We’re less than a week away from Christmas now, which means the industry is really beginning to wind down. While it’s no doubt going to be a busy weekend for many of you as you get ready for the big day, hopefully you find a spare moment to squeeze in some video games.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I’m still playing and enjoying Cyberpunk 2077, so that will probably be where I spend the vast majority of my weekend. I must admit, though, I’m beginning to eye-up my sealed copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake, so I don’t think it’ll be too long before I get started with that.
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
At this point I'm done with Cyberpunk 2077. My 65-hour save is completely busted; I've got broken quests all over the place and I can't progress the main story. As such, I'll be going back to my PS5 playthrough of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It's so nice to play a game that doesn't crash every 45 minutes. Really gives you perspective.
What's keeping you busy this weekend? Which games are you playing as you countdown to Christmas? You know the drill by now, so let us know down below.

Am hoping that i can actually join my friends for the new GTA heist after it was disabled on Wed night when it said i had to do the tutorial (did the tutorial years ago). Will also be continuing with Kingdom Hearts tonight and maybe BioShock Burial At Sea DLC.
Playing a couple of demos on steam, anno mutationem, little nightmare 2, and graven.
I'm interested in anno mutationem because the setting looks cool and I'm always down for beautiful 2D games. After playing the demo my hype is through the roof, this will be day one on ps4 for me, I really like this game, the story is interesting, the graphics are really beautiful and somehow reminds me of square psone rpg xenogears, and the gameplay is great too.
I like little nightmare and this game looks better than the first one, and it's scientific fact that adding dolls make your game creepier at least 100%, will get this on ps4.
I can't try this one since the demo period is already gone, but from what I know, graven is first person rpg that's like a mix of hexen and heretic, an old pc first person rpg. You play as a priest that travels and do quest to redeem himself and learn magic spells to defeat the enemy, it looks like a good game.
A mixture of Jedi Fallen Order and Hollow Knight, both games share obvious similarities of course but each one is different from the other.
The former is a really good game, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I have. As someone once said "A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one."
😉
Dathomir though, wow. It's like the designer if this planet had a near death experience and visited Hell and used it for inspiration but just made it 10 times worse!
Hollow Knight was starting to frustrate but eventually beat a boss and more areas have opened up although I'm still a tad lost at where to go next lol. It's a lovely little game though.
Enjoy your gaming weekend folks.
👍
Will continue playing The Pathless. Just reached the third area. The way the puzzles are put together really clicked with the way I think.
I'm on a bit of a retro binge at the moment and have recently bought plenty of games for various systems. So I'll be on Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 and Cybermorph on the Atari Jaguar first, then to follow I'll be delving deep into the Sega Saturn's fantastic library
Given that its Christmas soon I'm also thinking of getting into the spirit with Die Hard 2 from Die Hard Trilogy, some Batman Returns on SNES and Christmas Nights Into Dreams on the Saturn
Still on Uncharted Legacy, lovely graphics and design from ND as usual. Y'know one thing about GoW I felt could've been more realistic is the signs on the climbable ledges, like how does anyone know Kratos would be climbing that part and leave large somewhat overly-designed yellow markers to indicate "hey climb here!" Uncharted does this well with a more nuanced abrasion on ledges which looks more realistic.
Then it's Tomb Raider, GTAV, RDRII and anything else.
I've decided to take a break from Night City. I'm hanging out in the Badlands for a bit doing work for the fixer out here.
@TheArt did you finish God of War? because it actually explains why they are marked
After almost a foot of snow here and a cold weekend i'll be playing these few games and staying inside
AC Valhalla for me, starting to really enjoy it now, story starting to get good, will also be playing a bit of shakedown Hawaii, really enjoying it only played a few hrs but it's brilliant so far.
Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and the masterpiece, throwback that is the underrated Dust: An Elysian Tail on Switch.

Finishing off Spider-Man Miles trophies and a bit of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on PS5, and maybe a bit of PC engine mini for my retro gaming fix
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - Near the final mission now.
Flowerz (Windows Phone) - Also about to wrap this one up as well.
Cut the Rope: Experiments (Windows Phone) - About halfway on this one, I keep going back and trying for three stars.
I am plugging away at Dark Souls 2, aiming to wrap it up this weekend (today??) - if so that’ll be Demon Souls and Dark Souls 2 polished off in 4 weeks which isn’t bad going for me!
I got a voucher which I’ve transferred into PS store credit so I’m going to get Dirt 5 and Dark Souls 3 with that.
Also thinking I should restart FF7 Remake and finish it this time.
