Many of you will have already experienced it through to the very end, but for us lot still waiting to get our hands on the PlayStation 5 (hurry up Thursday), Astro's Playroom is still a seriously exciting prospect. This scribe is going to kickstart the generation by playing the free pack-in game first while Demon's Souls and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales download in the background, and it's Reddit posts such as the one below that only ramps up the anticipation. The love letter to all things PlayStation has some neat little touches that you might not immediately pick up on, one of which can be found in its raindrops.
Yes, those symbols look rather familiar, don't they? As demonstrated in the video, the raindrops of Astro's Playroom form the classic PlayStation buttons once they collide with a surface. The Astro Bot even has its own little umbrella, which is also pretty cute. This is all quite clearly the result of a team seriously in love with all things PlayStation.
Have you noticed any other cool little details in Astro's Playroom? Did you play it first, before any other PS5 game? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

The CPU Plaza takes place in a PS5. Looking up will show you the lights/vents, and the walls are covered in Playstation symbols, just like the faceplates
I've been absolutely blown away by Astro's Playroom. I would rank it among my favorite PlayStation exclusives ever and favorite platformers ever. It's an extraordinary, joyful game.
I remember Bound did that too
I love the game to bits. It has so many nods and cool details.
Was just reading about this one on ResetEra the blew my mind a little bit: https://www.resetera.com/threads/astros-playroom-features-iconic-playstation-industry-vets-as-serial-numbers-on-all-the-artifacts-easter-egg.326366/
Fantastic game! Finished it already, but have been going back to collect everything and get the platinum. Can’t put it down, and I have Demon’s Souls! So much personality, and really enjoying all the bots acting out PlayStation franchises. Hope they make a much longer, more robust sequel. Astro bot Go!
That's a cool detail 😃
The work that went into this game is very impressive. Could've just been a throw-away tech demo that showed off a few cool features of the Dualsense but Asobi delivered much, much more.
@get2sammyb wow! That is cool.
That's a really cool touch that I would not have noticed. Thanks for sharing.
EDIT: So I have a Google app showing me when PS5s become available for me to not be able to buy...and one just popped up for $2,000 through an Amazon reseller and sold in less than 5 minutes. Sheesh. My PS4 Pro and backlog with Days Gone, God of War and Persona 5 to finish, along with Horizon to start, will suit me just fine until the insanity ends.
@RBMango
Have you ever played Astro Bot Rescue Mission on PSVR? This is, hands down, the most wonderful, joyous, incredible platformer ever made. Never thought I’d get the Mario 64 wonder back, but just like the jump to “3D” platforming there, the jump to true 3D VR immersion is a game changer. Really can’t recommend it highly enough, even if you have to spend £200 on PSVR just got this game it’s worth it (you don’t, there are many other almost as great PSVR experiences).
@thefourfoldroot I have and I loved it! VR normally makes me horribly motion sick, but Rescue Mission gave me no trouble from beginning to end. And it was a really fun and awe-inspiring game on top of that.
@RBMango
It was phenomenal and how all platformers should be in future. It was the first game I played in PSVR and apart from that very first jolt when the camera moved forward for the first time, I had no motion sickness at all.
I'm curious if you have the digital edition of the PS5 if the console in the Labo will reflect that.
