For those of you who care, it’s Super Bowl LV this weekend, which means Brady vs Mahomes – and, er, a live performance from The Weeknd. For the rest of you, it’s another good opportunity to play some video games. Whatever the case, let us know what you’re playing in the comments section below.

I've been getting my juices flowing for the forthcoming Super Bowl by wasting an unreal amount of time in Madden NFL 21's Ultimate Team mode. I currently have an 89 overall team with some real studs on both offense and defense, but I'm targeting that coveted 90 overall rating.

I think I'll dip back into Destruction AllStars here and there this weekend. It isn't perfect, but it's got something at its core that's keeping me interested. Really interested to see how the game evolves in the coming weeks and months. Elsewhere, Sackboy: A Big Adventure still needs playing; I've neglected it long enough.

After weeks of talking about it, I can confidently say that this is going to be the weekend where I finally finish off Resident Evil 2 Remake! If I finish early enough though, I'd like to go back and tackle more of Final Fantasy VII Remake, since that has been on hiatus for over a month now.

I've discovered hidden away on the title screens of the first two Turrican games that I can access a music menu by pressing R1, so between playing Amiga games on Turrican Flashback, I'll be listening to some of my favourite Chris Huelsbeck tunes like Turrican's Jet Pack Attack and especially Turrican II's Traps.

I’ve been mostly playing Okami HD. The game had never really been on my radar until the PS4 remaster came about and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it so far. I’ve also decided to start anew on No Man’s Sky having installed the PS5 update. It feels like a totally new game compared to the one I loaded up back in 2016 in the best way.
What are you playing this weekend? What are the games that have been keeping you occupied at the start of this year? Let us know in the comments section below.

Trying to finish AC Odyssey. Been ready to finish the game for a few days but I’m massively under levelled so having to grind like a mofo to get where I need to be. I’ve enjoyed it but damn is it looong.
After Odyssey I’ll be finishing collecting puzzle pieces in Astro’s playground.
I need something short as a refresher before I start Demon Souls. So far I’m considering Shadow of the Colossus or Control but which to go for???
Yakuza Like a Dragon is what I’ll mostly be playing on PS4. I might try to get in Samurai Shodown and Dragon’s Dogma. Watching the Super Bowl on Sunday of course.
I tried Cyber Shadow. It's HARD. I will be back.
Also started God Of War with the new PS5 patch and it's pretty amazing, not gonna lie. I hardly remember anything about it at this point so while the events are familiar, I get to explore the levels pretty much like the first time.
Mostly be playing some more Hitman 3. Also going to continue with Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse.
Am I still playing Cyberpunk 2077 almost 2 months after release? Of course I am.
Also a bit of Resi 7 which I bought in the sale and some peace and tranquility in Red Dead Online.
@SterlingEyes Shadow of the Colossus is definitely the shorter and simpler of the two - you can finish it over the weekend
Judgment. Amazing game.story and graphics.garou mark of the wolves. A classic snk fighting game.and control ultimate edition great game.but the map in control is horrible.and watching the chiefs winning the superbowl.word up son
I’m playing Cyber Shadow and Pillars of Eternity this weekend. Finally got round to selling my PS4 Pro too, so just in the process of wiping all the data and I’ll get it packed up. Easy come, easy go!
I’m going to give the Immortals demo a shot, too.
Went back to the best FTP game so far - Genshin Impact. Got me a new character - Beidou. Her moves are slick. Then of course I'm still on the game of the gen - RDRII. Plus some LA Noire, AC Odyssey and whatever.
Little bit of everything I think. Ive been playing Planet Coaster the last few days, its great, brings back so many memories of RollerCoaster Tycoon. Destruction All-stars here and there and amongst that I'll be starting Control from scratch, got about halfway through on PS4 but now ofcourse will start the Ultimate Edition from the beginning.
Slow and steady on God of war for me. Just in the process of getting that chisel thing.
