First footage of CyberConnect2’s hotly anticipated PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 anime adaptation Demon Slayer has emerged online – and, to the surprise of no one, it’s an anime arena brawler. The similarities to series like Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm will be immediately obvious to fans of that franchise, although those titles do naturally share the same developer.
There’s no word on a Western release date for this just yet, but it’s due out in Japan this year, where it will be published by Sony subsidiary Aniplex. The gameplay you’re seeing is taken from the title’s Versus Mode, but it’s worth noting there will be a full story campaign as well, and we’ll likely see more of that closer to release.

I personally don't like Anime styled games. I know, I know.
Storm games from CyberConnect2 are top notch, there’s isn’t a better studio to helm this. Shame I don’t enjoy this anime.
Nevertheless it can’t be worse than Jump Force 🙄
Noooo
Actually I'll give it a fair chance. I recently bought Kill La Kill IF on sale for $10 and it actually has more depth to the combat than I was expecting from an arena brawler.
Why though? How are they going to do the story mode? They don't really fight each other in the anime...
"Before we fight this demon that's eating all the townspeople, we must fight!"
I'd be all about this game if it was an action RPG where you could go around and, you know, slay demons.
I'm hyped. Might not be worth $60 but CC2 made it and their Storm games don't feel clunky and slow like other arena fighters. This looks just as fluid.
Hoped it wouldve been an rpg adventure, but I'll take an arena fighter by CC2 over whoever made Ones Justice or Jump Force lol
@Deadlyblack That was made by Arcsys and not CC2.
I hate that anime games are always the same. I want such a best show to have it’s one real game that built around Demon Slayer, not an existing template it’s copy and pasted onto. Anime games have so much more potential than they do now, they just never are given a real chance.
I was hoping for something more in the vein of the Fairy Tail game.
An arena brawler is a big pass for me.
I mean, at least it's no Knights of Brittannia, Jump Force or One Punch Man.
Still wished it was more than another arena fighter.
@rachetmarvel I know lol.
Disappointing.
WOW ANOTHER ARENA BRAWLER? Like nearly every other anime game from Bandai Namco? Wow... I'm so damn excited for yet another ***** arena brawler...
if it's anything like naruto suns it's gonna be great.
@Ralizah I hope with way more polish that game was rough the city with only 3 characters copied in the entire city....
@Flaming_Kaiser I just mean in the sense that Fairy Tail was an RPG instead of an arena brawler. How cool would it be to have a Demon Slayer ARPG? Instead we get these zero-effort arena brawler cash-ins.
well, it's exactly what I was expecting. Not going to buy it, but it was fun to see the seiyuus duking it out.
The game literally look like a reskin of CC2's storm games. Every thing from the character select screen to even the character animations... It as if they just took the Naruto characters out and added character from Demon Slayer.
@Ralizah Ah ok the game wasnt that terrible but it needed a lot more polish. I believe with a little more love that game could have been great. I have better polished indie games (no disrespect towards those). But it was really rough around the edges.
Kimetsu no Yaiba is a great manga (and will be a great anime, when they get to the better parts of it), but arena fighters/fighting games in general are just not for me. Even when I check out some gameplay like this and think it looks neat, the reality is I'd get tired of playing it in literal minutes.
I'll be looking forward to seeing more of the cast being brought to life here, but as far as a purchase goes, it's gonna be a pass for me.