Anyone else’s Dual Sense getting a bit grimy already? 😂
Plodding through the backlog:
Uncharted 3 - crushing run
Hotshot Racing - attempting to win expert GPs with all racers
Enter the Gungeon - because I love punishment - hoping for RNG goodness super run
Maybe continue Shadow of War or start Just Cause 4 when friends turn up
Tales of Berseria - if I can find the time/motivation
..and should probably get around to God of War or HZD during the holidays. Though also tempted to have a look at Hollow Knight...
...Damn, wish I had a clone!
I will be playing Dragon Quest VIII on 3DS and some AC Valhalla but I'm feeling a bit tired from it I must say so maybe I will put it to the side for some time.
I'm reading the Witcher books which got me in the mood for some Witcher 2 so maybe I will hook up the ol' 360 this weekend.
Still playing sekiro absolutely loving it even though O’Rin of the water destroyed me for about half an hour 😬
Finishing up Ratchet & Clank on PS Plus, great game. Catching up on The Mandalorian and Xmas films too. Have a good one folks!
@playstation1995 Erm, AFC North you mean.
😜
@Ryall I take it you’re really enjoying The Pathless? I’ve been considering grabbing it, but I haven’t really decided.
I finish the main story of assasins creed origins and start the dlc content. I m also playing ni no kuni 2 with my kid.
@TheArt Faye specially designed them for her family 😉
Working on plat for demon’s souls. Also probably start Miles Morales.
Finished Valhalla and just mopping up some annoying trophies, got frustrated with one of them and I am now playing Stardew Valley for some light relief. Going back to Yakuza 0 tomorrow as I finally have some spare time and then hoping the next 3 days go quickly so I can finish for Christmas. 😊
Warzone and pga2k21 for me peeps..
Still going to be plugging away at Cyberpunk 2077 on PC. Maybe some Animal Crossing here and there. Also, a few Smash matches so I can further tinker around with Sephiroth.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider dlc challenge tombs. Passing them on time attack is tough but getting medals on score attack is gonna be even harder. Then I may start the hardest difficulty.
I am playing Sackboy A Big Adventure and Spiderman Remastered
It seems i'm the only one here who's playing WD Legions..😂😂 I know it considered as a bad game. I've started yesterday and it looks soo amazing and realistic on PS5! Ray tracing just blown me away. Just wondering around London also game seems enjoyable too so far. Will see how bad it is actually..😊
I've made my request of refund for digital copy of cyberprank 2020. But nothing happens.
Apparently, there's a lot of them to process for Sony.
And so I sit here frustrated.
I'd like to play either Persona 5 royal, or Dragon quest XI S.
I don't know.
I'm being too angry at CDPR and still don't understand how they could fail so hard. It's unbelieveable.
I seem to be the only one these days but playing Cyberpunk on base PS4 and loving it. Been lucky that had no issues since the last patch and the one that dropped today has made it so much better. It's a fantastic game in spite of its terrible launch.
Also playing Dirt 5 and WoW Shadowlands if time allows.
Have a great weekend guys ♥️♥️
Far Cry 4, after a couple of weeks of enjoying everything the sandbox had to offer, I finally starter seriously progressing its campaign 🙂
Persona 3 is complete and now I'm blasting my way through Demon's Souls. I've put rather a lot of time in over the last week beating 2-2, 2-3, 3-2, 3-3, 4-1 and 5-1. I've also specced out the route to the boss of 1-3 and made limited progress in 4-2 and 5-2. As far as I know, the end is in sight beyond those areas.
hadn't played my PS5 all week until last night, Have been watching The Queen's Gambit which was excellent and catching up on some reading. Did finally take down the armor spider last night in Demon's Souls so will continue on and see what kills me this weekend. Have a good one folks!
@kyleforrester87 I use dettol wipes and then dry it off with another cloth every so often but as we are in the habit of constantly washing hands these days it isn't that bad!
Cyberpunk 2077
A bit more Hollow Knight, and I might fire up Steep for some winter wonderland action.
Merry Christmas son
@Col_McCafferty. Haha.you right.i was writing fast.whats good playa.hows everything in your area.word up son
I'll continue with my playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy on Switch. Also, I'll be getting further in Persona 5 Royal on PS4 when my nephew, and hopefully will try out the new Bravely Default II demo that released recently. And, with any luck, I'll have the opportunity to play a round or two of Smash Ultimate with a friend.
Doom eternal..amazing game and bug-free..kudos to Bethesda.
@playstation1995 Yeah although they would probably win that division as well.