Playing through concrete genie which is completely peaceful definitely something I need after this week in work. Also bought the pathless so I'm having a super chill weekend
I'm mostly waiting for Persona 5 Strikers in a couple of weeks, but I've bought the Resident Evil 2 and 3 pack in the current sale so will dive into one of those. Will by my first time playing a Resident Evil game. Will also continue with Control.
Having a break from Yakuza not feeling no 3 so far, going to leave it for a bit. So I started a new game of no man's sky so been playing that quite a bit. Also been playing wrc on ps5 enjoying that too love the dualsense on it, and still got sackboy to finish that's pretty good too, so got enough to get on with lol.
Figure I should finish Shantae and the Seven Sirens this weekend.
Have started Control from PS Plus. I am enjoying it so far but my god the map is just as bad as I had heard, minor complaint though.
Same as I said on nintendolife
Playing shadow of the tomb raider on the ps5 and almost done with it. Love the TR2013 trilogy and I’m glad they announced a sequel to it.
Besides that pokemon gold on my gb. Will play final fantasy 13 on my ps3 after.
Can't stop myself from playing ps5 everyday lol, I can't get enough of ps4 patched to (near) 4K & 60 fps games for ps5.
I've been playing jedi fallen order (basically uncharted star wars, it's a great game), the division 2 (really fun shooter, 60 fps is a must for this type of games), bugsnax (the story and gameplay is really interesting, I planned to buy the game if sony didn't add it on psplus), control (rtx mode is good but I prefer 60 fps all the way), cyber shadow (I like it's hard but fair gameplay, and the story is interesting), double dragon 2 nes kunio-kun collection (the game still really playable and fun to this day, and the soundtrack is still super great), and last, genshin impact, I just want to finish the story while ignoring the daily grind, like all previous games, playing this game at 60 fps is super great 😃
Vanquish Remastered on PS4. Still a great game but not as much depth as say, a Gears of War game, but great arcadey fun nonetheless.
Also carrying on with Cyberpunk 2077 - still loving it but sick of getting spam calls to buy cars I can't afford ha ha.
Will also be playing my drug of choice, Battlefield V - a superb multiplayer shooter, trying to lvl up my Recon skills
Have a good weekend guys ♥️♥️
Rise of the Tomb Raider, Control, Wreckfest, Age of Calamity and a few N64 games.
Destruction All-Stars, don’t care if I win don’t care if I lose just want to hit things and kick people off platforms, between smashing stuff fallout 4 and control.
Some Bloodborne, completed 2 endings, probably go for the third ending, struggling with a boss in the dungeons at the moment, so hopefully get past that to. Also I'm playing Murdered sole suspect and intend to start concrete genie.
Destruction Derby 2 on the PS1, still a very fun racing game with the added chaos of smashing other cars to pieces. Also I've been playing Castlevania Symphony of the Night on the Sega Saturn thanks to an English translation patch, a bit of Goldeneye XBLA on the PC and I'm gonna continue with Assassin's Creed Valhalla and its lovely recreation of York
I recently bought an Evercade and a few cartridges, so perhaps some Megadrive Midnight Resistance and some Dizzy games... Also Turrican Flashback on PS4. I have a few other PS4 games to get to, but seem to be mostly playing retro games at the moment.
Some more Miles Morales, I’m around 50% completion, so may continue and try to Platinum this.
The recent Silent Hill discussion has tempted me to get the PSP out and play some of the original, so perhaps a little of that also.
Played some Destruction All-Stars yesterday, but I really can't see myself going back anymore. I think it's not a good game at all, honestly.
I've been diving into the PS+ Collection on PS5 recently, and discovered the marvel that Ratchet and Clank really is, so I'll be switching between that and God of War, another great title I missed out on last generation.
Have my Vaccine jab tomorrow so if all goes well I may be coming to the end of my shielding phase and back to work I go so will have to make the most of the gaming time I have left.
Got the Plat for Bugsnax yesterday, absolutely fantastic game and hope a sequel is planned!
