Will the Uncharted movie ever come out? You have to assume so at some point, but we're running out of fingers to count just how many times the project has been delayed now. So, yeah, Nathan Drake's big-screen adaptation just got pushed back yet again — this time to 22nd February 2022. As reported by Deadline, it is just one of many delays confirmed by Sony. Others include Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
It's obvious that the coronavirus pandemic is the reason behind them all. Cinemas across the globe are either closed or not attended in their masses like they used to be, but some streaming services such as HBO Max are offering an interesting alternative to film companies. It looks like Sony will be waiting on theatres to open before Uncharted finally releases. In the meantime, there's always the four photos taken from the movie's set to have a gander at.

Oh bloody hell. They’ll have to recast him as Sully at this rate 🤪
Movies are dead and gaming is quickly becoming the largest entertainment sector. That’s pretty much solely down to the delivery method actually being sustainable in today’s world. I do hope to be in a cinema again at some point in the future but they’re going to have to release these movies at some point and I wouldn’t begrudge them releasing the movie to stream and download.
I dont know why anyone thought it was safe to go back to the theaters already.
They literally just showed ghostbusters trailers before movies start recently in Australia lol
Damn damn damn!! Was looking forward to that.
Tenet was a benchmark release that severely underperformed. The situation hasn’t exactly improved since then for most of the world, so it makes absolutely no sense to release any kind of blockbuster in theatres for the foreseeable future. As devastating as that is, it’s how it is.
Wow, just when it looked like things were finally progressing with those four set photos, another delay shows up.
Honestly, I feel at this rate a delay due to the pandemic is a bit ridiculous given it's showing no sign of disappearing anytime soon; at this point, studios should either release the movie on streaming services, or just don't make it. Until word arrives that the pandemic is actually looking to subside, assume it's going to be continuing indefinitely and adjust as needed.
Good call, there's no way I'm going to theatre this year, the risk is not worth it.
Maybe he’ll be old enough to play Nathan by then. I kid I kid
I’m not going to any movies anytime soon. Playing it safe.
It’ll be funny when Chaos Walking gets pushed back again and you have two Tom Holland movies coming out in the same quarter.
@ScottyG It honestly seems like the only two male actors are Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet. They’re in everything now so they’re bound to be competing against each other and themselves at the box office when the cinemas reopen 😂
@nessisonett
If Don’t Look Up releases late enough in 2021 and Chaos Walking gets pushed back you could have back-to-back Timothy Chalamet movies and back-to-back Tom Holland movies in a matter of a few months.
Speaking of young actors the Stranger Things cast is getting pretty old haha hopefully they knock out seasons 4 & 5 at the same time
Ugh. This is all Sammy's fault. I don't know how, it just is.
Oh well, at least Godzilla vs Kong got moved up.
I probably wasn't going to see Uncharted in theaters anyway so this just means I won't be watching it for 18 months now. Ugh I say.
Sony would see a lot more money releasing this for $20 on DTV services. Hell, throw it up on PlayStation Store as a one month exclusive.
I think streaming should be the future for every new film in the future like HBO Max it’s doing nothing can beat the comfort of your own home with a nice TV and good sound
I enjoy the cinema experience, but I must admit that I’m down with just releasing movies straight to streaming. I’m even ok with the 20 dollar price tag. By the time you buy popcorn and a drink you’re way past that price anyway. Plus I live 50 miles from the nearest “good” theater. So I come out ahead on that end, too.
New Mutants 2.0 😂
I like to watch this movie in Theatre probably if its any good. A delay is then not a problem as we can't go now, but more importantly I rather have them release a good movie instead of a quick release that's not any good (Hitman kind of movie).
Spare a thought for us poor Australian residents, cinemas are open but there’s nothing to actually watch.
I’m still hopeful that the Uncharted movie will be awesome. If maintains a sense of humour I think it could be a winner.
I'd happily go sit in a room full of coronavirus tonight to see the new Top Gun, I don't even care. But then, I've always been a bit of a Maverick.
And just when they were about to finally wrap up the production. Honestly, it would have been better if they released the movie on streaming services.
Worrying times for the movie industry, isn't it?
@PhantomFear Exactly, if a go to the theater is to enjoy the movie on the big screen not to pay to get annoyed by some random jerks who uses the theater for other purposes, like the last time that I went I was unfortunately next to some random drunk guy that was burping all the time and the popcorn is too expensive
VoD doesn't seem to work for movies, imo. if a whole family wanted to see a movie, fair enough, but otherwise who is daft enough to rent a movie for £15+.. specially when you can go to an actual cinema for half the price and see it on a decent screen. i also imagine a lot of the big movie companies are reluctant to put stuff up, because then it can be much easier pirated at high quality and distributed online - than somebody sitting in a dark cinema with a phone/camera. selling it to something like netflix, amazon, etc. is extremely unlikely to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars.. even disney isn't rushing to release on disney+ any of its MCU movies that are already in the bag.
PureXbox im sick and tired of the damn add.
Its great to see all the tech savvy people on here dont just stream movies and actually go to the cinema....
Uncharted movie curse strikes again XD. Hopefully this is the final time the movie gets pushed back.
