Whilst we're sat at the dining table eating our breakfast in the morning, we like to imagine the CEO of Embracer Group was up and ready to go three hours before us preparing plans to buy yet another developer. And they do this every single day of the week. Yes, the company that THQ Nordic and Koch Media both fall under has just purchased another 13 studios. Those range from Shadow Warrior team Flying Wild Hog through to Zen Pinball developer Zen Studios. Embracer Group now owns 58 different teams. Madness.
The other developers are A Thinking Ape Entertainment, Snapshot Games, Nimble Giant Entertainment, 34BigThings, Mad Head Games, Sandbox Strategies LLC, Purple Lamp Studios, IUGO Mobile Entertainment, Quantic Lab SRL, Coffee Stain North, and Silent Games. That sure is a lot of developers, some of which will be drafted into Saber Interactive to bolster their production efforts. "The aggregated day one purchase price for the Acquisitions amounts to approximately SEK 2.0 billion on a cash and debt free basis."

911, I would like to report a kidnapping.
Monopoly is never a good in the end for us customers, that's how I see this.
Interesting - Devolver digital currently publish Shadow Warrier so wonder what happens with them?
Microsoft. You are getting beating.

need to step up. 23 are rookie numbers
Another day in the officer for formerly THQ Nordic. 😅
I’m convinced this is a money laundering scheme.
However, as long as TimeSplitters comes back- it’s fine
Scrolling through there subsidiary wiki page... it's scary how many names i recognize
I think embracer is either preparing for streaming future/making their own streaming service, or to become mega publisher like ea, activision, or ubisoft.
This gives me Atari 2003 vibes, and I can't say I'm loving this.
Embracer is gonna become a massive force by the end of the decade.
They are basically buying small teams before they erupt in popularity. It's an interesting strategy. For every 10 teams one might grow into a great developer, and to buy them early to boost their Portfolio, it's impressive. Very scary practice for the industry, but impressive nonetheless.

Could we be looking at more ports, of current gen(ps4/xbo) games for the switch?
Force Zen to make more PSVR Pinball tables. The ones they’ve made so far have been brilliant. We need more!!!
Ever notice how all the good games, all the 1's (as opposed to 'insert game name here' 2, 3, 4, etc.), are done by independent studios? Then these studios are bought up, they claim it's a good thing because they will have access to more cash and resources, and they lose all creativity, stop making original games, and start making 2, 3, 4, and on and on, each just a little worse than the one before it? Or is it just me?
@LordSteev to be fair there's often a "big project" the founders had in mind when they started the company, which they build up to, release to critical acclaim, and then they're out of ideas.
See Valve with Half-Life 2. Everything good since then has been through acquisitions.
