Cyberpunk 2077 was meant to release later this week, but it was of course delayed once again. Now scheduled for 10th December, the gigantic sci-fi RPG is now just a few weeks away after a seriously drawn-out development. One retailer employee has given fans a glimmer of hope that it really will launch next month, with photos of point-of-sale display materials for the game arriving in store.
Reddit user Mikeymorphin shared an image of promotional Cyberpunk stuff, such as balloons, banners, and card display boxes. Today, the same user has shared a couple more photos of said display boxes, which mirror the physical game's cover art. In the top right corner, it's revealed that if you buy a boxed version of the PlayStation 4 game, it will come on two Blu-ray discs, just like The Last of Us: Part II and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The other image shows the back of the box, which reveals the minimum storage required for the game. According to this box, Cyberpunk 2077 will take up a minimum of 70GB on your PS4's hard drive. In the grand scheme of things, that doesn't sound too bad.
We're lined up to learn a little more about CD Projekt RED's anticipated title very soon, as the latest Night City Wire broadcast goes live on 19th November.

Silly question maybe but why, if the instal size is so small, does it need to come on two discs?
I think I'll go digital on this one and smash it from midnight to the breakadawn on release.
@thefourfoldroot PS4 uses regular blu ray discs with a capacity of 50gb so anything between 50-100gb needs two discs. PS5 uses double layer BDXL discs with 100gb capacity so assuming the PS5 version is still <100gb it'll be one disc
I was today years old when I found out RDR2 had two discs... just checked and my copy is single disk?
@ApostateMage Quite the opposite for me, I'll order it physical cause most of the time I'll get the game 1-5 days before the official release date ^^
I'll wait for ps5 version since I want to play it best on next-gen console
How does 2 disc work btw? As in will it come in 2 parts so you need the correct disc when playing the corresponding part?
Also why not have only one disc and then the rest is downloaded from the PS store?
@KPraj No, one CD is only for installing, the other CD also for installing + for playing the game, there is no need to switch the CD while playing
And if you would have to download the rest of the game, people would complain like they do with Switch games where that is the case
@NeuralDeclan Very few people are going to wait for the ps5 version,when they know they will be upgraded free by buying the ps4 version now. I know im not waiting. 2 versions for the price of 1,why would you not want that?
@NeuralDeclan @graysoncharles
Oh, right, so why do other larger instal games come on one disc? Does it download the rest and just use the disc as a key? If so, I much prefer the multi disc method (although I do get flashbacks to getting to the 4th disc of Lost Odyssey only to find it didnβt work).
@mariomaster96
Let's be honest this game is probably going to get patched fairly heftily after release so they'll be downloading anyway!
@hulkie I too will be getting the PS4 version on my PS5, it's just that I'll be getting the digital download version instead because I can't be dealing with two discs!
Yeah I expected this
@NeuralDeclan You can't get up to swap a disc once? Come on man have you ever had a PS1 or used floppies
@thefourfoldroot which games in particular are you thinking of? My copy of RDR2 has a data disc and a play disc separately, and all my other physical games are <50gb. Anything else larger than 50gb I've gone digital for.
I hope this doesn't cause issues when I put it in my PS5 π I can see from comments it shouldn't but with all the patches and delays it just worries me a bit.
Hoping they announce the launch date of the PS5 version on Thursday
@PegasusActual93 it's a bit trickier given that I have a digital only PS5 π
70GB before the massive day one patch theyβve been developing. Also, please letβs not call this an RPG. Even the back of the game box calls it a science fiction action game. Nothing about this game comes off as an RPG in the slightest
@Rabovo yeah sameπ€·ββοΈ
I want this game up my bum so bad
Still gutted this isnβt launching with a next gen version π
@jmac1686 I think the heavy personal customisation and the fluid/changing storyline along with choosing a certain starting character profile all lend itself to having some sort of RPG element. Perhaps not an RPG in the fullest sense but definitely has borrowed ideas and alot of rules that RPGs tend to follow.
@Total_Weirdo You can play it on PS5 from day one but it won't have a "proper" PS5 version till next year at some point, CDPR haven't confirmed when. It will still be optimized for PS5 if you play the PS4 version as far as I'm aware.
@hulkie A lot of people will probably pick up the PS4 disc for the free upgrade, but will wait for the next-gen upgrade to play. That could be a year away, so waiting and picking up a cheap PS4 disc makes sense.
Iβm going to wait for the inevitable Complete Edition on PS5.
if this gets another delay I'm going to be pissed
I wish I could wait for the PS5 version but nowayno. I'll play through Gameboost and hopefully transfer my save or start a new life path when PS5 version releases.
Pre-ordered the physical disc version. Will be playing it on PS5 until it gets the full next gen upgrade π
@Sladey69 I hope I never pick up one of your used games from CEX.
@ApostateMage no returnsπ€
@deathaxe removed? What's that?
@Sladey69 maybe we missed the last half of the game ππ
@thefourfoldroot a Blu-ray can only hold 25gb or 50gb of data. If the base game, not including the day 0 patch, is 70gb, it'll have to be on two discs. One of them will be just data and the other will be data and be responsible for playing the game
@ApostateMage i just pre-ordered a physical copy of the game from bestbuy a week ago since it comes with a free steel book (black friday deal) but I'm honestly worried about getting it on time
CDPR should be admired!
They care so much for game preservation.
They have shown that with their DRM-free practices on GOG and my favorite is the fact that they put the WHOLE Witcher 3 + the DLCs on ONE cartridge for the Switch!
If I am not mistaken this is the first 32GB cartridge to be released outside of Japan.
@Rabovo wait till we until we get the dlc up there aswell!
@Rabovo What ever were you trying to say here?:
"I was today years old when I found out RDR2 had two discs... just checked and my copy is single disk?"
RDR2 is on two discs; one install disc and one play disc, no?
@gamer_since_83 βjust checked and my copy is a single diskβ was what I was trying to say.... π€
Brings back memories of Shenmue on dreamcast 4 disks of QTE goodness lol.
π₯± just BRING IT!
@ApostateMage
That's exactly what I'm going to do usually I always pre-order physical copies as long as it's only one CD but if it's more than two CDs I'm not buying it I'll get the digital version and download the whole game ππ So I'm definitely pre-ordering cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One X ππ
@Rabovo I don't think that part of the comment was the part they had trouble understanding...
With future patches and DLC I'm sure this game will end up close to 100gb, but not surprising, I suppose!
Remember playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and having to change disc ingame?
@wiiware The game will run well on ps5 plus you'll get a free robust next gen upgrade next year. So it won't make a difference =). That's the only reason why I did not feel like waiting. =) Don't need to pay for it twice thank god =)
@80sGamer Leaked gameplay footage suggests it runs fairly well. Understandable seeing as it was developed for ps4/xboxone
@David187 That would be a PR nightmare, they have already invested a ton of money into the game. Plus the investors are pretty pissed. It shouldn't be delayed again
If I buy the ps4 disc version will I be able to upgrade it to the ps5 disc version when it releases
