Want to work for Naughty Dog? Join the queue because we have to imagine the developer will be inundated with CVs for the open positions it has to offer as part of its next big project. Shared by the team's official Twitter account and then retweeted by Neil Druckmann, lots of different production sectors are hiring staff, including animation, art, UI, QA, and programming. Those lucky enough to be chosen will get to work on "something very cool", as co-president Druckmann put it overnight.
And this is where the speculation begins for fans, of course. After putting out The Last of Us: Part II last year, it feels like Naughty Dog could take a number of different development routes. A third entry in the series is always an immediate option, but maybe the team wants to take a break from the adventures of Ellie and Abby for now. On the opposite end of the spectrum, maybe a new IP could be in the works. Is now finally the time to see Savage Starlight turned into a real sci-fi RPG? We can only hope. No matter what it is, however, it's sure to be one seriously exciting PlayStation 5 project.

I dont think its TLOU3. I think ND will be ready to work on something new. Last gen was the first where they didn't launch a new ip so i think its time
I really want to see a new IP from Naughty Dog.
Druckmann says "Us" in his tweet! TLOU3 confirmed!
In all seriousness I'd love for them to break away to a new IP and a cheerful new IP too.
We need some happiness in this current world right now!
ND are teaming up with Konami to make the greatest version of Pro Evo ever imagined.
I'd love to see them go Science Fiction. Could use more games in that genre, and if Naughty Dog were to tackle it, you know it would be worth the price of admission.
Because it's a fun game to play I've latched on to them wanting a melee animator specifically!
What genre requires melee animators? FANTASY!
I'd actually love to see what modern ND would do with a good old sword n sorcery setting!
I'd like to see a new IP first then TLoU3.
TLoU3 could start with Ellie waking up in the shower and TLoU2 was just a dream (or a nightmare) 🤣
I’m totally joking before people start loosing their minds in the comments - only 8 comments in... etc etc 👀
I also hope they do something a little lighter or more fun for their next game. Their last few games have been pretty heavy - which isn’t a bad thing but I would like to see them mix it up a bit.
Science fiction. Do it, Neil.
@LordSteev this x100
Waiting for that Gaming guy to comment.
Something totally different with a new IP is what I'm hoping for. As good as The Last of Us Part II and the Uncharted series (except for 3) have been, something entirely new would be great. Science fiction would work for me.
New science fiction IP I think
I really want them to make Savage Starlight into a game.
Cool new IP with some interest already garnered.
I’d like to see something set in TLOU universe but not a continuation of Ellie’s story.
What I’m really holding out for is Factions 2. Man I want that so much
Go for a fun-loving IP as in your glory days, Naughty Dog, don't crunch, and you might get a former fan back.
Is time for a new IP! let other Sony studios handle Uncharted, TLOU.
I just want a proper next-gen patch for TLoU2, so I can do my second play through for the platinum, in the highest fidelity possible!
Savage Starlight is a good name for a game to be fair and after a quick check on the wiki, looks like it could be cool as bananas!
Anything other than Jak & Daxter. Jak II is quite literally one of the worst sequels I’ve played in all my years of gaming.
Hopefully a new IP but, they really need to get on with relasing fractions and the DC 'Tommy's story' something akin to Left Behind, please, pretty please
@Jacko11 honestly, I wanna see Naughty Dog put out Savage Starlight comics!
I'm so excited to see what next Naughty Dog is working on. For now, I'm holding my breath for Factions Part II, which they said they'll make. And whatever they make for PS5... I'm already on board. Long time fan of Naughty Dog, they've never disappointed me.
Whatever this game ends up being, will be the reason I purchase a PS5.
The last of us 2 remastered.
All aside I wonder what their next game could be.
I adore the last of us part 2, but REALLY don't feel the need for a third one ever. I have faith Naughty Dog will do it justice if they ever did, but at the moment I'd really like to see them launch a new IP
Of course it's a hiring spree. Having recently finished a game and burnt out their staff a significant amount will have left the company so they need to "replenish their stock"
ND make good games but their company management is a joke. Been insider knowledge for years now that they don't treat their staff all that well
Whatever it will be, it'll be amazing. Maybe I can get my long held wish of Impossible Mission 3...
@Sam-Bridges I think the ship has sailed for them making comics. They should have been done a few years ago if they was every going to be made. Which is a shame as the American Dreams prequel comics where great.
But yeah, anything Naughty Dog does i’m on board for. Can’t wait for Factions 😁
Would definitely want to see a new IP. I think it's time to let The last of us franchise take a rest and focus on something new.
I'll echo what others have said. Yes we need a new IP from them now.
@Hyperluminal oh man, could you imagine? Absolute scenes! 😂
Lots of hope on here for a sci-fi game but I'm not so sure that's the direction they will go in.
Maybe there were hints in the theatre in Part II, thinking of the discarded set behind the curtain. Those pieces had an art deco feel to them plus there was art of the old New York skyline.
I mentioned this back in the summer amid hopes their next game could be a detective noir set maybe during the 40's or 50's. I'd definitely be up for that.
I'm guessing the next uncharted and tlou 2 expansion.
