Demon Slayer, the Japanese sensation that became the country’s highest-grossing anime movie of all time last year, is coming to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 this year. Published by Sony subsidiary Aniplex and developed by CyberConnect2, the title will also launch on PC and Xbox One – although those versions aren’t expected to move many units domestically.
Not much is known about the game just now, although a big blowout is expected in a forthcoming issue of Weekly Jump. According to Gematsu translations of news coming out of Japan, there will be both a ‘Story Mode’ and a ‘Tag Battle Mode’, so there’s that. Currently, there’s no word on a Western release either, although it’s possible we’ll learn more later in the year.

Great, it sounds like it's another crappy 3D arena brawler.
@NinjaWaddleDee Yep!
Might prove a bit of a killer app for PS5, considering the franchise's recent popularity.
Please dont be a fighter 2d or 3d, much prefer an adventure/RPG
Oh, good CyberConnect2- Instead, can we please have a HD remaster or remake of the first four .hack games? I would much rather have that
Man, I've been a fan of the 3D arena fighters, especially Naruto Ninja Storm, but why is this series an arena fighter? It's about slaying demons, give me an action RPG or a JRPG!
I've never gotten around to watching Demon Slayer, and i would have been interested in this; but it looks like it'll be a ***** fighting game.
The fact that CyberConnect2 are making it makes want to watch the anime just to fully experience the game. They did such a marvelous job with Naruto.
Come on,have this people not learned, if you want to make a good fighting game based on an anime Ip,Arcsys is your guy,yes even for 3d arena fighters,go take a look at their kill la kill game.
@JapaneseSonic right, missed that sentence, especially with Aniplex of all publishers. But while PC stands a fair chance, I'm with the article on holding little breath for XBox territory. Anything console and not on Switch is pretty much bound to sell best on PS, it seems.
Has there really never been a game named Demon Slayer before?
Great, another freaking 3D brawler arena game. This needs a real game that has focused fights that are only one or two enemies for the most part, but is uniquely developed like any other game and has a real world and story to go through. (think a crossover between the Witcher and Shadow of the Colossus) Enough with garbage treatment of anime games. We need an Arkham Asylum for anime games so badly.
Tracking down monsters needs to part of the game too. Unless we are in for a shocking surprise, this game's existence agitates me.
Love this series, but I’m passing on this game.
@Boon520 Thanks. I'll definitely check it out.
Attack on Titan was absolutely superb. I'm hoping for a satisfying ending.
Demon Slayer is currently streaming on Netflix, for anyone that hasn't seen it yet or wants to watch it again.
It's not the highest grossing anime movie of all time in Japan, @get2sammyb, it's the highest grossing movie in general of all time.
@naruball The art alone is worth watching. One episode in particular is just mind blowing. Great series.
