The PlayStation 5 launch advert was designed to be "epic and iconic", but in doing so, it doesn’t actually feature any next-gen games. That’s a criticism you could leverage at the commercial, so why not pretend it’s Japanese counterpart is the one being beamed out to homes across the globe instead? It includes PS5 games! Check the TV spot out above.
The space and conquering great feats theming remains for the first 20 seconds, but then a sizzle reel of upcoming PS5 titles plays to really get the Japanese audience excited. There's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Demon's Souls. Much better, right? It's still kind of crazy to think that every one of these PS5 games was announced in a single hour stretch back in June. What an event that PS5 Future of Gaming livestream was.
So, do you think this is a better advert for PS5 than the English version? Debate in the comments below.

Can't wait to play those 4 games. I imported my last demon souls game. it never got a UK release far as I remember. I have watched metal Jesus on YouTube he has a video you can buy games in Japan off different sites and who you order through handles the games and posts them to you in one package. I'm still hopeful more and more games from each new generation will get localised because there's a lot of hidden gems that doesn't get released in UK or us from Japan I have learned. Thanks for this read guys.
This is much better....
@Mad001 it was definitely released in the UK, It was the last PS3 game I played, well started before I met my now wife and sold my PS3. Can't wait to actually play the whole game and get past the opening area on PS5!
Lots better!
Although funny they advertise using several games that have no firm release date.
They are both good, but this had better build up, better flow, and the games reveal actually gave me goosebumps.
I think the Western advert focused on the player by showcasing diversity and how we all are all explores and so forth.
The Japanese one just sold the product and the experience of gaming.
I mean.... yes... but it doesn’t have Bugsnax so... 0 : )
Isn't it odd to put all this money into ads when all the current stock is sold out. Surely better to put the money into ads when people can walk into a store or go online and actually buy one? What do I know I guess. Much better ad than than our one though.
@MightyDemon82 cool I couldn't remember if it was or not. I always thought it was funny having a Japanese game that I could switch to English. I've still got my launch 40gb PS3 model and a 60gb launch model with PS2 compatibility swapped a graphics card for it in cex lol with a 1tb sshd in both until Sony get their act together only way we can play the old games
It feels like the Anglophone advert was focused on the US market without considering how much better this version would go down on Europe.
Way better. Ads won't sway me though. Looking forward to all the reviews and comparisons.
I kind of like the history of their idiosyncratic ads that on the surface don't have much to do with gaming. The English VO lacks a dramatic edge though.
Also possibly didn't go with this style as only one of those games is a launch title?
@koffing And it's all the better for it. 😂
@phil_j Two of them; Spider-man and Demon's Souls. 👍
Really liked this advert. There's nothing more important when advertising a console than games. Certainly, adverts like the Xbox birth-death one sticks in your mind like an advert should, but you always need games in there to show people what to expect from the console.
Those very brief seconds of Demon's Souls goes a long way to remind me that THE DAYS ARE GOING BY TOO DAMN SLOWLY! The 12th to the 19th are going to be the worst though. 😩
That’s a cool advert
I would be happier if Ratchet and clank had an actual release date. Instead of the launch window which is anywhere from November 12 to probably March
Yeah, but it's not cinematic now is it? Stop trying to gets us cinematographers out of business, it's a vibe.
What's the point in an advert for a product you can't buy?
