Overcooked is not necessarily the type of game you’d expect to benefit significantly from the PlayStation 5’s boosted horsepower, but the upcoming All You Can Eat Edition is definitely looking scrumptious on Sony’s next-gen hardware. Team 17 has released the comparison trailer embedded above, and in addition to smooth 60 frames-per-second gameplay, you should also spy more detailed textures, set-dressing, and vastly improved lighting and shadows.
This is a compilation, featuring the original game, its sequel, and a bunch of add-on content all in one place. It means that the first release now features online multiplayer, with the remaster supporting cross-platform play. There are also exclusive new levels designed specifically for this version, making it the most complete kitchen simulation yet.
Check out some comparison screenshots:

Man, that's a big upgrade.
Rtx off vs Rtx on
While this is a big upgrade, I'm not sure why they couldn't get a version like this new one running on PS4 hardware? Is it a case of a game not being efficiently optimised and thus needing upgraded hardware and resources to run a relatively modest game?
@NeuralDeclan I guess funding a new product like this allowed them to invest extra resources into it, and with the levels already designed they could spend more budget on the presentation, etc.
It looks better, but not next generationally better. More like they added some shading and lighting enhancements.
Edit: Ok, its easier to see the updates (and they are substantial) in the comparison screenshots than in the video
I might pick this up, as long as it has a retail copy.
@get2sammyb fair point - possibly a case that the release of the PS5 has let them dedicate more time that they wouldn't have otherwise, rather than they were waiting for the specific hardware performance that the PS5 brings 👍
I’m sure the biggest change will be the feel of 60fps. Lack of load times also. Anything other than lighting I doubt I can see on my phone on a sub 4K screen
@thefourfoldroot Look at the comparison screenshots, not the video. The video isn't very helpful in seeing the full scope of the visual changes, but the screenshots are night and day.
Cool, but still wondering if they will add the co-op levels they never finished from the first game. There was apparently like 4 or 5 unfinished maps that they scrapped for time constraints.
@thedevilsjester
Yes, I see now. It seems that as well as being able to hit 60fps they had the overhead available to do that with much more density of objects on screen.
I’m Noticing , main differences in these PS4 and ps5 comparisons the colours are just so much better
Day one for me. Looking forward to fights with my wife plus ray tracing
This is the only game other than Mario kart I can play with my girlfriend... hurry and tell me how much? Currently have Overcooked 2 through PLUS... so this is both games with all DLC? Awesome
The real question is...are they gonna add the ability to throw to the original overcooked levels?
Big upgrade but I always kinda dug the lo-fi look. I guess with the success of the series they have a bit more budget to cook with now.
@get2sammyb I'm looking for some clarification on the cross platform play for this game, I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm thinking about getting this for my mom for Christmas and I wanted to know if it has or will have cross platform play with the PS4. I'm also wondering if I'd have to own the remaster version for PS4 or if I could play with her through my copy of Overcooked 2.
