Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has a PlayStation 5 release date – and also a 23-minute short movie, animated by the makers of the full-length film and aired on Canadian network Crave. Apparently, this dates back to 2019, and precedes the new PlayStation Productions branding that Sony is tagging all its cross-media efforts with. However, the plot does see Nefarious armed with his Portalizer, so the connections to the upcoming exclusive are easy to make – even if it’s allegedly not canon.
The special – named Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie – features all of the original voices, but bizarrely has not been promoted by Insomniac Games or Sony. The creators of the short, Mainframe Studios, have since acknowledged its existence, courtesy of the Twitter post above. Unfortunately, for now, Crave is the only network you’ll be able to watch this; we’ll reach out to the platform holder and see if it has plans for a wider release.

Where’s the tiger?
Is there any legit way to watch this outside of Canada?
@Voltan It has been uploaded to YouTube but obviously that's... Not really legal.
I'm going to ask Sony if there are plans for a wider release but obviously it's the weekend now.
Pretty weird all around, this.
So are we meeting a Lombax named Richard Parker in this one?
I guess I can check it out in my free time. I do have a Crave account
I'd like to see it once it's more widely available.
I just finished watching this, and it was surprisingly good. Way better than that boring, bland movie.
I love Ratchet & Clank but Dr Nefarious... again... 🙄 they need a new villain because Nefarious has been done to death at this point.
Ah yes, the Portalizer.
Which is just a Dimensionator.
@Voltan one way is if you hsve a laptop or pc download a YouTube download app on it then get the url and then download the video to your device then can watch offline.
Not worth pre ordering the game anyway.. no console to play it on. 🙄
Why would Sony not promote this AT ALL is beyond me. Great animated short and WAY better than the movie. Wish they could make it a show.
I just went ahead and watched in YouTube. Good stuff Gimme the game now!
@TheFrenchiestFry Who's Richard Parker?
@fR_eeBritney I do agree that Nefarious is overused alot...hopefully the true villain in Rift Apart is not Nefarious again.
@hoffa007 They were asking for a legal way to watch it outside of Canada, what you're suggesting is still illegal.
@Steve30000 Hopefully PS5 stock will stabilize by June, that'd be nice.
@KidBoruto kinda but you are extracting the vid from YouTube just like any other video on there.
@hoffa007 Yes but the YouTube source is still illegal and a breach of copyright.
