Sony's working on new technology that brings virtual stages into the home, allowing the biggest music artists to perform for fans from their living room. Revealed as part of the Japanese giant's CES 2021 digital event, popstar Madison Beer puts the tech to use with a performance of her latest single, titled Boysh*t. You can check the full show out through here, but it'll also be available through the PS Store as a PlayStation VR experience in the near future. It can also be downloaded by 2D viewers.
Beer said: "The process of putting this performance together is like nothing I’ve ever done before. I love creating visuals, so it was really exciting for me to get involved in the process and make something special for my fans. We’re all disappointed we can’t go out and experience these songs on tour together, so creating a performance like this one feels like a true gift."
Whilst we're all having to stay at home, can be the future of gigs and musical performance be sourced from a PSVR headset? There's only one way to find out. Share your thoughts on this in the comments below.

its probably my age, but who?
I'll forgive the Push Square community for not knowing who this one is. But just this once.
Nah, you're alright.
@LiamCroft I actually know her from League of Legends KDA pop band...and let me tell you, this woman drives me insane! I will never watch her VR show with fear of dying from heart attack...my God...
@Darten Absolutely not!
Does it give me a Platinum trophy?
So... like a cold brew from a pub on Maddison ave?
I had to read that headline a few times to make sense of it!
Yeah even I don't know who this one is.
Though my music knowledge these days is pretty much limited to whether they've been on SNL or not. 🤷♂️ Doesn't look like she has.
Thanks but I will pass 🙂. Even if it was someone I knew/liked don't think I would watch it. Some things you just can't enjoy in vr and I think a live concert falls into that category. I did watch a little of the world cup in vr and that was ok for about 20mins after that it was back to normal viewing lol.
This is the type of practical application that will eventually make VR a staple in most homes. Games will definitely benefit but won’t be the driving force of actually getting these things into people’s daily lives. Smart baby step by Sony.
You had me at beer.
Tupac hologram VR and I’m interested
Get some Deftones in there & I'll have a look!
Give me Us Cracks any day.
"allowing the biggest music artists"
"popstar Madison Beer"
Umm...?
@Darten Dual who?
Never heard of him...her.
3 Colours Red VR or we riot!
I haven't a clue who this person is but will definitely watch a VR show.
While they were all 2D, Oculus Venues had some excellent live shows for free last year. Concerts in VR could very well be part of the future. For me, anyway.
@Darten I keep hoping people will forget Dua Lipa and she'll have to take the Rita Ora route back to fame. That is, via nudity.
Zero idea who this person is, those knees though. Looks like that episode of Man Down. Horrific.
@suikoden I believe the name is Madison Beer lol
@Darten haha, yeah it is a bit.
