A bounty of high-profile departures at Polish developer Techland has resulted in real concern regarding the status of Dying Light 2. Most recently, Paweł Selinger, a 22-year veteran at the team, decided to depart from his role as Narrative Designer. In a statement, the studio wished the veteran the best, but stressed “he left a large piece of himself with Dying Light 2, as he worked on the project from the very beginning”.
The firm, in a somewhat unprecedented move, also commented on rumours regarding the Art Director position, confirming there have been no changes to this role. “The position of Art Director is not threatened and has been held by Eric Cochonneau since November 2019,” a spokesperson said. “Eric has been taking care of every aspect of the upcoming production ever since and the team under his leadership is doing their best to offer players the best game possible.”
So, what about that game, then? It was originally due out on the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2020, but it currently doesn’t have a release date attached. Well, Techland promises that it “will be sharing exciting news” about the project in the near-future. Fingers-crossed we get a meaningful update on the game in the coming months, then.

That's good to hear, hopefully it's out this year.
I don't want this game to mess up a bit, they can take all the time they need.
Really looking forwards to this. Dying light 1 was a great game.
The E3 footage from this in, I think, 2019 looked really, really good. I hope they don't run into any more problems bringing this one to light.
They can take as much time as they need. I loved the first Dying Light so I'm looking forward to the second game.
About time we heard something on this. One of my predictions on this site was that we finally get a release date.Hope that's the case and it's soon, absolutely LOVED the first game!
Absolutely loved the first game. It’s the most tense I’ve ever felt playing a game honestly. The sounds of the moaning zombies in the air and the sheer panic when the alarm on you wrist-watch (signalling sunset) begins to beep. Just brilliant.
I hope they don’t change too much because the first game was perfect.
Dying light 1 was really well supported, so I'm expecting Dying light 2 to be pretty good too.
Cherry on top would be PS5 patch for the first one please.
Let em take all the time they need. Surely we will all be happier with a fully cooked product at launch instead of the sloppy half arsed crap we got in December with the game I won't mention
Yes! cant wait for this it will be spot on......
Dying light was boss so cant see this being any different. some news on dead island 2 would be nice too.
The first game was actually really great. I hope they go for slightly less of a ‘run about not knowing what on Earth you’re doing’ vibe in this one though, it teetered dangerously towards live service at times.
I've always wanted to play the first one but never managed to get around to it. Will have to play it before the sequel is out. I mindlessly enjoyed Dead Island as an escape and put way too many hours in despite its many flaws - had always heard Dying Light was much better
On one hand "near future" sounds like a red flag. On the other hand DL 2 released late this year or in 2022 as a PS5 only game may be worth the wait. However my gut says i'll believe it when i see it.
In the meantime good zombie fun can be had at cheap prices for DI, DI Riptide, and DL. The DI games play and look better on PS4 compared to the PS3 versions and the duplication trick still works. DL plays good on my PRO.
New to Dying Light? Research tips and tricks, farm the Stuffed Turtle, and learn how to get the grappling hook asap.
I loved the first one... until I played the dlc. I hated the ending. Wish I stopped after the base game.
Really looking forward to this, I don't mind waiting as long as they release a polished game.
Got a feeling this game is going to be abit of a mesd
Figure no news meant the game is somewhere between Cyberpunk 2077 and Pipe Dream.
Wasnt really my kind of game but it was quality i can respect that.
I don't know what it is about Zombie Games, but I simply can never get enough of them, when Days Gone was announced everyone was complaining "Urgh another Zombie Game?' I was like 'HELL YEAH! BRING IT ON!". The Zombie Game Genre is pretty much my guilty pleasure type of game, but with zero guilt, I love Days Gone, Dead Island, Resident Evil, Telltale's The Walking Dead, Dead-Rising, The Evil Within 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, The Last of Us and of course; Dying Light, and I'm especially hyped for Dying Light 2! I just hope the problems going on behind the scenes, doesn't have a negative effect on the final product.
They've had some financial issues in the making of this game. I could see a bigger player in the market snatching them up if this game is a success.
Glad to hear this. (As long as the news isn't "it's cancelled")
Dying light was a great twist on the open world formula. The gameplay changeup from day to night was truly inspired and a lot of breathless fun.
