Studio MDHR has delayed Cuphead’s Delicious Last Course DLC until 2021, which is probably for the best considering the size and scale of our backlog. The add-on content – slated to release on the PlayStation 4 at the same time as all other platforms – was first announced all the way back in 2018, so it’s taking a little time to cook.
Still, the team explained that it won’t settle “for this final chapter to be anything less than our best work” and that “meeting this standard has been extremely challenging for us amid the global pandemic that has affected so many our fellow developers”. It added: “Rather than compromise on our vision in response to COVID, we’ve made the difficult decision to push back the release.”
That’s fair, we reckon. “We know many of you have been waiting to return to the Inkwell Isles,” it concluded, “and our goal is to make the trip back there next year a truly magical one.” In the meantime, you can always try and get the Platinum in the core game. Oh, don’t be silly – only PS5 architect Mark Cerny is that mad!

So it's releasing next century?
Fun fact, the time it will take to release this is actually the same length of time from the date of Max Fleischer’s birth until now.
I kind of forgot that there was upcoming DLC to be honest. The base game was excellent, so I'll pick up the expansion once it releases.
My son and I were gung ho on Cuphead at first, but now that we're on the second island, plays are few and far between. There was a massive ramp up in difficulty. Sackboy has our attention these days, and is much less rage inducing.
Then it’ll release in 2022, then 2023, then 2024, then 2025, then 2026, then 2027, then 2028, then 2029, then 2030
Sweet. Gives me time to attempt bee lady another 500 times to no avail.
I love Cuphead a lot more than it loves me. Still, I can’t wait to see MDHR’s creative juices pumping again.
@Jayslow I didn’t find the bee lady too hard, it was mostly the bloody genie, dragon and bird I struggled with. And the final two bosses, ohhhh man they’re hard.
The real question is: Will it be a physical version once the DLC is released?
Already have this on pc and switch, but playing this with ps4 gamepad seems nice, and the game is discounted on psn 🤔
@wiiware You can play it on PC with the PS4 gamepad. I did exactly that.
The only way I would do a double dip would be with a disc version that includes the new DLC
@Makina I like to play it on big tv, and it's a hassle to connect my pc to tv. Also maybe I'm wrong, but I remember only dualsense that's supported natively by steam client.
@wiiware Dualshock has a full support in Steam as far as I know.
There is supposedly a physical version coming when all DLC has been released.
@Matej Oh cool, I usually play with xbox one gamepad on pc since it has better battery (using official play & charge kit), but I’m interested using dualsense if that gamepad support haptics natively on pc games.
@wiiware FWIW you can use Sony's controllers on PC via USB and then battery isn't an issue. It's far less annoying that way for a device you're sat next to than one on the other side of the room.
Alas both my PC and PS5 sit on/in my media unit
@theheadofabroom I play wireless on pc since my desktop is a bit far from my desk.
@wiiware I remember buying the official USB adapter to play some games but after official support it was useless heh. But it is nice Steam is implementing support for different controllers.
@Matej Yup, one of the nice things about pc/steam is it's flexibility, from mods to controller and others. Also epic games store free games is quite nice, I've got a couple of good indie games from it (the messanger, ape out, ruiner, etc)
@wiiware Absolutely! We are living in a really fantastic times for gaming.
Off topic: PS5's are sold so far with 2 different fans. Some have fans with 17 blades (from Nidec) and others have fans with 23 blades (from Delta). Apparently the ones with a Nidec fan are having those rattling noise issues and are a bit louder (4dB).
@nessisonett that genie😭😭 still not managed to complete this game. My wife used to make me take a break when i started swearing at it 😂
God this game was so good. The sheer work and passion that went into it is palpable. But seriously, f that dragon.
@Kidfunkadelic83. Great game i like it a lot.bring on the dlc.word up son
@God_of_Nowt I hope you're able to complete it in someone elses lifetime! Beautiful game, but, yes, nails hard.
@wiiware Cuphead works 100% with DS4.
It has native DirectInput support with PS4 prompts (triangle, square, L2, etc).
I have the game on GOG, which don't have the Steam gamepad compat layer.
I guess there was a positive side in getting it so late on PlayStation. I definitely want more and the wait must have been hard for day one fans. Really enjoyed the game btw, thank you to everyone recommending it.
@nessisonett the dragon and the clown were EVIL! Had me trying really hard 🥵
I still need to play the base game, so this is great news!
@Rjak Interesting, thanks for sharing. Mine has Nidec one for sure.
