Rick and Morty are not exactly strangers to PlayStation marketing campaigns, having partnered with the platform holder for last year’s Death Stranding launch. Now the double-act are back with a new PlayStation 5 commercial, but Rick seems more interested in the bung of dollar bills he’s received from Sony.
“This is the PlayStation 5,” stammers Morty. “It's really fast. It's super-fast. Like, way less of those long loading screens, you know?” Rick concludes that you should “go play PS5” once he’s done counting his cash, and that’s pretty much the end of the commercial. It’s already had over one million views on YouTube, so job done, we suppose?

They'd be bettor off spending their millions promoting this thing when it actually became available to buy for everyone
Sure. Promote a system that no one can find right now. That makes a lot of sense.
I always like how the Rick and Morty commercials poke fun at what they're advertising.
How the Pringles commercial made the company sound like a big evil corporation.
Kind of silly to tell people to go out and buy a system they won't find anywhere, it probably won't be widely available in months. But the commercial without context is pretty good 👍
@Akurusu someone really salty because he didn’t get a ps5 😂🤣.
@Akurusu what planet do you live on? Sony and MS have spent months promoting consoles that weren't available to buy so that when they are you'll want one. What a dumb thing to say. How do you not understand how marketing works? 😆😆😆
Lol this is brilliant. I love Rick and Morty, this is a match made in heaven
@Akurusu. Say no to drugs ok.you not making no sense at all.word up son
Tried R&M once. Lasted about 10 minutes into the first episode before I switched it off. Fortunately, it'll have no bearing on my desire to (eventually) get a PS5.
@Mad-Vampire Akurusu You can't expect them to go silent right now. This best thing they can do right now is reminding people what to buy when it does become available again. Happened to the Switch as well, it was sold out for months, but the marketing meant that it was a hot item, and now it's on track of becoming one of the best selling systems. A good start is very important for a console's lifespan.
Rick and Morty is one of those shows that’s great despite the fandom being absolutely unbearable. I do find the use of them advertising stuff a bit weird though, it’s on-the-nose in a not exactly funny way. Plus I’m still salty over not getting a PS5 😂
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty.
Bring on the next Rik and Morty game!
@Paranoimia Some people seem to think it's streets ahead.
@Bliquid Well it’s hard to be a fan of something if the people you would normally discuss this sort of thing with are utterly dreadful.
@PossibLeigh Each to their own. I tried it on the recommendation of a friend, but just found the characters incredibly irritating right from the off.
@Paranoimia oh, I actually agree with you. It's okay, but not as amazing as many seem to think. Bit too hyper for me. I give it some latitude because I adore Dan Harmon's previous show, Community. The streets ahead thing was a nerdy reference just in case you were a fan too. Sorry. Being an ass!
@Hyperluminal And don't forget the PS5 Pro that will be launching next Christmas, with simultaneous 4k and 120FPS.
@PossibLeigh streets ahead is verbal wildfire!
If 2020 has taught us anything it is to expect the unexpected. Do not burn cash reserves to on dumb stuff.
Maybe we are all characters within Rick's created game, been advertised to by the creator of his own game, making us belive that we are in control, when in fact this is all just a rouse to keep us knowing the truth...
@markkoo I bought the Pro a year ago so and i still play on the OG PS4 i live that little *****.
