A common complaint among Destruction AllStars players is about voice chat. When you enter a lobby before a match starts, you're automatically placed into a party chat with your teammates and opponents, much to the chagrin of those not in the mood for a chat. However, developer Lucid Games has responded very quickly, and a game update has just been released that remedies the issue.
Patch 1.2.2 is available to download now, coming in at 827.4MB. The studio has provided patch notes over on Twitter:
So, in addition to fixing some crashes and bugs, this update makes it so you won't have to put up with voice chat "by default". We suppose, if you're feeling sociable, you can create a party chat yourself, which seems like a more sensible approach.
Anyway, good on Lucid Games for getting that sorted so fast. It bodes well for the game, which we're sure will see lots of improvements and updates over the weeks and months ahead.

Very quick response, great work by the team!
It wasn’t really that much of an issue. Yes every match HAD a screaming child but you could easily: double click PS button>click •••>mute voice chat>click PS button. But I get it.
Good! Some people absolutely do my head in on chat, either intentionally or not. Glad they've sorted this so quick.
Voice chat complaints 🙄
Such a non-issue. It was 2 button presses to mute chat (PS button then square button), and 1 to mute the mic on the controller (located on the controller).
@Playstation yep, it's the age of social media being the primary source of 'news' validating all the nonsense we used to ignore.
@Hyperluminal The issue wasn't nonsense when you are playing for longer periods of time those few clicks you have to do (potentially every 4-5 minutes depending on the game mode) really start to get annoying.
@Ben7982 two button presses to mute group chat, thats it. Play a round of COD and you have to do more than that to mute the lobby each time but nobody moans.
@Hyperluminal Since the last three or four CODs you can disable all voice chat indefinitely in the settings. That is why no one is complaining.
They sorted this out years ago.
@Hyperluminal The main reason this was an issue was not all people realised their mic was on and public. Theres stories out there of people booking medical appointments, taxis, etc... in the background and clearly giving out personal details and their home address. Turning it off is hardly a pain i agree, but that right there is why it shouldnt have been turned on automatically for every game on the first place.
@Hyperluminal As other have said on cod you can permanently mute voice chat. But I think the reason it became a big issue in this game was since everyone now has a built in mic on ps5 in game voice partys are filled with annoying people that blast music down the mic
@Hyperluminal I couldn't find the option to mute the chat. And having to do that is an issue. My ears can get blasted by music or whatever someone wants to yell before I can mute it. So doubly, it was a big problem. and I have system setting to mute the controller mic automatically.