Fingers crossed for turn based battles
I hope it's a new ip, I don't want another tlou and I don't think this current ND is the right studio for uncharted games.
@wiiware - personally i don't think uncharted will work with any other studio. i'd rather it was just retired gracefully to be honest.
i don't think it'll be TLoU3 either.. there's 7 years between 1 and 2, it took them long enough to decide the direction they wanted to go with part 2.. i very much doubt a part 3 would even be in pre-production at this point. UC4 is almost 5 years ago, and UC:LL is 3.5 years ago.. so i think the core uncharted team has been working on something else, and now TLoU2 has wrapped up more tech resources will move over to whatever they've been working on.
Cannot wait for new games from ND.
Absolutely Love Uncharted and The last of us series, keep them coming <3
It's definitely gonna be TLOU3. It will be about the big seraphite woman's son taking vengeance for his mum's death, and he'll beat Abby to death with a gold club in the the first 30 minutes.
@Mintie
All of their games from the last almost 15 years have had melee animations. Sorry fam this doesnt tell us anything
Hi there fellow gamers.
Just like everyone else is saying in the coments, it would be pretty sweet for Naughty Dog to make a sci-fi related game, since I love that setting a lot.
It could be that I just want more Mass Effect type games, wich it is so, in all honesty. Love that series way to much.
But it would also be cool to see them going for a fantasy type setting, maybe a medieval rpg, open world type game or something.
The Last of Us part 3 will happen eventually.
Uncharted, it´s probably Sony San Diego studio who are working on it, I´m guessing.
But they are an incredible talented studio and whatever setting they decide to do, I´m all in.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
I guess they’re trying to recover all the people they lost after the fun ride that was TLoU 2
Its laughable that people would even consider a new TLoU game just yet when they have just released the latest one. My predictions would be Factions 2.0, a new IP (hopefully) or maybe a new Uncharted (hopefully not).
Whatever it is, I fully believe it's going to be very cool
Factions. I’m not a big multiplayer guy but I really enjoyed the first iteration and there is huge potential there for something pretty special if they really run with it.
Naughty Dog are one of the few developers who can tell fantastic stories with excellent gameplay, so my dream would be for them to make a Fantasy game.
@Jacko11 I remember Neil Druckmann once addressed the "The Last of Us: American Daughter" poster that we found in Uncharted 4. If I remember right, he said they're still not sure what that'll be. I'm really hoping at least that one's a comic book. And given that there is a "The Last of Us: American Dream" comic, it's not that far fetched.
Fingers crossed, anyway.
@PegasusActual93 you're a bit ***** at playing this game.
Hiring dedicated melee animators obviously means a focus on hand held murder tools... swords, spears, clubs, little pokey breadknives! Just imagine (if you can) ND's tech turned towards a full on fantasy adventure!
Savage Starlight!
I'm hoping for a sci-fi time travelling thriller adventure. Unchartered through time. Get Christopher Nolan on board and score by Hans Zimmer and bam best game ever guaranteed...
The only project I desire from TLoU universe is Factions, otherwise, treat it like Joel and move on.
Nothing to see here. Just replacing all the employees who succumbed under the pressure of the everlasting crunch
@Col_McCafferty ND cinematic universe with those sci-fi cards from TLOU 2 lol
Would be kinda neat.
@leucocyte Nah, after tlou 2 I don't trust nd with game story anymore, it seems all the talented writer (ami hennig & bruce straley) have left and the one they got now is kind of a hack.
I rather have another sony studio making uncharted games, maybe making it open world since we already have 5 linear uncharted. Let nd make a new ip.
I bet US$500 that it is a LINEAR (on rails) CINEMATIC Third person Action Adventure with Shooting and crafting. Any takers?
Among all these speculations as what their next game will be (if it is going to be a new IP), I'd like to add the possibility of them making a WW2 game.
Halley Gross (lead narrative designer and co-writer of Part II) has been posting stacks of books on Instagram. Among them, there's a ton of WW2 research material, and specifically on the topic of women during the war. I may be reading too much into it, but I wouldn't mind them making an urban fantasy set during the second world war.
@Sam-Bridges I like this. Anything on instagram to suggest her research is connected to Naughty Dog?
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L I'm not sure if it is intentional or not, but it seems to me Naughty Dog (Neil Druckmann mostly) has been touching on pressing and controversial matters. (Nadine Ross, the entirety of The Last of Us Part II, etc. etc.) Feels to me, whatever they do... someone's gonna get mad anyway. lol.
@Jimmer-jammer Nothing really suggests it is related to Naughty Dog. It's all speculations on my part, being a Hideo Kojima fan you can never be sure where to look for clues if there are any at all. In the end, her reading material might be out of pure self-interest. (Which, as an aspiring writer I find hard to believe, but still)
A turn-based tactical politician simulator with Move-supported dance/rythym mini-games.
Or else they're rehiring for temporary jobs and those who quit after TLOU2.
Whatever Sony's best studio does, it'll be worth the wait. ♥
@fR_eeBritney No problem with Ellie in the shower though.