Started Concrete Genie which is an amazing and light hearted game that I'm enjoying immensely.
Also started Nelke And The Legendary Alchemists but it's not really grabbed me at all..
May play a few games of Destruction All Stars which keeps pulling me back for another go despite not being a multiplayer fan..
Also still pressing on with Assassins Creed Valhalla
Just finished Cyber Shadow (fine but unremarkable) and The Medium (excellent start, second half a bit disappointing), next up: Yakuza Kiwami and Desperados III.
Should finish No No Kuni: Wrath of the white witch today, Almost beat it earlier but ran out of stuff to replenish my MP after an unexpected final final boss. So a little trip to the shops to stock up and have another go later! Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Mainly Ghost of Tsushima plus the odd match on FIFA.
Definitely rooting for the Chiefs on Sunday, in the other football just hoping Spurs don't lose!
Have a good one, folks.
Playing through the all 3 Streets Of Rage games on the sega megadrive collection on PS5 with my girl. And then we’ll be onto playing Streets Of Rage 4.
@Wazeddie22 additional Bugnsax content is pretty much confirmed at this point, according to the devs. Understandably, they're not saying what (dlc/sequel) or when yet
Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Will also go back to Valhalla to kill some more of the Order members when I have the time.
Fire base z with that 3D audio cranked up! Unnerving to say the least...
@SterlingEyes I'd say Shadow of the Colossus my friend, just to take a break from the usual 3rd person action game
Still on a Yakuza binge. Just got the platinum for 0, going to do the Majima stories in Kiwami 2 then try again to finish the climax battles in Kiwami 1 before the legendary playthrough.
I think this is now my favourite franchise of all time.
Immortals Fenyx Rising on PS4 and over on XBSS The Medium and probably make a start on the Falconeer. Have a good weekend all!
@Voltan Excellent news!I'd be happy with either to be honest so long as I get to munch on more Bugsnax
Overwatch (Switch) - Will be playing the Year of the Ox event.
Angry Birds Stella (Windows Phone) - Still in the first part of the game.
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - On the last two missions to beat on hard.
Orbital (Windows Phone) - Still not really liking this, but progress is being made.
Forward my mail to Night City. Also, a short while ago I noticed my machine had downloaded a new patch for Wasteland 3, so I started another playthrough with that. It seems much smoother now than it was on release, and to my surprise, not one crash yet!
So yea, both of those.
Hi there fellow gamers.
So, I bought The Surge 2 Premium for 18€(bargain) and even though I played it on PC, I just couldn´t resist playing this awesome game again and getting the Platinum, this time, on PS5.
That´s one.
The others are going to be:
Cheers, stay safe good people and happy gaming weekend for us all
I’ll delve into Persona 5, working through September still. After getting my fill of that, I might play another chapter of Guardians of the Galaxy, or maybe start my playthrough of Uncharted.
The beginning of this year is pretty slow for new releases right? So I'm using this time to tackle my backlog, on the list is: Frozen Wilds DLC for Horizon, Persona 5 Royal, DBZ Kakarot, Demon's Souls, Doom Eternal, Jedi Fallen Order, Little Nightmares, with some matches of Apex in between when I get a little singleplayer burnout. Also once Ragnarok has a release date replaying GOW at a glorious 4k/60😍.
Trying to knock all these out before May because that's when it seems this year kicks off for gaming, with all of these out of the way I can fully focus on Returnal, RE:Village, and Mass Effect Legendary edition.
Also I've been looking for some more PS5 friends, add me at TraCuz-, just say you're from push square. Happy gaming!
@Hootnoodle I really loved Concrete Genie. It’s such a beautiful, polished game that doesn’t overstay its welcome. People seemed to react to it with a shrug when it launched, but hopefully more will give it a try now that it’s on plus.
Glorious 4K 60 FPS God of War is getting some play, as is Destruction All Stars.
