Did Season just stake its claim for the Best Art Direction category at The Game Awards show for whenever it releases? What an absolutely stunning art style that is from Scavengers Studio, coming to PlayStation 5. Check out the announcement trailer above.
The PlayStation Blog post reads: "Close your eyes, take a deep breath and let yourself be carried away by the journey of Season, a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game. The premise of Season is that you play a traveller recording the last moments of different cultures before they’re washed away. Through the eyes of a young woman from a faraway village, you explore the world for the first time."

Honestly, I would have liked to see something like this as an animated film, it looks pretty dull, gameplay-wise.
Graphic was beautiful but not sure about the gameplay.
I don't even own a bike in real life, and you want me to pay money to pretend to ride a bike while being subjected to generic piano music?
Looks gorgeous. I’m in.
Stunning. Will have to see how the gameplay works out, but I’m not against the odd ‘walking simulator’, if indeed that’s what it is. Dear Esther is an experience that will stick with me for life, among others. Room enough for different experiences - and preferable to cookie cutter clones.
@themightyant I'm with you here. Walking simulators are terrible by name but some of my best gaming experiences include Dear Esther, Gone Home, The Stanley Parable, Everybody's gone to the Rapture. Loved the music so much from Dear Esther and Rapture I went to see Jessica Curry live. She didn't turn up (ill) but those games left as much of an imprint as most 'proper' games last gen. Bring it on!
@StonyKL Jessica Curry Is fab and Raptures soundtrack is wonderful. I have it and listen often. Do you know she does a BBC radio show on gaming (Saturday @3pm BBC radio 3, or catch up but often the music is abridged in that one sadly)
Been holding out on Stanley Parable for the expanded, but delayed, console release. Though I own it on steam through a humble bundle.
Agreed on all the above. At the end of the day it is about memorable experiences in all its forms.
This the most smug looking game I've ever seen. It'll do amazingly well with critics and sell about as well as Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. I'm not proud of this, but I really want this to fail.
@themightyant didn't know this, thanks for the info, will check it out.
@Johnnycide Devs surely deserve to fail since they are creating a game which is not your kind of thing... 😑
@andreoni79 exactly. I'm absolutely not proud of that, and it's sort of a dissonance in that I know they put their heart and soul into this. It's just so smug and worthy looking that there's a part of me that likes to see these games fail.
Hi there fellow gamers. Another highlight from the show.
Looks absolutely stunning from a visual stand point and the premise seems very interesting as well.
I guess we´ll have to see about the gameplay.
But I´m so down for this type of game. We need more games like this. Beautiful and colorful.
Really hope it´s a good one.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
@StonyKL Gone Home that one was brilliant i loved it. Especially when you fill in all the blanks with with all the notes. 😢
@Johnnycide What a nonsense response i got Gone Home with Plus im glad i played it up too 100% with the full story as short as it was it i loved it all the star was the voiceactress. Sometimes there is more too gaming then the standard run and gunning. As i get older i tend too like more different things from a COD or Horizon Zero Dawn or even a a Gone Home.
@sonicmeerkat Nobody is forcing you there tend too be more people in the world then you.
@Flaming_Kaiser I get where you're coming from with that. I really do. Thing is, Gone Home came from nowhere and had something to say. I played it myself on the PC and yeah, it's great. It was also trying to break new ground for LGBTQ+ representation and by god that is absolutely to be applauded. I'm not a fan of CoD or FIFA or any other nonsense. Some of my absolute favourite experiences on PlayStation have been the likes of Journey, Nier Automata, The Binding of Isaac, Nuclear Throne, Soulsborne, Hotline Miami, TLOU2, Axiom Verge, Undertale (which is my favourite game of last gen btw) and a ton of others which aren't exactly AAA.
The thing with this game is that it seems designed to be criticism proof. If you don't like it, you either don't "get it" or you're some kind of thoughtless sheep conditioned to only play yearly franchises. I get that's where you've come from. I really do, but this seems to be so transparently put together by people who want to tick boxes and appear progressive and worthy that it just rings incredibly hollow. If I want an engaging open world I can find so many elsewhere which don't seem to want me to kotow to the Devs. If I want a meditative and quiet piece of gameplay I can find it elsewhere in a more engaging title. If I want something next gen I can lose myself i
(Cont) find that elsewhere. If I want a title with emotional investment then I can absolutely find that in other places. The fact is, this game seems like it wants me to apologize to it before playing, and I don't like that. Therfore, yeah. I want it to fail. There are much more engaging and more exciting titles on the way. I don't need this game at all.
@Flaming_Kaiser You want me to buy a bike?
@Johnnycide I know what you mean criticism isnt accepted. The problem is the game is a mess even after the crunch and 8 years of development it still is not great. It makes me think that the lead was a mess. Its kind of a crime that they told reviewers too use their footage they knew it was a mess.
I am totally up for this. Looks gorgeous, chilled and wholesome. Sign me up.
