While the PlayStation 5 has launched around much of the world, Indian players have been forced to wait due to an intellectual property squatter which delayed the next-gen system’s launch in the nation. Sony has since wrangled back the trademark, and with new PS5 stock expected globally over the coming weeks, it’s confirmed that the console will launch in India on 2nd February.
Pre-orders will open at 12PM on 12th January at various retailers, including Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, and more. The platform holder thanked the patience of its “PlayStation enthusiasts”; let’s hope the pre-order process runs a little smoother for our friends in India after it turned out to be a bit of disaster in the rest of the world.

I wonder how much they'll get for trading in a Series X for the PS5.
Enjoy your 3 ps5s allocated to a country with over a billion people.
@Jayslow Doubt many have the founds for it anyway. Some Indian Redditors told me consoles are very expensive there because of customs
@IonMagus
Which customs? Arranged marriages?
@Hyperluminal You are probably smart enough to know what I mean with "customs" lol. You know, the fees you have to pay for importing stuff
Ooohhh... Customs 😆😉
The most hated guy in India at one point I imagine.
Ohh, preorders! Good luck with that.
Also, I need to check my ebay account, brb
So what was the trademark dispute? Did someone trademark PS5 in India? How did Sony get the trademark? Did they have to pay off the squatter? If I trademark PS6 now am I going to become rich when the next generation starts?
Glad for india gamers, I hope sony increase their ps5 stock so all gamers can get the console.
Also my local shop just called me, they say they got additional ps5 unit and although I didn't win the ps5 online raffle preorder, I can buy ps5 normally on launch day (22 january) 😃
@IonMagus yes too...expensive....here in India
$700-$800 USD.....
@thefourfoldroot People here used to circulate his number and Facebook profiles were filled with hatred for every person with same name.
@Milktastrophe no, Sony will just tell everyone who you are and where you live, so you'll get death threats from fans until you give it back to them lol.
@Total_Weirdo You're thinking of the wrong kind of Indians
