There are some reports swirling that Until Dawn’s loading times, like The Last of Us Remastered, have been improved on the PlayStation 4. This all started with a post on Twitter, but it’s since been upvoted on Reddit, and has even been posted on some major websites. Unfortunately, it’s not true.
The last patch for Supermassive Games’ uber-popular slasher horror was released in 2015, but improvements to loading can be attained by enabling Boost Mode on the PS4 Pro. The game is included as part of the PS Plus Collection on the PlayStation 5, and Sony has been updating some of its legacy titles ahead of the next-gen console’s launch, so it could yet get optimised – but unfortunately, this latest round of speculation is merely wishful thinking.

"doesn't load at all" reads to me as "we've broken the game". I prefer it when my games load to be honest
As someone who writes news for a website it really bothers me when sites can't even be bothered to fact check something before putting up a story with false information. Looking at you as the latest one Eurogamer.
Everyone gets it wrong sometimes. It’s hard to verify Twitter sources but some like Wario64 are so rarely wrong that you can’t outright dismiss Twitter either.
Literally just platinumed this
had a lot of fun playing this, even replayed it not too long ago, lots of dumb fun
I thought it would be a fun Halloween game streamed for 3.5 hours on Twitch last night & will complete the play next Saturday on Halloween. Run game 5 years later
Come to think of it, Until Dawn runs at an uncapped fps right? If so, hope playing on PS5 allows it to run at 60fps.
@Leon_93 At least stable 30fps would be nice. The game is quite choppy, same as Man of Medan. Until Dawn was their first AAA debut so I can forgive that but even after several games the tech side is still the same. Little Hope will be better hopefully.
@SilenceCZ In the case of Until Dawn, it was actually build on the Decima Engine (HZD engine). Man of Medan and the sequel was build using a different engine. Other than that i do agree with your statement.
@Leon_93 If it was Decima, then it’s understandable they use a different one now since it’s multi platform series. But it’s very interesting to see that the tech problems are exactly the same even though they changed the engine. FPS plus very visible texture pop-in. It’s quite a big contrast combined with their ultra nice textures and character models.
I remember the Until Dawn demo at Gamescom I played was WAY more buggy so in comparison the final product was quite perfect.
OH! If Man of Medan was uncapped as well, that would explain why Curator’s Cut was way less choppy than the Theatrical Cut since in between I changed my thermal paste and cleaned the console! It seemed odd
@SilenceCZ Yup, thankfully Until Dawn was much better in the retail build than the demo. For me, man of medan was downgraded graphically when compare to UD. I am hoping little hope improve from there both in performance and graphics.
I restarted Until Dawn this weekend on my OG PS4 and tbh I have no issues with loading times? It holds up pretty well graphically, if anything the last act needs a patch lmao still love this game!
Until Dawn. So good I platinumed it twice.
Dammit I just want a sequel!
Can we maybe not with the conclusion jumping already? They're demo units, the firmware probably isn't final. People who had the Series X demo units couldn't even show the dashboard because it wasn't a final build, I imagine the PS5 has some last minute kinks Sony are working out before it actually launches. Save your pitchforks for when the system is officially out, everything is finalized, and we can test it for ourselves.
I played through this once and was done. The trophy guides on these games kills it for me so I don’t do it.
Will happily play a second semi-blind play through on PS5, I played it very close to when it originally released, don’t remember much!
I did manage rush of blood in VR, after months of chickening out
Been thinking of playing this again might squeeze it in before ps5 arrives. Just been playing cod and FIFA this weekend. Haven't played cod since December and was pleasantly surprised with how good I still am on it and there was loads of new maps since last time I played, think last time I played it only had the first set of maps.
Correct information aside, why are we getting an article about this game in particular?
Ban Twitter for good !
So someone posted complete BS on Twitter, and half the internet has taken it as absolute truth? 🤔
Huh. There's a novelty. Never known that to happen before.
I played until dawn and got to the end, then I sold it! I have always regretted selling it. I'd like to play it again.
@GeneJacket Are you sure you posted this in the right article, or am I missing something? This article is about a rumor of decreased load times for a PS4 game, being played on the PS4.
The only mention of the PS5 is that its listed as a freebie for the up coming PS+ Collection on that system, and that the rumor is that they are being updated (on the PS4) in anticipation of that, with those updates are having dramatic impact on loading times while playing on the PS4.
Would like to see a sequel,(or new setting/characters etc.),too. Unfortunately with Supermassive tied up with Stadia post Little Anthology,(& they've been a bit hit & miss since Until Dawn),& Quantic Dream going multi-format, there's a bit of a gap in suitable 2nd party devs to work on any exclusives/sequel atm.
If it needed any patch,it was to call out Ashley for being a manipulative snake-in-the-grass sooner & have her catch up with the Windigos!
can't wait to watch my fiance play through this on PS5! she's not a gamer at all and I think it will be hilarious to see
I enjoyed this game I never had a problem very surprised it's buggy,
This game needs a resolution patch and higher grade shadows.