😁
Tier 3 in my area unfortunately, a right ***** show of a year gotta try and stay positive. Spurs v Leicester tomorrow, tough game but need to bounce back after last minute heartbreak on Weds.
Hoping to get either or both Final Fantasy VII and Ghost of Tsushima for Christmas, Jedi and Hollow Knight will have to do until then. Word up son.
👍
Playing Valhalla on Ps5. I’m starting to enjoy the game more now, Last week I was saying that the hook hasn’t got me yet, but now it slowly has. For me the game opened up better after acquiring more special move abilities. Still not feeling the story yet tho, but as it stands it’s very enjoyable. Stunningly beautiful on Ps5.
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk I poisoned her, she was hard work.
I bought a Super Retrocade, so been playing Midnight Resistance. On PS4 maybe some more Dirt 5 or Watch Dogs: Legion, not the best game, but interesting to see virtual London.
@mcdreamer NG+ is where the real fun begins.
@Odium Yep I’m really enjoying it. If you appreciate a well put together a puzzle it is certainly worth getting.
@Col_McCafferty It is such a shame-Jedi Fallen Order is a good game. But when I think back on it, my frustration with Dathomir level design is the main thing I remember from the game.
@L3GTRIGA I see, must have missed that bit @carlos82 twice. And missed it twice. I like how they have an explanation for all their design choices though, clever. So the giant's beard with the red exploding crystals, was that Faye's doing too? I mean they make those 2 dwarves spawn everywhere with the excuse of them having incredible spawning skills. But Brok, how'd you know I'm just jollying around exploring caves and you're here already? 😆😆
Nearly done with my first playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. After that I'll probably do a second playthrough and experiment with other weapons and perks. Might go melee this time and see how that goes.
Bayonetta 2, having lots of fun with it so far. Also want to go back to Yakuza 0. There's just a bit more of the cabaret club minigame left, then that's me done with Yakuza 0. Also hunting some deviant monsters in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, and maybe even a little bit of Cyberpunk 2077.
@Ryall good to know, thanks!
@Westernwolf4 I like how different it is from all the other planets but it doesn't exactly encourage further exploration as it's 1) hard and 2) tricky to navigate.
Just had my first crash on Dathomir, even my PS4 is like "nope!"
At the moment I'm going through the Spider-Man DLC's using the PS5 Remastered edition, which have been decent enough so far. Already finished the story for the first two, and 100% completed the first, so I'll probably finish the lot off either tomorrow or next weekend.
I'm at Chapter 4 of Yakuza 7. I love the humor and Ichiban's love for Dragon Quest makes me smile.
Final Fantasy 7 was on sale on the Switch so I got it. I guess after playing all of these Phantasy Star games and with all the recent Smash Bros news with FF I decided to finally try it out. Probably play Dragon’s Dogma too.
Playing Cyberpunk. I was really struggling with it, but after some research and helpful tips from other gamers I changed a lot of the settings and focused my build a lot more than I had been. Combat and exploration are so much better now, and last night was the first time after a few tries that I really had fun with the game.
15 hours in on the PS5 and I have been lucky not to experience a lot of the technical problems that Robert and others describe (fingers crossed) Lots of visual bugs (people floating, getting stuck in things etc.) but no crashes or quest breaking bugs. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It shouldn't be this much work to enjoy the game, but it does seem like there is an adventure worth playing here. It is just a shame that it takes so much for it to shine through.
@Col_McCafferty That is exactly how I felt too. It seemed like there was some fun stuff to explore there, but it was such a pain I eventually just sighed with exasperation and gave up. Too bad.
At least you have a wise PS4 that values your time!
New game + Spider-Man Miles Morales to get another shiny platinum trophy and some NBA2K21 and MK11 Ultimate on the PS5 with the misses. Finally, after 15 years, I got my lovely wife to play video games . It's the graphic fidelity of the new generation of consoles that pulled her over. Hurrah!
@TheArt You missed a huge piece of lore my friend, Faye left her mark throughout the world for them to follow, realism shouldn't really be a consideration
The only two games I've been playing for the last couple of weeks..Assassins creed Valhalla which I'm 50 hours into and not even uncovered half the map yet..Absolutely loving it..although Odyssey and Origins are probably better.
The other game I'm playing is Sakura Wars...Absolutely HOOKED on this brilliant rpg!Just started chapter 6 so very near the end unfortunately.
I am currently only a few hours away from Ghost of Tsushima's Platinum Trophy!
I’m about 10 hours into Assassin’s Creed Origins now, really enjoying it although I actually do miss the old style quite a bit, especially a run button! I’ve also been playing the original Medal of Honor on PSX and Code Vein on PC.
