Crumpets! Just how good does Sackboy: A Big Adventure look? Sony’s been quietly building hype for this quaint co-op platformer for weeks now with a series of new trailers, but the title was arguably the star of the PlayStation 5’s user interface presentation. Clearly, the platform holder has put a lot of work into ensuring the Sumo Digital developed release takes advantage of all the next-gen console’s features and functions, but even without all of that deep integration, it looks a joy, doesn’t it?
While we didn’t get to see a tremendous amount of new footage, the art style is really on-point, with a homemade hub map paving way to all of the title’s stages. In the game itself, we see some gorgeous ray traced reflections on the prize bubbles, while all of the texture work is top-class. It just looks like a delight, and the perfect launch title to both showcase the new features of the format and to play with family and friends. Move over, Knack – there’s a new launch game hero in town.

This game looks amazing!
This game is starting to click with me. Obviously as an LBP fan I'm definitely happy the IP is still being strongly pushed by Sony alongside Ratchet since all their other platformer IPs have either gone multiplatform like Spyro and Crash, or are just being underutilized as hell like Sly Cooper
What I'd kill for now is a remaster of the PS Vita game since it was probably one of the best exclusives on the console that wasn't ported to PS4 and is easily my favorite of the series, although I think the PSP entry is also criminally underrated.
I thought the game looked really good. It's been a while since I've played a 3d platformer like this, and this looks like just the game to scratch that itch. It looks so charming, and just pure fun. Can't wait!
Does look good, but is it confirmed to have ray tracing? I'm just wondering, because there are reflections on the metal jars in Spyro Reignited Trilogy and that's obviously not ray traced.
Also, I'm actually disappointed that there isn't a Knack 3 to kick off the new generation.
It was in stark contrast to the state Destruction Allstars was in. Did you see the way the characters were morphing into the ground when the photo was being taken? It looks half finished and has flop written all over it.
Back on topic, Sackboy does indeed look rather lovely!
It looks like Sackboy but in the Tearaway world - a game that was awesome in its own right.
This game looks great and very much reminds me of something like Mario 3d World but seeing how integrated it is with all the PS5's new features convinced me to pull the trigger and get it at launch. Really can't wait to play this one
@DarthAmmii I've literally just downloaded Tearaway! I'll play it after I'm done with Killzone Shadow Fall!
This seems more complicated than it has to be.
@Bentleyma- from the trailers I've seen it looked to be screen spaced reflections and there's no mention of it on the Playstation website where as it is for Miles Morales
I'm more excited about this game after the ui reveals, the game looks like mario 3d world on wii u which I like
Got this game as my PS5 bundle pack and I can't be more excited!
The more I see the more I'm tempted to get it on day one. On a side note I was just on ps now and noticed in the game description of most games said playable on ps5, while not a massive suprise, guess Sony just getting everything ready for launch.
I'm looking forward to the playroom, but honestly, I never liked LBP that much. It always felt like a wonky platformer with iffy floaty controls. LBP3 kinda felt cumbersome with it's gadgets too. This is just the easiest pass for me.
Game looks glorious! Really hoping for a meaty game with ton of levels and variety.
Sackboy look good, but I’m still waiting for the digital foundry deep dive video into if the bubbles reflections were ray traced or not to place a pre-order./s
Looks beautiful and cute and all, but I’d need to hear way more about gameplay to consider buying it at launch.
Random Question: For those of us that have a console preordered, how many games you have preordered with it? Just curious... Seems like a good poll! @get2sammyb
@Bentleyma- There's a fixed position bubble on the upper left side on the screen (like a score bubble or sort) that reflects what's "behind/around" as the camera goes around. That caught my eye as something special.
