Hitman 3 has enjoyed the biggest digital launch in franchise history, which seems like a noteworthy achievement considering the inaugural entry in the World of Assassination trilogy adopted an episodic model. Of course, the game did launch on a larger roster of platforms this time around – including even Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia – and the industry is generally skewing more towards downloads during these pandemic times.
That means, ultimately, that retail sales are probably down compared to Hitman 2, so it’ll be interesting to see how well the release has performed overall. Take nothing away from developer IO Interactive, though: the title is excellent and, while the launch was a little wonky at first, it responded rapidly and got everything working fairly fast. Amazing game and luckily one that will keep me busy while we wait for the next big game. It’s going to be a slow year. Very thankful for games with replayability like this.
This is great news !! Totally deserved.
The last Hitman game I played was Hitman Go..awesome game.
Had it since release day and it’s only just let me transfer my hitman 2 data over on their website. So 2 days later I’m finally able to start it tonight.
It’s almost like releasing AAA game’s during this pandemic is a sure fire sales hit, even if the game is unfinished, under delivers, or just plain sucks.
I’m not able to play it at the moment. The profile import has made my game unable to sign in to the server. Lots of other users are having the same issue. We could play offline but nothing saves so stuck with a game I can’t play right now.

So, does that Hitman 2 had an overall bigger launch? The wording is strange. Either way, I’m loving it so far. Haven’t even made it past Hitman 1 levels, but exploring that Japanese resort in VR? I forgot about killing anyone for an hour. I look forward to trying out the PS5 version, but it’s hard to pull myself away from the PSVR version of it.
@2cents
Are you implying this game sucks? Because its fantastic just like the previous 2
I'm enjoying 3 a lot but there's not much in this game that strikes me as enhanced for the PS5/XBXS1. The ray tracing is nice and i do appreciate the 4K and solid frame rate but there's certain moments in the game where you question how much time they put in to next gen releases as stages can look sub-par. The quality of the cut scenes are really poor especially.
The England level is superb!
