@thefourfoldroot Lmao 2nd best you mean. FF12 is one of the greatest games I've ever seen, beautiful world, so much details and content, great dialogue, music, animations, sidestories, gameplay etc etc. Zodiac Age got some of the best reviews on every review site lol. You surely have a lack of taste.
@MemSec 12 might the the greatest game I've ever seen. These tons of details allow to find out so much more on every playthrough.
@Vayne_Solidor
Nope, just found the story and hands off combat boring.
FF9 is one of my favourites, for a point of reference.
I will surely enjoy this, when I get a ps5 in a few years. 15 is my 2nd favorite FF, after 12 TZA, which is for sure a really big masterpiece.
@Vayne_Solidor
Although I prefer IX, VIII and VII ... XII is certainly up there with them. 👍
@bremkat34 yes I’m sure it’s the royal version on now as I started playing it the other day and can see the different trophy sections for the dlc.
@thefourfoldroot um,you mean after 13, right?Since 12 is one of the best FF games.
@rachetmarvel
Nope, different tastes. I didn’t like the linearity of 13, but 12 was just boring for me. The characters, storyline and automated combat just didn’t click with me.
I don't even remember 15 being a plus game I don't think it's in my library I'll have to check now
@thefourfoldroot
I personally think XIII is worse than XII. And I find XII to be superior to X as well.
It’s story is weak but the gameplay was brilliant.
As for XV, hated the story and characters (besides the plot twist towards the end, definitely one of the best out of the blue plot twists in final fantasy history) but I LOVED the gameplay and it’s open world structure.
@TheRedComet
Well, tastes vary I guess. I struggle to even remember FFXII “gameplay” outside of menus, and XV was not much better.