Naughty Dog’s next game will not be The Last of Us 3. I’d be willing to bet that franchise gets some time off with the exception of the Factions Multiplayer.
This seems like a good time for new IP.
@wiiware - i disagree, the story of TLoU2 is much better than any of the uncharted's. i don't like it is as much as the first game, but it's nothing to do with it being "controversial", nor are any of the characters as likeable as drake and sully - but then they're not meant to be. the one uncharted game so far not done by naughty dog lacks something imo, and the one that doesn't feature drake is redundant, so i don't have high hopes for it. the uncharted movie will probably be colossally bad. i'm pretty sure they will move on, and whatever it is will probably not have as heavy and dark tone as the last of us.
also, get your facts straight. bruce straley did not write any of the games, he was the game director. three of the 4 main uncharted games had josh scherr and druckmann as co-writers. the only one written by amy hennig alone was part 3 which is the weakest of the 4. josh scherr is still at ND, and wasn't directly involved in TLoU2. he must have been working on something since UC:LL, right?.
@leucocyte Tlou 1 has better story than uncharted 1-4 but tlou 2 story is the worst story I experienced in my 25+ years of gaming. From the plot armor, insane decision that the characters make, and the game story that's forgetting it's still in zombie apocalypse settings. I don't like the game story, characters, and the setting is a joke now, I mean it's a joke the protag live in a farm with loud animals and baby in apocalypse settings with zombie that react to sound 😂
Brice didn't write tlou 1 story but he's overseeing it, he's the reason tlou 1 story is so good, do you know tlou 1 will ended with tess killing joel and ellie killing tess in neil version? It's bruce that said it's not realistic to have revenge story in dangerous zombie world. The story of tlou 1 is story molded by both neil and bruce, same with uncharted 4, tlou 2 story is all neil (with some help from westworld writer, she only write a couple of episode though).
Uncharted story is made by amy hennig, she also write the story for soul reaver if I remember correctly.
After TLOU2, I'll pass
A new IP would be my first pick. They haven't made one since The Last of Us way back in 2013, and with all their existing IP's fairly long on the tooth at this point, I feel a new series would be best going forward (well, that or a Star Wars title, either would be cool).
LoU3: Lev spends 25 hours fruitlessly seeking revenge on someone or other
Can't wait to see what they achieve with PS5
TLoU 2 didn't deserve GOTY and it makes me fear upcoming Naughty dog games because if no one called them out on the slog that was so much of tLoU2 I fear what that level of praise for such a thing will amount to
@wiiware Sure the setting is still in a zombie apocalypse, but it been like 24-25 years after the outbreak. At this point, the infected isn't that big of a threat anymore. People have learned and figured out how to go on and live their lives now.
"I mean it's a joke the protag live in a farm with loud animals and baby in apocalypse settings with zombie that react to sound"
Actually the protagonist isn't at any threat living on the farm. If you notice they live out on the countryside. The infection is fugal based, so the infection thrives in underground or enclosed areas commonly avoided by people, especially sewers, subway tunnels, and some buildings. So living in wide open air areas space, such as the countryside, won't see a high population of Infected.
Also given the fact that Jessie's parents was able to come and see J.J means that they living in close proximity to Jackson, so the area they live in is patrol daily, and on top of the fact that if you read the patrol logs. There doesn't seems to be any actual threat from the infected in that area... Maybe one or two stragglers that broke off from the hordes that migrate through the area
@Floki So why people in jackson and wlf didn't live in country side with farming instead of looting? The world is still dangerous place to live since we know jackson and wlf people still losing peope from patrol. Why everyone on jackson don't live in elly farm rather than city itself? Why send their kids and able people to die on patrol? Why every bandit in town didn't hijack elly farm since it's super safe? What happens in the horde go through ellie farm?
There so many question in this game, the first game didn't have this. One or two question is okay since it's fiction afterall but when people ask so many question people started to notice the inconsistency of the world.
potential StarWars x NaughtyDog collaboration? I mean if Indiana Jones is being worked on elsewhere what would stop Disney at least asking Sony if they would be interested in working on a Star Wars title?
Has been mentioned that Disney/Lucasfilm have more announcements to make
@Mintie
Most of their games have had melee animations with hand held weapons including bats, shivs, machetes and others. No need for the language.
@leucocyte... You are correct.... Uncharted to Naughty Dog is like Final Fantasy to Square Soft/Enix or Resident Evil to Capcom, they are the only onesnwho can mess it up and they are the only one who can make it right, theses games feel weird and soul less when done by other studios except the mother studio.
@Sam-Bridges......... I must say out of the Uncharted series I have never been so moved by a polygon or virtual character as I am moved by the black lady character in Uncharted 4, I think here name is Nadine. That is one well crafted character. Graphically she is out of this would I would even go out and say she is the best rendered female character in gaming ever and I mean here everything the facial movements, the body movement, the voice capture and delivery, the emotion portrayal and the personality.
She kept busting Nates balls to the point I like it so bad, by the time I finished the game I wish Nate could ride of in the sunset with her.
Elena is great but Nadine is just pure Boss.
She deserves a stand alone game all by herself.......
