God, last week was scary. Amid our holiday slumber, this author forgot what day of the week it was, and forgot about WAYP. Fortunately, Assistant Editor Liam Croft came in with the save. If he hadn’t, that would have broken a streak stretching all the way back to 2013. Thank heavens, eh?

I’m still playing Watch Dogs Legion, although I must admit its structure is beginning to wear on me now. I do like the game a lot, but it feels like it’s run out of ideas as I near its conclusion. Will definitely be finishing it and some of the side-missions this weekend, though.
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
I think I'm going to have a crack at Immortals Fenyx Rising this weekend. I nabbed it on sale but I haven't had a chance to take it for a spin. Some people say it's just another Ubisoft open worlder, while others reckon it's one of the most overlooked games of 2020. I'm looking forward to making my own mind up!
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
I'm currently half-way through Demon's Souls, and I'd love to take another chunk out of it this weekend. It's a stunning remake, and I've been having a great time with it so far. I'm taking it slow, but my strength-based knight is gradually becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Liam Croft, Assistant Editor
After all the excited chatter surrounding it, I'm playing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Two prologues in so far and it's interesting! I'll also make some time for Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with friends in amongst watching FA Cup matches.

While I initially took a break from Final Fantasy VII Remake over the holiday break, I think it is about time I return to Midgar. As with most RPGs I play, I’ve been slowly making my way through it these past few weeks, but as someone who never played the original, I’m really enjoying where the ride is taking me. If I have time, I’d also like to continue my playthrough of Resident Evil 2 (2019), as I’m trying to work through as much of the Resident Evil franchise as possible before Resident Evil Village arrives in the coming months.

While I'd love to say I'll be playing Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it breaks my PS5 every time I try and play it, so I've just been waiting since it launched to actually play. I guess that's kinda cool. I'll use the time I was gonna put into Miles Morales to finish up Star Wars: Squadrons I think, since I haven't actually finished it yet, and I really should.

I've been getting some Beat Saber and Pistol Whip sessions in as exercise during this lockdown, so I'll be loading those up again. Outside of that, I'm also planning to complete The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, having reached Chapter 6 on Wednesday. If all goes to plan, I'll be immediately starting the sequel, too.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
After claiming the Platinums on both The Last Campfire and Watch Dogs Legion earlier this week, I will be starting up Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I may also dive into a few indie titles on the side: Maneater and Carto.
What are you playing this weekend? What's been in your gaming rotation the most in 2021 so far? As always, let us know in the comments section below.

Tomb raider (2013) and digimon world next order on ps5 through backwards compatibility. Also immortals fenyx rising on ps5 itself.
EDIT: and maybe if I find some motivation I’ll play animal crossing on the switch.
Probably trying to finish up mini games at the end of my first Yakuza Kiwami playthrough. Which will involve teaching myself about a few Chinese games of chance and skill. Plus some Maneater and playing either Sackboy, degrees of separation or DbD with the wife, depending on what she feels like.
still the amazing persona 5. (base game).
51 hours in now,i'm addicted. i just love the social life stuff.
don't think i ever liked a main cast so much as i do with P5.
hoping strikers will be as good .
Started on the Spiderman remaster so will finish that before giving maneater a go.
More and more and more FARCRY5. I'm thinking of picking up New Dawn also or Metro Exodus but then dunno if I should just stop picking up these games and save up for PS5. But then again I feel like more actual next gen games are a ways off and want to hold on a bit. BTW I fixed my stick drift without opening nothing, just blow into the corners of the sticks. Now I regret opening up my first DS4 and ruining it.
Code Vein will be taking up most my gaming time this weekend alongside some Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled with my daughter.
Just made it past the Successor Of The Claw and I'm still really enjoying my time with CV. The City of Flames was a bit of a pain to get through, especially with me trying to get through the game with as low of a lvl as possible, though it has made all the bosses a good challenge too!
Though my copy of Yakuza 0 arrived yesterday (I've never played any of the Yakuza games) and after a brief go of it I'm really quite tempted in trying to juggle it and Code Vein... 😄
Have a good weekend everyone! Stay safe!
GoT arrived this week so have been making my way through that. Looks amazing but find it always takes me a while to get into open world games. Had a strong urge to replay RE3 remake but will probably do some more on Mario 3D All-stars and some of the DLC on BOTW
Crash Bandicoot 4. When it comes to Crash games I can take them or leave them - but I am enjoying this one so far.
I took one look at the trophy list and realised I’m never gonna get the Platinum (why make it so difficult???)... so I’m just playing the levels and enjoying it for what it is, without worrying about trophies. The boss level on the second island was great.