I'm having a full on Genshin Impact weekend, very close to hitting rank 50 before the new content drop in a few days. Also started a new account because of the ridiculous region lock, just so I can play with my overseas friends. Have a good weekend all, happy gaming!
Astro and spider-man remastered for me... What a beautiful end to a shocking year.
Persona 5, about to send calling card for the third palace.
1. Cyberpunk 2077 (PC)
2. AC: Valhalla
Just got to the “faraway land” in Valhalla. And had no idea! This game is so amazing.
Just finished still life and now starting still life 2 and maybe on the ps5 some cold war zombies.
I've been streaming FFXIV over on Twitch (the_grumblr) as an experiment to see just how long it takes to get caught up for a fresh player. My super tiny audience voted on race (Lalafell) and how much I take advantage of stuff like preferred servers and gear for XP gains.
It's been fun revisiting the early game considering that my main character was reborn with the realm at the launch of 2.0
Mixing it up with sleeping dogs definitive edition, FFVII remake, and FFXV for the umteenth playthrough. I kno FFXVs got issues, but it's what reinvigorated my love for video games, so I'm always thinking about another playthrough. Hoping to the powers that be I am able to find a ps5 so I can get the royal upgrade as part of the plus collection.
@wiiware I'm definitely positive vibes about Anno Mutationem. It's awesome when people are playing good non-AAA games.
Got back to God of War. Really loving it so far. Atreus is a bit of a brat at times though. 😂
Then Guardians of the Galaxy in the alternate times when I don’t feel like hacking, dodging, and parrying.
Putting down Skyrim for a bit to work on getting the ToCS plats again. Hopefully I'll have these done by the time we can go outside unmasked again.
Still working through Ghost of Tsushima. The game told me I started a "long tale", so it looks like things are gonna amp up. Aside from that, I started Yakuza 4 this past week, and I still have Breath of the Wild as well as Rayman Legends on Switch.
Have been stuck in quarantine for the last week with just my Switch and I've been hooked on Paper Mario The Origami King. Had no idea I would enjoy this so much. Also finishing up Link's Awakening. Finally be able to get back to the living room where the other systems are I'll be picking back up with Cyberpunk, Yakuza Like a Dragon and Valhalla once again
100% Cyberpunk I didn't get my physical copy till the 17th due to delays in shipping.
The best souls game, Dark Souls 2 - Scholar of the First Sin, of course.
Demons Souls, I need to defeat the Flamelurker, then I'll play Detroit Become Human and FFVII Remake
Finished Demon’s Souls with magic build. Now have started a third character specifically to grab the Mausoleum Key items after character one glitched and didn’t get the key. Also playing Ni No Kuni for the first time, and WOW what a great game. Major nostalgia value for old-school RPGs.
After that, Miles Morales.
Still debating whether to open my copy of Cyberpunk...
Assassin's Creed Valhalla on PS5 like every week...
Crash 4 on PS4
Dark Souls on Switch
Hi there fellow gamers.
This weekend it will be the following:
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming weekend to us all
@Westernwolf4 @Col_McCafferty Hi there friends.
Dathomir is sort of an end game planet. Altough we can go there and explore and it is also worth it, since there is "combat upgrade" you can find before you reach a point you can only advance when you make enough progress in the game.
But yeah, not a very pleasant place to spend some quality time, that´s for sure 😜
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
@Col_McCafferty Oh and as for Hollow Knight, the game does open up and gives the players some options on were to go.
You can reach certain areas in different ways.
But it can be a little overwhelming sometimes.
There´s even secret areas you might find, or not.
But keep on keeping on. It is so worth it on every aspect of the game.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
1. Dance Dance Revolution MAX 2 PS2 USA
2. Dance Dance Revolution Konamix PS2
3. Sly Cooper Collection PS3
4. Animal Crossing New Horizons.
@Ear_wiG Hi there friend. Ni No Kuni is a brilliant old school rpg game.
Not only is a beauty to see and play, but also as a very engaging story.
It is heartwarming but also kinda heart wrenching at times.
just like most good stories are. Enjoy it to the fullest.
Oh and try to do all, or most of the sidequests. some of the best small story beats are from them.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
@carlos82
If it's your first time playing Metal Gear Solid then enjoy buddy. One of my all time favorites.
@PegasusActual93 weirdly it will be my first time playing it, its one of those games where you look back and wonder how you missed playing it first time round. I've played pretty much every sequel but yeah I'm excited to play this one
It's a little janky compared to the sequels control wise, and there isn't a first person mode like in the sequels which isn't ideal but it had the best plot of the whole series I think.
