With its February launch finally creeping closer, Persona 5 Strikers is back with a rather short but sweet gameplay trailer. The action RPG really flaunts its style in this latest look, and the whole thing's held together by the game's rendition of Rivers in the Desert — the big boss theme from Persona 5. If that's not enough to ignite your soul of rebellion, we don't know what is.
We got a chance to take a look at Persona 5 Strikers last year, noting in our preview that it seems to be much more than a simple hack and slash spin-off.

Okay, but will they re-release it a year later at full price as “P5 Strikers Royal” or similar? Not that I’m super salty about their marketting strategy.
Honestly, I was forgetting about this game. However, that trailer quickly reminded me of how much I loved Persona 5. The upcoming Strikers looks like a lot of fun.
@Mega-Gazz The JP Version is alreads out for almost 1 year and didnt get any DLC so...no.
So excited. Playing P5 Royal again now in preparation
I don’t know if I should wait for the Royal edition or get it day one
@GKO900 @Mega-Gazz Nah, there's not gonna be any Royal-esque re-release of this game.
I want to avert my eyes from trailers so I can go into the game as blind as possible.
@LiamCroft Well everyone thought the same about Vanilla Persona 5 and then we got the Royal version, and with the current record of Atlus combined with Koei Tecmo musou games with heavy DLC I can totally see a Royal version coming next year, but only time will tell
@GKO900 The Royal version was expected. Just take a look at Persona 4 Golden on PS Vita — there was an expectation there.
This game is going to be amazing, I can't wait to hear about Persona 6 eventually. Hopefully they skip the Persona fighting game though.
@LiamCroft I think what everyone wanted was for Persona 4 Golden to be ported to PS4 since the Vita fail and Persona 3 Royal , not more content to an already huge game like Persona 5
@Mega-Gazz They wouldn't do that with spinoffs
Instead it's more likely that whatever major console Persona spinoff they do next will integrate more of Royal's content into its story like what happened with Marie being absent from P4A but showing up in P4AU and PQ
@GKO900 Honestly I'd take P4G on PC over PS4 at this point. Like yeah I'm surprised they did P4G on PC first but P5R likely started development before plans to support Steam were ever put in motion so it makes sense why Royal was given the PS4 treatment given their history with re-releases like P3 FES, P3P, P4G and Catherine Full Body
Plus I didn't necessarily see that much demand for P4G on PS4 after the fact until the Steam version was announced so there is that
Looking forward to this, but I still want a fighting game similar to what 4 got. And of course, Makoto is best girl.
Didn’t know whether to get this on Switch or PS4 Pro, but sheesh does the framerate look rough on Nintendo’s console. PS4 'tis then...
@Lando_ Switch version runs at half the framerate and has way worse loading times. Obviously the Steam version mitigates all of the aliasing and loading issues but in terms of consoles it's best played on PS4 Pro/PS5 easily
I might pick up the Switch version later to have it on the go for when I'm travelling but for now I'm preordering on PC
@Rob_230 Only difference is Strikers is based on the original P5 so it wont have the new character
@GKO900 Spin-offs don't get upgraded versions beyond just the base game in the series. Since P3 there has been an extended version with the Persona series so Golden, and Royal were expected.
@shonenjump86 I think the most recent is BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle but that only has P4 Arena characters. Hopefully Arc will make another featuring the P5 group
@pharos_haven But they’re not treating this like a spin-off and more like a sequel to P5
Have this preordered for my Switch. I've been playing Persona 5 Royal, so I'm invested in this universe again, and after skipping out on the latest Hyrule Warriors, I'm looking to a new game to take my musou virginity.
@GKO900 Like how Arena was also treated as a sequel to Persona 4 despite also having a completely different gameplay style that deviated hard from the traditional RPG gameplay of the main series in addition to being worked on by a developer that wasn't Atlus themselves?
They're still spinoffs in the sense that they deviate far enough from the gameplay of the numbered entries. They're narrative sequels but not sequels in terms of gameplay. The same is true for the Arena games, Dancing and Strikers
@GKO900 Persona 5 strikers isn't getting an enhanced version. The only ones that ever get one is the actual games not the spin offs.
Really hyped for this it's just a real shame we don't get the steelbook edition that the US are getting
May just buy the digital best rather than go for the physical.
I'm playing Ps5 royals now and man what a great game can't wait for this one
New trailer has me tempted to return to Persona 5 Royal, definitely.
