We don’t actually know what the deal will be with regards to free PlayStation Plus games on the PlayStation 5 yet. The platform holder will continue to giveaway two PlayStation 4 titles every month which will presumably be playable with backwards compatibility, and there will be the new PS Plus Collection for all subscribers to enjoy – but will there be free PS5 games every month as well?
Some had suspected that indie title The Pathless could be the first, as it was dated for the next-gen console’s launch this week, without a price point attached. Annapurna Interactive confirmed that more information would be announced later this month, leading some to draw comparisons to the Fall Guys situation earlier this year. However, that’s not the case:
This is just another thing that Sony’s going to have to clarify over the next month and a bit, as we await more information on the PS5 and its launch. Are you expecting free PS5 games every month as part of your subscription, or do you think the PS Plus Collection will fill that purpose for the time being? Let us know in the comments section below.

Absolutely insane that we don't know how PS Plus will work on PS5 and there's little over a month until launch.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they just scrapped the free games and replaced it with that collection of PS4 games. No chance they’d miss out on £70 sales.
I doubt we'll be seeing PS5 games on Plus at launch like with PS4. Not much need for it right away when there's the two PS4 games each month, as well as the collection.
EDIT: And there's that Astro Bot game if you really need a free PS5 title at launch specifically.
I reckon around Spring/Summer next year they'll add one or two PS5 games to the monthly selection, most likely just the one.
Speaking of the PS+ Collection... I'm looking forward to seeing what brute force does to Bloodborne's loading and frame rates.
If PlayStation does not have PS5 games on PSPlus there is a good chance I will drop it after 10 years of continued membership.
The way Sony are charging £70 per game, even for Destruction All-stars, there's no chance in hell PS5 games will drop on the system until at least a year after launch. In fairness to both Sony and Microsoft, with the cross gen games offering free games when the launch libraries are going to be relatively slim is not an easy thing to do. Would be nice if they maybe offered one PS5 game as opposed to two on PS4 to compensate for this...
But I've given up expecting Sony to actually give me anything next gen...
I reckon they might give away that destruction all stars game if that's the one I'm thinking of that has microtransactions. Kind of makes sense that sort of game being on plus for them if they can recoup the costs through mtx
Why the hell would The Pathless be on PS Plus the day it releases? Are we know expecting any of the indies showcased during the first PS5 event to there day one?
Yea, let's hope Little Devil Inside is a PS Plus too the day it releases... /s
I can see some of them coming to the PS Plus in the future though, not release date. That's more realistic to me.
This absolutely should be a plus freebie it’s coming to Apple Arcade the same day and that’s $5 a month
The audacity to ask the devs that. Gamers have become super entitled.
Your not getting brand new ps5 games for free on ps plus what’s wrong with you lot. You shouldn’t realistically expect that until at least a year (6months at the earliest).
I miss the "ruled out" part of the articles, I though the game will be the first ps5 psplus games
this lack of information gives me a bad feeling..if ps+ is devalued then all they do is to make gamepass even more attractive..sony is walking a thin line there..
@rpg2000 Well, to be fair, they did that with the PS4. Contrast was free at launch.
Destruction Allstars should be a free ps plus game based on what ive seen. My guess is that there wont be any free ps5 games for a while and Sony will add to the PS Plus collection instead.
@get2sammyb was resogun there at launch too?
@Rob_230 I believe it was, yes! And then it was, erm, the horror game the month after. Outlast!
thought we got a big collection of games PS5 ready on launch day? they showed it in the last video not expecting more on top of that for a few months.
Unfortunate as I was really looking forward to using Sony's newest technological marvel to walk around and discover lore. 😝
At least an indie game at launch by a new studio possibly or a well known studio but will deffo be an indie at launch
I think for at least the first year of ps pluse we will only see the 2 ps4 titles each month witch will be backwards compatible with the ps5. And then after the first year as more ps5 exclusive will have launched through the first year. we might see 2 ps4 games and 1 ps5 game (will most likely be indi title) after year one, but I think it will take a good year and a half to 2 years before we see ps5 exclusive being the main title of ps pluse and ps4 games will start becoming less frequent.
I wouldn't be surprised if they give away remastered versions of PS4 games, such as Uncharted.
Good, it looks bad.
@Optimusprime706 What utter ***** they shouldnt do that the game looks good enough too release in it own.
I would love to get some early indie titles. The only time PS+ freebies have been beneficial to me is when they offer the games I wouldn't normally buy (digital only titles) which generally end up being indies. That being said I don't want this game. I am not a fan of the "art simulator" style of games.
We're already getting GTAV which I haven't played since it first came out nearly 8 years ago, so I'm looking forward to playing that again. We also get Astro's Playroom, 18 classic PS4 games (7 of which I haven't played) and a couple of the normal PS+ games as usual. That with Demon's Souls, Cyberpunk 2077 and the excitement of a new console to play them on is a hell of a lot to look forward to.
I love a good moan as much as the next person, but I think we need to get some perspective. Realistically, what more can you expect Sony to launch their new console with?