PS5 arrived this week, loving it. I had day 1 PS4 so the PSVR visual upgrade is remarkable. Blood and truth is incredible on PS5. So much to play but Control will be my go to. Didn’t know much about it tbh but a couple of hours in and hooked by the story and the game play is good too.
Mainly God of war i never finished it so started again since it got updated loving it so far
Finished TLOU2 earlier this week. UNBELIEVABLE game! Absolutely loved it. Just started Ghost of Tsushima the other day. About 2-3 hours in. I think I'm gonna like this game too haha. And then all eyes on watching mahomes and company win their second superbowl in a row, and hopefully see Brady retire and never throw another football again.
@Reyren My friend here's a couple switch games to check out
Akane
Celeste
Hades
Both Ori games
And of course Breath of the Wild and Odyssey
@Reyren I'm personally just getting started with Ori, I wanted to jump straight into the sequel,
but after playing the demo I decided I should show the first one due diligence. So far it's a great platformer that gives me some of those old Rayman vibes. I highly suggest Akane, there's no way you find a better game for the ultra low price of $5
Call of Duty Cold War (Series X) Double XP weekend and I am enjoying the Express map alot.
Madden 20 (Series X) Still play through face of the franchise
I am about 15 to 30 minutes away from getting the Platinum in Ghost of Tsushima. Wow. It's hard to believe my adventure in Tsushima is coming to and end. That game is one of the greatest games I have played.
@B_Lindz I was very close to the platinum but I forgot to save my data to the cloud so now everything is gone , I was about 5 foxes away and about 10 artifacts. I don't have it in me to do it all again
Continuing the quest for the Hollow Knight platinum, but I think the dream is dying...
@TraCuz- Oh dude, that breaks my heart. I'm really sorry to hear that that happened to you.
@B_Lindz Yeah heartbroken for sure, I'm curious to know what you chose at the end of game. To spare others from spoilers I'll ask did you choose L2 or R2? I chose R2, because I have no honor
@TraCuz- I have no honor as well.
Having finally got my Cyberpunk platinum so I am going for something a bit different in Sackboy A Big Adventure, couldn't be more different but really enjoying so far! Immortals next!
Ni No Kuni 2. What a great game.
Took a short detour with Gris (beautiful little game with an epic soundtrack) over the week. I’m right near the end, then back to Cyberpunk and Doom.
Ys IX for me. Really enjoying it. There's something about how the Ys games handle exploration that makes me want to see and collect everything.
Still playing Fallout 4. Three weeks since playing anything else and I'm not sure when I'll be done with it…
Immortals Phoenix rising. Loving it, first good game from Ubisoft in forever
@Gremio108 love hollow knight. 106% completed it according to the game.. platinum % = 15% lol
@Mostik so I loved cyberpunk. But I only got like 80% of the trophies because I didn’t save takemura or w.e.. should I replay the game for the plat?!!
More forza horizon 4, the top gear/stuntman/exibit races are brilliant! More witcher 2, those who complain about combat in 3 should not play this. I also tried about 30 mins of inside on switch. Already think its great, here was me thinking limbo was dark. But most importantly, revelling in a great result at Twickenham! Absolutely deserved, Scotland very much the better side today 🏴
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L kinds glad I did it this way now this seems to be the best way to play the game may go back to other games i did this with like days gone
Playing godfall..really enjoying it and i am struggling to see why the reviews have been so unkind..looks and sounds amazing and the combat is so slick.solid 8/10 for me..
@Mgene15 Yeah, this isn't a simple as I thought it would be, and that's an understatement
It's Control for me!
I searched my ps+ library for a 3rd person time sink and found Darksiders 3....which I deleted in seconds. Next try was Shadow of War which I'm enjoying a lot more!
Also picked up Déraciné in the sale so will be getting the VR headset out tomorrow. Too hungover today 😆
Mortal Kombat 11 ultimate is just the perfect fighting game, there's so much content which is bad for WB because I will continue waiting for the ultimate edition of their games.