The Last Of Us Part 2 and Assassins Creed Valhalla will continue to hold my interest this weekend along with Sakuna Of Rice And Ruin on Switch.
To my surprise I am quite getting into one of this months PS+ games, Greedfall. The wheels could easily fall off soon but the fantasy pirate theme is pretty refreshing and some of the environments look great.
Continuing my second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 as a Nomad. All in all I've spent well over 200 hours in Night City and the Badlands, all on my original PS4. Anybody that says the game is unplayable on that system is a gonk!
Mostly Persona 4 Golden and more Final Fantasy VII Remake for me. I've been thinking about picking up Takyo Xanadu eX+ in the sale but I'm not really sure when I'd get to playing it. I've got ToCS to start before that really too on the Falcom side.
Still Cyberpunk...160 hours in, and willing to bet I can milk it for 300 total.
Ghost of Tsushima all the way, not interested in anything else.
It's been said before but how refreshing are the load times either starting a new game or respawning after dying.
Just one of many things that I find to be very impressive with this game.
FA cup and we have a big one against Marine. Should be interesting!
NFL Wildcard weekend, hoping Saints win and the Browns.
😝
Enjoy your weekend folks, stay warm and safe.
@TheArt Wait is that all you did? My controller developed the same fault a few weeks back and I ended up buying a new one.
Damn, could it be that simple?
Nioh 2 .second best games of 2020 and darkest dungeon.best indie games ever.and watching the best nfl franchise ever my Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland.nfl playoffs oh yeah.in my warriors movie classic voice.pittsburgh come out and playyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.word life.word is bond.word to your mother.word to god.word ☝ up son
@Col_McCafferty i can confirm that the trick does work.
not all the times tough,but it's always good to give it a blow before buying a new one.
I'm hoping I can catch up on my backlog. This weekend will be a marathon session of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Red Dead 2 and Mortal Shell!
Feasting away on Wreckfest through PS Now!
I have finally picked up the first hitman after it bypassing me for a couple of years, looking forward to tackling that. I am also grinding in Yakuza like a dragon to finish off the game, I don't want it to end.
While i await Hitman 3 its a Monster Hunter weekend for me with
Monster Hunter: Rise Demo on the Nintendo Switch
On Xbox 1 Monster Hunter: World and on Ps4 slaying some Robot dinosaurs with Horizon: Zero Dawn.
@jdv95 Dammit!
Yeah it's working now. Oh well, I now have bright blue and midnight blue controllers.
£50, could've bought 2/3 games with that!
😤
Oh well, lesson learnt.
Thanks to you and Arty McFly!
Unfortunately likely nothing, not had a chance to play the PS5 since before Christmas and also unlikely to do so for another couple of months. May invest in a better TV for when it is finally switched back on again.
Any TV recommendations? Are the 2021 Sony Bravia sets good?
I absolutely have to gain some ground against my colossal backlog so this weekend it's a marathon session of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Red Dead 2 and Mortal Shell!
@Col_McCafferty Yep I knew about the blowing but I think I've been doing it wrong all along. I mean blow like a fan not just in short bursts and probably spinning the sticks a bit.
@TheArt
I tell my girl that, but I swear, she'll never get it right...
@TheArt well it seems to have worked but haven't played a game get just mucked about in the main screen. That's where I first noticed the problem after wondering why I kept on doing an extra movement whilst playing Hollow Knight. Most frustrating!
@Arugula I just mainlined the first area and skipped all the side stuff as I wanted to get to island, I think it was worth it.
Mechs vs. Minions for some tabletop. 13 sSentinels if I get a chance to play video games.
Not much to play atm and waiting for my PC to be built so going through the backlog. Just completed Cold War campaign which was good but not as good as modern warfare. Going to start maneater PS5
Under enforced lockdown as a driving instructor, cant work at all so every day is a weekend !
Carrying on with Cyberpunk on PS4 yes it's playable and a damn fine game after the patches ! Gonna also boot up Star Wars Squadrons finally ! Bought it on release but had no time along with a crack at GoT Legends mode
Will dive into more WoW Shadowlands and StarCraft 2 on PC too ...bring it on !
Have a good weekend guys ♥️♥️
@LordSteev 🤣🤣🤣 ha dare you to show her that 😂
Finished Miles Morales this week. Loved it. Even faffed with the new game+ to get the platinum (for a 40yr old with 2 kids under 5 thats a big deal!). Really kept up the love and heart from the 2018 game well and would love to see more in the series.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla on my PS5 as usual
Still playing Avengers, probably about half way through the main campaign now. Really enjoying. It to be fair, don't think I'll be bothering with the multiplayer stuff though. I'm predominantly a solitary gamer.
