It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and we’re not necessarily talking about illuminated trees and Christmas cake. No, it’s that time of the year where we temporarily take some time away from the traditional news cycle in order to bring you some top-notch holiday content. As is always the case, we’ve got multiple articles lined up daily for you, and here’s just some of what you can expect over the course of the next week and a bit:
- Our Game of the Year countdown will begin later today, and for the first time in Push Square history, your votes have helped shape our final result! We’ll be posting the community top ten in the New Year, but for now enjoy daily updates on our favourite PS5 and PS4 games released in 2020.
- Want to know what our team of editors and staff writers voted for? We’ll have our regular Personal Picks articles pretty much daily for the next week and a bit.
- We’re not just celebrating the best games overall, but also our favourite soundtracks, indie titles, and much more. Keep an eye out for tons of different Game of the Year articles discussing the best that 2020 had to offer.
- We’ll have Talking Points for a variety of hot topics in 2020, ranging from service games through to 60 frames-per-second. Find out what we’ve got to say about these subjects, and also be sure to get involved in the comments and vote in polls.
That’s just a small glimpse of what we’ve got in store, but trust us when we say there’s more. In total, we’ve lined up almost 40 different articles to keep you occupied over the holidays, which is a new record. Of course, if there’s any breaking news over the coming days, we’ll be sure to make sure you read it here on Push Square – but otherwise, we’re taking a bit of time out until 2021!

Everyone make sure you vote for GoT, Doom Eternal or Crash 4.
Fingers crossed its GoT. But it will probably be TLoU2.
Merry Christmas PushSqaure team!
Really appreciate you guys for my daily dose of PlayStation news, you’ve kept working throughout the year and planned ahead to keep us entertained through the holidays which is appreciated.
I know it won’t win GotY, but I hope Final Fantasy 7:Remake gets some recognition.
Toss up between GoT & TLOU2.
Both brilliant games, but Ghost just edges it for me personally.
Big shout for DOOM Eternal too.
40 articles?!
Wow, you guys have been busy.
😉
I wonder though how many will descend into the gutter?
🤔
My Top 5 (6) based on the amount of fun I had with these titles.
@DonJorginho That's six, mate.
😉
Its gonna be between GoT or TLOU2 isn't it? Whoever wins there will be people moaning that the wrong game won.
Just something to bear in mind people; opinions are subjective. No one persons opinion is better than anothers, so let's just be civil and respect each other hey? It is Xmas after all.
(I personally loved both games so of either wins I'll be pretty happy).
Haha, it'll probably be Cyberpunk, especially as Push Square haven't got the integrity to score it, even when it's pulled from the PS Store...
Honestly that act has lost Push Square any credibility it once had. Disgusting practice condoning the release of broken games... The worst kind of gaming 'journalism'...
@OneManDroid I think you should check the review again.
@Col_McCafferty I couldn't decide! 😂
It shouldn't be any game that was preachy or dragged on for too long - so that's TLOU2 out.
GoT closely followed by Doom Eternal for me.
Cyberpunk 2077
As long as it's not that divise game I'm okay with either ghost or doom eternal, a game that's bombed with gamers and not selling after 1 month shouldn't be a game of the year I think.
@wiiware bit unsure which game you mean but can't be LOU2 as that out sold virtually all games this year and confusingly Ghost also had drop off in sales after 1 month so I guess you probably don't want that to win either. Do you mean Cyberpunk as I think it's now up to 13 million sales even with the mess it's in.
@wiiware If we're basing Game of the Year on sales now, you can look forward to FIFA and Call of Duty winning every year.
Of course the last of us partt 2 will win here anything else will be sus
@ThroughTheIris56
Because you hate a person you dont even know. Pathetic really
@LiamCroft But how about Raid Shadow Legend, the only true GoTY 😛
@StonyKL I'm not sure what game I'm talking about either, but I heard that game got really bad words of mouth that even the special version is discounted and still not selling 😌
GoT is at 15%, LoU2 at 12% and Miles at 9% according to this poll
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/12/poll_what_is_your_ps5_and_ps4_game_of_the_year_2020
So GoT should win.
Also 40 articles 😳
Although it's not quite my favourite, I'd like to see Fall Guys get some love, as it's brought many people some much-needed laughs in a pretty rough year
GoT, Tlou 2, FF VII remake, all winners imo.
@L3GTRIGA That's just the community vote, which factors into the final list.
We already know it’ll be The Last of Us Part II. No need to keep anyone in suspense.
Demon’s Souls Remake would be mine
Cyberpunk, surely? /s
The last of us part 2 is the big winner for sure
@Gaming365247 Lol wut, who do I hate?
Just want to thank PushSquare for maintaining the best gaming site around! Have a merry Christmas and recharge those batteries
If Marvel Avengers was in a more finished state, it would win hands down.
@OneManDroid They did score it and it got a 3 out of 10, mostly because of how broken it is.
@Quintumply haha! Thanks! It took them long enough to find their b@lls, but I'm really glad they gave it the score they did.. Makes me feel better about my empire of sin preorder.. 😂
Ohh c'mon. It is Tlou2, because you are so crazy about it like there are no other games... ridiculous.
I'd go with Ghost myself, but I missed the poll.
Also dropping in to say I really enjoyed the new Yakuza.