As for football I don't think I've ever watched a full game and couldn't name you more than a handful of players however! this match up of greatest of all time vs greatest of right now has peaked my interest so I will try to watch the whole game.
Played some ranked MK11 for the first time today. Lost 5 sets, won 4. Not too bad for a n00b, I guess. My defence definitely needs more work. The worst part was going against an opponent whose connection just sucked.
Then I ended the day with a bit of Destruction All Stars and it reminded me why the Dual Sense is the best controller. I need to check out the haptics in Control!
@Juanalf I'm totally in love with MK11. I got it a few weeks ago and honestly did not expect to enjoy it this much.
Still playing Cyberpunk
@Mgene15 That is a shame mate, if you don't have an earlier save then you can mainline the story in about 30 hours so it is your call. The mission to save Takemura (Search and Destroy) is about 2/3 into the story, if it was me I would clean up all other trophies on your current save and just main line to the Search and Destroy mission to save Takemura and just do The Devil ending as the last mission is a good 40 - 60 minutes. I don't want to spoil any endings for you but it is a decent if obvious outcome PS. if you choose to mainline the story then definitely take advantage of the money glitch in Walk the Line as infinite money speeds things up considerably which is also a good trick if you haven't bought all motors yet as money takes a while to bank. Sorry for the wall of text!
Started Concrete Genie, which is beautiful, and the kids are enjoying watching it too. Other than that, about to proceed to the third Palace on Persona 5 Royal. Still happy with my decision to wait a bit for PS5, until the madness has died down a bit and game prices are lower.
Finally got my Bloodborne Platinum... Not sure what I'll be mainlining next... I'm considering picking up the Nioh Collection on PS5 and giving it an proper go because I bounced off it long ago, but that was before I became the Souls-fiend I am now.
@Ristar24 Hey mate, great minds think alike, because I'm playing the exact same retro games as you this weekend.
I was talking about Midnight Resistance with @LieutenantFatman in the comments section of my PS4 Turrican Flashback review the other day, so I've also been playing Mega Drive Midnight Resistance by means of the Data East Collection 1 on my Evercade this weekend, too. Talking about quality retro run-and-gun music, Midnight Resistance has one of my favourite soundtracks, as well.
By playing the Turrican Flashback collection, I've also got a better understanding of why the consensus is that Mega Turrican is superior to Super Turrican. The Mega Drive game is closer to the atmosphere of the earlier Amiga releases, and it has stronger boss encounters, with a more coherent gameplay ending.
Both of these 16-bt console games are great though, and I still have a soft spot for Super Turrican, predominantly from playing it on the Wii’s Virtual Console. The SNES game is really bright and fun, with visually diverse levels. I just wish it had more boss battles, and a final encounter against The Machine would have made more sense.
Started Lost Legacy this weekend. I'm really loving the semi open world. If we do get a new Uncharted game I hope it follows this formula. Besides that, played a little Ni No Kuni 1, Octodad, and Control. I was down on the latter when I first saw it, but since it was included with Plus I decided to give it a go. It's really an incredible game.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with gaming in the coming months, but this is busy season at work so I'll definitely have to make some hard decisions on what I play for a little while.
@grahamd You are too Oop for this thread 😉
@JamieO Hey, yep I certainly agree after playing through the Amiga Turrican games on PS4 (I had them on C64 back in the day), Mega Turrican is a more faithful game to the series than the more linear SNES title. I also played that first on the Wii VC.
Gunlord X on PS4 is a really good Turrican style game too.
Midnight Resistance I first played on my friend's Atari ST years back. I recently bought a Super Retrocade and playing the excellent arcade version reminded me I'd meant to get the Megadrive version for some time, but the price put me off. Really pleased I could pick the game up cheap for the Evercade and I think the MD version is equal to the arcade, the music surpasses it!
Nothing yet, but hoping to resume Quantum Break (XB1) soon, my OCD is making me beat this before I start playing Control: Ultimate Edition.
