The next instalment in the long running Ys series continues to intrigue with a brand new story trailer. This one's fully dubbed, and it comes complete with a heavy rock backing track.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (to give the game its full title) is still set to release for PS4 on the 2nd February 2021. Are you looking forward to this action RPG? Gather your allies and slash your way into the comments section below.

Ooh, February gives me hopefully enough time to beat Ark of Napishtim, Ys Seven and Lacrimosa of Dana. Shame this one isn’t on Vita though, I’ve played every other entry so far on it!
Hope there is a Japanese language option because that's some of the most dead voice acting I heard in recent years.
The PS3 wants its textures back.
Ys IX, Persona 5 Strikers, and Bravely Default 2 all release in February. Then Monster Hunter in March.
Choices are going to have to be made. Ugh.
@nessisonett Dunno about the others, but Lacrimosa is a 50+ hour epic. Better get on it!
If Ys VIII is anything to go by, this is going to be fun and have a great story.
Enjoyed Ys 8, so will definitely pick this one up.
@Ralizah 50 hours??? All the other ones I’ve played have been 20 at the most!
@nessisonett Yeah, it's a tremendously longer game than previous ones. If you want to do everything and get the true ending, then you're probably looking at 70+ hours (my playthrough was 75 hours, and I didn't even complete the final post-game dungeon).
@Ralizah
@badbob001 "The PS3 wants its textures back."
That was my first thought too.
My second was - in a game like this it hardly matters.
(But it is a nice bonus)
Ys IX and Persona 5 Strikers on the same month, damn I better start saving
@Ralizah @nessisonett Yeah, its a long one. And i played on Vita without some of the bonus content available on PS4 Its amazing and every hour was well spent. Apart from a small section in a cave where its pitch black and i couldn't see anything. Which annoyed me.
The music, as ever, is outstanding. Sunshine Coastline 👌
@badbob001 this game series is not known for its graphic fidelity. They are just raw fun JRPG developed by a small team. They tend to not try hide the fact that they are made on a budget.
@Tharsman Jesus Christ, I listened to it after I saw your comment and it's hard to believe they're actually professionals. It's not much better than the voice acting in the original Warcraft and that was just random guys from Blizzard, not professionals.

@Tharsman Looked at some reviews and some say that the performance of the game is worse than the previous version. So maybe they need to update their engine at least. Or we can all get a PS5 to run it on.