@KingPev
lol, she was sitting by me when I typed it. Now she's gone and I've got a new arm bruise.
@LordSteev ha awesome ! One of many I bet 😂
Gonna try and finish up 13 Sentinels Aegis Rom. Totally hooked on that game.
@LordSteev Lol be grateful she's even trying. Some won't even TRY.
@Col_McCafferty It attacked my right stick and the camera in games won't stop moving, was a real pain, knew I had to do something about it without having to buy a 3rd DS4. Seems some people knew about this method but weren't willing to share. rolls eyes
@TheArt Left stick with mine.
Ha, to be fair I never asked anyone for help so this one is definitely on me. I have three controllers that work now so when friends come over (sometime in 2022 at this rate) at least I'll have options.
Just need some proper local co-op games now!
@KingPev
Oh my god, don't get me started..at least it's winter, I can wear a jacket in public to hide the 'abuse'.
@TheArt
Hah! She's left the house so I don't mind saying she gets an 'E' for effort!
I just got the final misc trophies on Infamous Second Son so I'm about to start the evil and hardest playthrough. Hopefully it won't be too bad and that will be my 2nd platinum of the year when it's done.
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Vita) - Still unlocking Red Bricks and characters.
Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two (Windows Store) - Starting Episode Two tonight.
Orbital (Windows Phone) - Starting on this.
Cyberpunk. Probably be playing this one for a while. Also going to try and wrap up Kentucky Route Zero. Happy gaming!
I have finished God of War this week, playing Uncharted 4 now. New to Playstation, for both games when i played them i was thinking "This is the best game i ever played". I loved Tomb Raider games but this is another level.
Horizon Zero Dawn next
Trying out the Monster Hunter Rise demo. Also be doing some more Cyberpunk 2077.
@TheLightSpirit also not trying to start anything but I have to say, why wouldn’t I be playing it? I have had 2 crashes, which happened almost back to back, in 60h of play. No game breaking bugs at all. I’m having loads of fun and everything is working, aside from a few quirks that I know will be addressed. I don’t think my experience with a game has ever been so diametrically different than the general consensus. Honestly, if it wasn’t working, I wouldn’t be playing. There aren’t rose coloured glasses thick enough for me to waste my time.
I wouldn’t stop eating my delicious chocolate bar no matter how many people told me it tasted bad. It tastes fine to me. 😋
Continue Yakuza 7. I'm at Chapter 9 or 10. Still having a blast with the game.
@Jimmer-jammer
"I don’t think my experience with a game has ever been so diametrically different than the general consensus"
This, I think, is the most succinct way to express what I've been feeling about this game and other peoples reaction to it. People have accused me of being a shill for CDPR just because I like this game!
I know absolutely that it will be better after more patching and tlc, but that just doesn't change the fact that I love it right now.
Finished Bloodborne last week after years of avoiding it and now working through Hollow Knight. Apparently these lockdowns have instigated a sort of Stockholm Syndrome and I now can't get enough of getting my ass handed to me ¯(ツ)/¯
Crossed the 100 hour mark in Demon's Souls, few things I want to do before I head for the final boss , trying to get as many trophies first go around before new game+
Demons souls, going to try bugsnaxx next
@LordSteev yeah, the whole shill/fanboy angle is frankly ludicrous. I have nothing to gain from shilling for CDPR, I just think they made a great video game.
I do empathize with those who have had crashing/bug ridden game breaking experiences, like this site’s Robert Ramsey, who was unable to complete the game and awarded an appropriate score. However, that’s no reason to artificially temper my personal positive experience. I really haven’t had these issues.
I’m actually fascinated by this release. I get it, CDPR released a different game than they marketed and people are pissed. They have that right and CDPR should be held accountable. But I’ve moved past that as what they did deliverer is really good. I don’t care about the hype, I care about the product and the product is solid with some admittedly rough edges.
The hyperbolic negative discourse around this game just blew my mind. I was reading headlines like, “Cyberpunk 2077 Is the Game of the Year, in the Same Way Hitler Was Time’s Man of the Year”, from reputable media outlets. Taken on its own? Not so offensive. When you stop and think for even one second where CDPR is located? Tone deaf beyond all measure and inexcusable. I mean really, how this got past an editor is truly beyond me.
Human beings made this game and I just feel like the internet has a way of forgetting that fact and I’ll gladly stand against this mob mentality, especially when my experience with the thing in question has honestly been quite positive.
Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition.
