Update: EA has announced more of what it has in store for its EA Play subscription service over the coming months, with Star Wars Squadrons also set to join the vault in March. There’s no word on when the dogfighting title will be available for members to download, but it’ll follow Madden NFL 21, which is slated for 2nd March.
Then, in April, NHL 21 will be added to the vault as well. Members can also look forward to three free Gold Team Fantasy Packs for Madden Ultimate Team every month, as well as an N7 Weapon Charm in Apex Legends and an XP boost in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team. And that’s everything that the publisher’s got planned for the near-future.
Original Story: The football season is over, and so right on time, Madden NFL 21 is being added to the EA Play vault. This means subscribers will get access to the full game as part of their membership, including Franchise mode, Ultimate Team, and the new arcade-inspired Yard. It’ll be available to download from 2nd March.
Members will also get 10 per cent discounts on any Ultimate Team purchases, and three free Gold Team Fantasy Packs per month. You can find a list of All EA Play Games on PS5, PS4 through the link, if you’re unsure what the service currently offers.
While it’s the only football game currently on the market, we weren’t overly impressed with EA Sports’ latest effort in our Madden NFL 21 review: “Madden NFL 21 has all the same problems as its PS4 predecessor, because it’s basically the same game. The presentation has taken a half-step forward owing to the increase of hardware power, but it’s many yards behind the standard now set by FIFA 21 and NBA 2K21.”

Everyone make a note dont buy madden in August wait 6 months and get it in EA Play
Ultimate team purchases, gold team fantasy packs.....I miss Madden 04 when the game was just a solid football sim with tons of customizable features. Not magic the gathering
And for those of us with Game Pass subscriptions, EA Play is already included. Put that in your tail pipe and smoke it, Sony!
NOTE: Very much a joke - just channeling fanboyism.
The NFL season might be over, but it's going to be a while before the next installment of Madden comes in, so this is nice for fans of the Madden series.
The last time I played a Madden game was on the Xbox 360 circa 2006, so if I were to play any new Madden title, I am sure it would feel like an upgrade.
Boycotting this garbage until they feel compelled to get off their lazy arses and actually make some real changes instead of a roster update.
@GamingFan4Lyf lol, I wouldn't be too sure of that. 2006 probably had a deeper franchise mode/scouting reports than what they have shoveled out over the last 5 years or so.
@Jayslow I love this post!
@LordSteev I miss NFL 2K from the Sega Dreamcast days.
@GamingFan4Lyf Hah! Me too. And Tecmo Bowl, lol...
EA Play is alright, I played and got the platinum in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for 5 bucks.
Cant wait to try Star Wars Squadrons. The game is something i Wouldn't outright buy (not in flying sims or whatever) but since its "free" i should check it out
@LordSteev Tecmo Bowl was the GOAT back in the day.
I think I ended up having more experience with Super Tecmo Bowl.
I remember Joe Montana II Sports Talk Football on Sega Genesis - one of the first to have "live commentary".
Nice. Played through a season of the quarter back mode on 20 via game pass so I'll probably give it a miss. Will give NHL 21 a go in April though.
Currently playing the SW Jedi game on XBSX and really enjoying it. Much more than I thought I would tbh. Will definitely give Squadrons a look.
@Jeevz I think the real value of EA play comes in if you have an Xbox. You get access to the 360/PS3 gen games and it's free with Game pass ultimate. That said if you've got your eye on a particular game on the service it's fine value too. As you say, $5 to play Fallen Order is more than fair. Definitely cheaper than it would have been back in the day to rent it from the video store until you finished the campaign.
I don't think I'd pay for it separately long term though.
@GamingFan4Lyf
I can't help but think we're dating ourselves...I can't even remember what year that must have been!
@GamingFan4Lyf. Agree joe montana the 👑 for sega genesis was amazing.word up son
@LordSteev Meh, I just figured we are well-seasoned gamers.
I may not be able to keep up with kids in COD, but I can beat Ghosts n' Goblins and can get through Mega Man 2 without dying. LOL
@GamingFan4Lyf
I feel you man! The last online game I was really into was Heretic 2. That's quake engine ancient!
@LordSteev In college, we used to do Counter-Strike (back when it was still a mod) and Quake games over the school network.
We had a friendly rivalry with a few people from another dorm - one of the guys actually had a computer with 2 CPU's and he used to dedicate one CPU to hosting the game and the other to play.
This was 1999-2000.
@GamingFan4Lyf
Hah! I remember we did straight up Quake 1 and 2 deathmatch sessions on a lan back at San Diego State, some time in the late 90's. It was great! No lag, just frag!
