There’s a new Mortal Kombat movie, in case you didn’t know, and it’s launching on 16th April in both theatres and on the HBO Max streaming platform. The film – a reboot – stars Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion. It obviously looks terrible, but in an endearing way.

It’s actually a good cast. I mean it looks terrible but not unwatchable.
This looks like a bloody good time...and I mean that literally.
I want it now on hbomax
Damn. Watched the original one a couple of weeks ago. Graphics have got better haven’t they. I noticed cars driving around in the background in the scene where Cage and Scorpion are fighting in the woods 😂 Didn’t see that sort of stuff back in 1995.
Looks so bad... I’m all in!!!
I’m looking forward to this madness
The first movie I’ve been hyped for in years.
It looks great, bring on the fights!
Looks like a good time, definitely watching. The first one is actually a good film, the second one isn't but I still like it cause it had awesome fight scenes.
Kinda wish they hired the acapella kid to do the theme.

When I heard it was no longer the director from the Youtube series I was disappointed.
When I read it was focusing on a new character that isn't in the games I was severely disappointed.
When I saw the trailer I was pleasantly surprised. It looks like mindless fun, and exactly what I'd want from an MK movie that doesn't follow the storyline from the game.
Mortal kombat 1995 is still the best video games movie ever made.word up son
Haven't gotten chills and feels like this since I first watched the Mass Effect Andromeda trailer, lol. KAN'T WAIT.
Wow they actually casted as Sonya Blade (my favourite MK character) someone who actually looks like her! I was afraid of a Lara Croft / Wonder Woman situation.
Sub-Zero blood freezing looks sick, hopefully they add this to HBO Max
The only way this is gonna work is ultra violent gory madness ,nobody is gonna care who killed whos family member, and please no sonya romance option.
The original is a camp classic and one of the best bad movies around! This looks... ehh, okay I guess. Pretty generic blockbuster fluff. It'll probably be forgotten about by the end of the year.
Mortal Kombat is such a stupid franchise. Don’t understand it at all. Silly characters, absurd violence as fan service, and crappy, amateur hour gameplay. The gaming equivalent of Paul Blart Mall Cop; made by idiots for idiots.
This looks like it will pass about 100 minutes nicely. It's not going to be on anyones list of top films of 2021 though.
@GKO900 already confirmed its coming to HBO max on release day. I personally think it looks awesome
It looks terrible? Not to me...
Looks ok, in a mindless fun sort of way.
Actually looks like great fun, i'm pretty excited and Scorpion said it.
@HeathenFriar Says the person with that picture for an avatar.
good god this is so bad.
visuals look good, but this isn't even a download for me..so bad.
@Weebleman Nice getting HBO max for this and for some reason watching a new movie of MK makes me feel nostalgic and old at the same time
@GKO900 I know how you feel. My birthday next month and im well at the point that i pay no attention to it anymore.
March and April are good months on HBO max with snyders justice league cut, godzilla v kong (im a sucker for these flicks) and mortal kombat. Something to look forward to which is more and more of a novelty at the minute
YOOO SCORPION SAID THE THING
waiting to hear people bitch about it. its mortal kombat its going to be decent regardless
@rumple1980 its mortal kombat, what were you expecting?
YES. Had to stop watching, can't spoil the dumbest fun ever
How does it look terrible though
Eh, it looks ok, but nostalgia won't let anything beat out the original MK movie for me.
If they don't use the original movie theme song and turn it into some modern crap version like what happened with Ghostbusters, I'm going to flip my 💩! 😡
No one will care if I do of course, but I'll do it anyway.
@Jackpaza0508
Your avatar is equal parts hilarious and terrifying, but leaning more towards terrifying. 😆
@GKO900 its releasing day 1 on hbo max
@Wavey84 Totally agree! (though I would say PWS also put out another banger in Event Horizon before sharply falling off a cliff and, well, he's still plummeting).
This new MK looks like it takes itself far too seriously, without an iota of self-awareness; which, just kinda makes everything look so much sillier. The original embraced its goofiness.
Also, where the hell is Johnny Cage? We need a down-to-earth audience surrogate; I don't see anyone in the new film fitting that role.
@Kang81 thanks for the... compliment?
@HeathenFriar The dumbest comment I have seen here in PushSquare.
Needs Christopher "Highlander" Lambert back as Raiden!
Also, the original had one of the best themes ever!
Looks incredible to me but that better not be reptile getting his heart ripped out but kano! Monster doesn't look great and how could you kill such an amazing character in a trailer REPTILE!!!!!!
@Zuljaras My opinion is “dumb”? Lol
Enjoy your Mortal Kombat and Adam Sandler movies. Not everyone can be intelligent, I guess...
@HeathenFriar You are so "intelligent" that your only option is to guess.
Even Adam Sandler movies have more quality than your comments.
PS: You were right about credibility so I changed the word
It looks awsome. 😁
Do you even know what the word “credibility” means? Look it up in the dictionary before using it. I’ve played the latest MK game and it’s shallow, gory garbage for immature teenage boys, just like the previous entries in the series.
Whatever, I’m bored with this.
@smythelove Mortal Kombat (2021) will also be available on HBO Max same day as the theatrical release.
@Weebleman @GKO900 Warner Brother is definitely stepping up their game, with all 2021 films releasing same day on HBO Max.

I've never played the games that seriously, but definitely looking forward to checking this movie out!
@KidBoruto That’s fantastic! FATALITY!