The last of us part 2 and crash insane trilogy
@Jimmer-jammer
Agree completely. To touch on the human factor, I can't help but feel terrible for some of the developers at CDPR. There are some moments that are so great and impactful in this game, you just know they had to be super proud of creating them and eager to share them with the world.
To have those kinds of efforts be buried behind a wall of snark built by releasing early must just be soulcrushing. After patch 1.06, I think I might crash more often than at 1.05, but the game visibly looks better, and the only time I crash is after five or six hours straight.
If I was a developer, and bit off the enormous task of trying to make a game with the scope and depth of Cyberpunk only to have it release early and be derided by critics and fans who miss all of the good that's in there, I would most definitely set my sights much lower for my next project. And that's just sad.
@Eadgar
That's a great way to lose many hours. Great game.
@ApostateMage you’re a gonk by definition
@MightyDemon82 Good stuff!! Demons Souls was my 1st FromSoftware game & 1st platinum! Took roughly 70 hours. Now it’s time to start Dark Souls Remastered
@Jimmer-jammer aside from the bugs and technical issues Cyberpunk is unfinished in every other way, CDPR will be releasing updates and adding features that should have been in game or working to begin with. That’s why any self respecting gamer would wait, so they have time to FINISH their game and we can experience it the way it was meant to be.
I'm feeling either Ghost of Tsushima or Rayman Legends. I'm sure I'm close to finishing Ghost's main story, but like any good platformer, Rayman sucked me in with how fun the levels are. Shame Michel Ancel retired, as I don't know if we'll get another Rayman.
Pretty Princess Party !!! 😆😆😆
Girlie Girlie game on Nintendo Switch.
Being a princess, wearing princess gown, make up, tiara, rainbow, kingdom castle, party, ballroom dancing, decorating room, etc. 👠🌈💄🦄🏰
Just got the Crysis remastered platinum, loved the game in my PC days and played it to death. This version is a very poor port which controls like a ps2 FPS. Bought Nioh 2 for £5 the other day so waiting for the free ps5 upgrade in February to play
@2cents if someone wants to wait for that, all the power to them! I’ve never contested that and won’t. In my reply to @TheLightSpirit I was simply sharing why why I am choosing to play it as they were baffled by why anyone would. If anyone’s on the fence, I would suggest to wait for the PS5 version, but that doesn’t make my great experience with the game any less valuable.
@deathaxe that’s brutal. I would be pretty furious about that. I’m really not trying to convince anyone to play the game, just saying that my personal experience with it has been much, much better than what the general consensus would have you believe about the game.
The discrepancy between experiences across the board with crashes and bugs is the truly baffling aspect of this whole thing to me. How can I and others have so few issues while some of my friends and others have it crash every hour? Crazy
@LordSteev it is sad. People seem to forget that it got fairly excellent reviews across the board upon release. There is a good game here. A botched console launch and the endless nitpicking about every aspect of it is out of control and simply does not align with my experience.
I’ll be playing again as things are added and look forward to an even better experience.
Just completed Persona 5 Royal today, not sure what's next, plan to restart FF7 remake eventually, but not sure I feel like playing another 100+ hour game straight away, probably will look though the backlog for something smaller.
@TheLightSpirit ...and we’re allowed to disagree. Myself and three friends all bought the game on release. One thought it was bloody horrible and actually went for the refund. One thinks it’s one of the best game’s he’s played (on a base PS4 no less). Cheers!
Can't. Stop. Playing. Cyberpunk. Argh!
@ApostateMage I tried it on my OG PS4 but the textures just don’t look right. I’ve got a standard HD LED TV and I’m desperate to play it. I was wondering what in game and tv settings you have? Appreciate any help
I’m playing Final Fantasy II on the PS3 by way of the PS1 Origins collection. 39 hours in and having a great time!
@LobsterJohnson In the game graphics settings i turned off the film grain, chromatic aberration and motion blur. I have a 4k HDR tele and played my first playthrough with HDR on but it does actually look more vibrant with it off. I think the latest patch made everything look a little more crisper too. Whilst the city can still look a little fuzzy at times, the Badlands and the indoor locations look really good.
@Arugula I’m just mashing attack and using my gun occasionally to be honest. Although the traps are kinda cool. Don’t think I am doing it “properly” though, but god dammit I’m getting results.
Hi there fellow gamers.
This weekend I´m playing:
Cheers, stay safe, stay warm and happy gaming weekend for us all
@ApostateMage Thanks for the advice, just tried those settings and you can notice the difference immediately.
@Jimmer-jammer
That's where I'm at, too. I want to get in one full playthrough now, and then another and maybe even a third once everything's patched. I still feel like a 'self-respecting gamer', and I think getting a playthrough done in this rough state actually puts us in a unique position to really appreciate the changes they make. More so than fair weather gamers who chose to sit it out.
