It looks like Resident Evil Village will take place in a forgotten village in Romania for the most part, as eagle-eyed series fanatics picked up on a couple of extra details from last night's showcase event put on by Capcom. Investigators have narrowed the location down to Romania thanks to the currency you'll use to purchase items from the merchant, known as Lei. That's the plural of Leu — the currency of Romania. As such, we can safely assume Ethan Winters will be scaling the unwelcoming paths and cliffs of the country.
The game doesn't start there, however. A few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Winters and his wife Mia have settled down in a new location and put their past behind them. It's when their baby is stolen, presumably by Chris Redfield and co, that Ethan must travel to the remote destination.

All good vampires come from Romania.
Perfect setting for snowy, vampire creepiness.
Very appropriate setting for a horror game.
@EricTheBrainless haha, I literally just got a notification a few mins ago, yesterday it went in about 5 min this took nearly 20mins haha. Hopefully I get another big win soon although I doubt it haha, if I do I will put another up sometime.
Perfect backdrop for the story I think.
Names ending with escu, like Dimitrescu is very common in our country. Also the setting, is it similar with how our countryside look alike, especially in Transilvania
CHRIS REDFIELD
BABY SNATCHER
Ethan & mia's baby is stolen ? I wonder if it has something to do with how Evie effected Mia & Ethan in 7 & somehow they're baby posseses some of Evie's powers or something
Romania makes a lot of sense. Great setting.
Nobody...?
What’re you buying?
The Merchant has certainly being enjoying all that money I gave him in RE4
@get2sammyb Hello. The video starts at a timecode at arount 5 minutes.
The game seems to have a great atmosphere, I might be tempted !
Actually it was the name of the tall woman, Lady Dimitrescu that first hinted me on the location that's gonna be used the game, before i even saw the video.
You won't find surnames ending in "escu" originating from any other country but Romania.
And this was added to the known fact that there are vampires in the game.
Seeing the currency in the video only dotted the i
We knew this since last year.
