So, that weird Twitter exchange between Tony Hawk and Crash Bandicoot wasn't for nothing after all. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, last year's excellent PlayStation 4 remake, is indeed heading to new platforms, and that includes PS5.
The upgraded version of the game will run at a native 4K at 60 frames-per-second or, if you have a capable display, 1080p at 120 frames-per-second. It also supports "spatial audio", which presumably means PS5's Tempest 3D audio solution. There's no word on DualSense feature support.
Is it a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5? Yes and no. If you own the Digital Deluxe Edition of THPS 1+2, you will gain access to the new version for free. If you own the regular version, the upgrade will cost you $10. For that price, you'll not only get the upgrade, but you'll also get the Digital Deluxe goodies too — that means a new playable character — Powell Peralta's Ripper — as well as a bunch of retro-themed cosmetics for your custom skater. The game will launch on PS5 on 26th March, so there's just a few weeks to wait.
Will you be grinding your way to Tony Hawk's PS5 port? Heelflip into the comments section below.

@Quintumply Great news, do you know if we will get a retail version for PS5 too?
Activision just can't help themselves can they.
Will the upgrade be available if you have the PS4 retail version?
@Mostik I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised.
To be honest I am not keen on this “pay wall” for the upgrade from the standard version 🤔
IT LOOKS SO SHINY WOW
So presumably we dont get the free upgrade for the boxed copy either 🤔 Oh Activision. You give with one hand and with the other...you take away our skateboard from beneath us.
I have the digital deluxe edition so I'm stoked to get the PS5 version at no additional cost. I hope my PS4 progress transfers over because I'm not starting the grind to Level 100 again. It would be nice if they reworked the XP system in the game so you can actually get to level 100 without grinding the game like it's MK9.
@Quintumply any word on if you own the disc version?
@R1spam if you own the disk version on Xbox you can't get the upgrade. No explanation have been given by Activision as to why.
Bit disappointed you have to pay extra to get the PS5 version if you already have the PS4 disc.
I’ll just continue to play the PS4 version for free? Still looks and plays great 🤷♂️
@Hyperluminal yeah I bought for xbox as it did checkerboard 4k at 60fps. To be honest, game looks pretty awesome already. The only thing that might tempt me to switch versions is whether haptic feedback for ps5 is good
@R1spam the activity cards may be helpful too
Great news!! Literally just grabbed the Deluxe Edition on sale and was disappointed in the extra 5 dollars spent, until now!
Get bent, Bobby.
COD: Cold War has the same $10 upgrade and it works even with PS4 retail version. Xbox doesn’t have this possibility.
I believe it’ll be the same with Tony Hawk.
Yes. Now I'm getting this one. I loved THPS 1 & 2 on PC back then.
Good news, even if it just reduces load times. I have Deluzxe edition, so nothing to lose. I would rather the news had been the addition of THPS3 levels though!!
This is exciting news, been waiting to play Tony Hawk .