Maneater which is just stupid fun. Plus Immortal Fenyx Rising which is way better than I ever thought it would be.
@kyleforrester87
Is there really any other way?
Ate all the Bugsnax on Friday and now I'm finally playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising, which is honestly pretty great unless you hate puzzles in adventure games - I actually like them so this right up my alley.
I’ve changed my mind about Crash 4. What a ridiculous and insanely difficult game it is. It’s like they want to punish the player. This could have been a fun and nostalgic game - there just aren’t enough colourful, family friendly platformers anymore. I don’t know what possessed Toys for Bob to make it so frustratingly difficult. Do they not understand how to make a game accessible to everyone? I love difficult games but this is just taking the P. If they gave this game an easy or even semi-challenging platinum, they could have sold way more copies from the platinum hunters. Ridiculous difficulty will just deter them, which I’m sure is not what any game developer wants.
@LobsterJohnson No probs. I hope you enjoy the game and see the true beauty of Night City.
@fR_eeBritney I havent played yet crash 4, but i'm playing insane trilogy and the difficult are pretty high already. Back in the day we spand hours in a single point of a game, beat one game could make years. My point is, we dont have the pacience anymore, and i agree with you, i want more games to relax as i playing, i buy crash insane trilogy to play with my kid, thats not possible because the chalanges are too high for her.
@Anti-Matter Could you indicate me a girly game for ps4? I have a princess and i have difficulty to arrange games for her...
@Onigumo
Girly games for PS4 ?
Well, if you don't mind with casual games, you can try My Universe games by Microids.
There are My Universe School Teacher, My Universe Cooking Star Restaurant, My Universe Pet Clinic.
Other girly games on PS4 such as Bayala, Bibi & Tina.
If you want a Princess game, consider Pretty Princess Party on Nintendo Switch.
Here is the gameplay video.
After being completely uninterested after the leaks I'm now around 20 hours into The Last of Us 2 and I can say I was completely wrong and wish I would have played it sooner. While I still don't agree with every story decision the overall presentation is right up there with the best of the best. Ghost of Tsushima was my favorite game of 2020 but I'm thinking by the end of this first playthrough that may change
CyberPunk 2077 on PS5 my games seem to error/crash when im driving full speed on the roads. I love the game even though the crashes are annoying when they happen.
I have far too many games on the go, but currently I'm fairly obsessed with Persona 5 Royal. Shadow of The Tomb Raider and Greedfall are calling me, but I'm resisting!
Almost finished Uncharted 4 which has had some great moments and looks incredible but has also bored me at times with far too many repetitive climbing sections.
Dark Souls Remastered is up next
Cyberpunk, had one crash so far, at the end of a five hour session, so I probably needed to get food anyway. This is on a PS4, it works fine, bit slow in places, the only irritating things are a long load times for cut scenes, which then go on too long. The actual gameplay, when you eventually get to it, is quite entertaining. I'll play it now and after the patches 🙂
Ori and the will of the wisp at the moment on Switch. It's graphically lovely.
I'll be on PS5 next week though.
Just started Shadow of Mordor, it's ok I guess.
Finally did a permadeath and grounded playthrough on TLOU2, separately. Not sure it was worth it just to have my trophy percentage back at 100% but oh well.
Also finally got a refund on digital edition of cyberpunk. I'd had a physical copy anyway and switched over to that to play and man, it runs terrible. Like really bad.
Seems weird to me but is there any reason the digital edition would run better?
@zupertramp they should be the exact same game, never heard of a digital edition running any different from a disc version
13 Sentinels, Spiderman Miles Morales and Yakuza 7
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Very much agreed. I wish they'd come up with some other way to categorize dlc trophies. Though I have no idea how it wouldn't still reflect in the overall percentage.
@Voltan idk, maybe I should have done a database rebuild before new install. Or maybe this is just my first time playing since newest patch and my console just doesn't agree with it.
I bought the avengers cheap so i've been playing that this weekend and i am enjoying it..if i'd paid full price i would probably be a bit miffed but for a tenner i cant grumble at all..
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L My Spider-Man sits at 97% (only the two NG+ trophies missing) and I didn't delete it from the console because I will need to fix that at some point
Won't bother with some other games though.
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L. They playing horrible.word up son
Immortals Fenyx Rising, Valhalla, Cyberpunk
@Northern_munkey Given that it got a fair bit of bad press when it was released, it's really a pretty good game, I've certainly played much better games, but i'm enjoying it.