@RaZieLDaNtE Definitely brilliant, and I love the art style. And Mr. Drippy is my new BFF. Just got the first companion (already forgot her name 🤦🏻♂️) so relearning my combat tactics here... Did you find you needed to grind a lot to progress? Anyways, loving it so far, and trying to dig in to all the side content and earn muh stamps. Main story is fun and engaging so far, good mix of cute/dark. Heart warming/wrenching, as you say.
Still debating if I want to start Cyberpunk on PS5 or just wait; there’s so much to play...
Enjoy the weekend!
Just finished Spider-Man(PS4 game) on my PS5 What an AMAZING game it was Now going to play Sackboy(PS5 version) over Christmas
Only two members of staff? Feel the H4 headings don’t warrant the announcement, if so. Less than three people, it’s ok to just ask the question, with no writer input. More than two makes it ok. If this has ever been done with one person, you need to figure out a template for that. Love from, a managing editor.
@Col_McCafferty hollow knight is definitely lovely but definitely not little(i do understand that what you said is just a saying). Its actually a huge game. My playthrough was over 60 hours i think.
As for what im playing control and death stranding. Maybe a little salt and sanctuary, which is getting very challenging. Really hate the place that reminded me of blighttown, except more irritating.
NBA 2k21 ps5, and finishing demons souls and starting cyberpunk
I'm still playing thru Persona 5 Royal, going after the treasure in Palace #2.
AC Valhalla, Far Cry 2, Tropico 3, The Crew and GTA Online
Dipped back into playing Death Stranding. Wanting to persevere with it as I've heard it has a great story.
Also continuing with the Demon Souls Remake
@ellsworth004 yeah, I was referring more to the budget and the art style. Of course there's a lot of hours in this game but that's due to regularly dying and no convenient respawn points. It's length is kind of artificial really.
Ghost of Tsushima, although it does feel like a grind.
I'm on a bit of downtime from the PS4 in the run-up to Xmas. Just jumping on every now and again to chip away at career mode on FIFA 20. I probably won't get on with anything seriously until the new year now.
Merry Christmas everyone!!
There seems to be theme. Blizzard Mountain DLC for Forza Horizon 3. SSX 2012. Christmas Nights.
Contemplating finally finishing Death Stranding. Finishing P5R and grinding a little bit more in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
A mixture of Rachet and Clank, and playing Borderlands 3 with some mates. The former is the better game IMHO, but given I'm in Tier 4 over Christmas it's nice to get to hang out at least virtually with someone other than my wife and cats
More Cyberpunk for me. I'm having pretty good luck with the new patch so far. Been getting in long play sessions with no crashes. Everything visual seems to look a little better, too. Still has a lot more patching to be done, but inch by inch it's getting better.
Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, or whatever else you celebrate this time of year.
I'm having a city to burn!
And enjoying it! On a PS4 slim no less...
DOOM ETERNAL on Switch, MILES MORALES on PS5.
@Ear_wiG I'm playing Ni No Kuni for the first time just now as well! Something told me it would be a great choice to play at Christmas and I wasn't wrong. What a charming, beautiful little game.
Prior to that I had my annual one-session playthrough of Journey, which has become a bit of a Christmas tradition for me, and also did a playthrough of Puppeteer, which is about as close as you'll ever get to playing through your own pantomime.
Demon´s Souls remake is taking most of my gametime right now but I'll have to make some room for Sekiro and BloodborNe: Old Hunters as soon as I sync my saves to the cloud and download them on the PS5.
I was thinking about getting Control Ultimate Edition but I'll wait for the proper PS5 physical release now that it's been confirmed for March 2021.
PS. Deathloop on May!
@Ear_wiG - There isn't much grinding in NNK if you just want to see it through to the end. However, if you want the platinum then the grind can be horrific if the RNG is against you.
One notorious side quest in particular can have you grinding for materials that may well take anywhere between 20 to 60 hours.
I love the game but after 30 hours of grinding on that quest and only getting half the materials I needed, I just gave up and deleted it. The RNG in that game has zero respect for your time. YMMV of course.
@Shigurui Good to know, thanks. I don't typically platinum games, so as long as I can see the story through w/o too much grind, then I'm solid. Cheers!
@TimeDelayedGamer Yep very cheerful, relaxing game to play, especially after Demon's Souls!
@Ear_wiG Hi there friend. Sorry for the late response.
Just like Shigurui said, not much of a grind, unless you go for the platinum trophy.
Other than that, it is a very charming and colorful game.
And much less menacing than Demon´s Souls.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
