Cel-shaded city builder The Colonists will settle on PlayStation 4 this year, following a successful launch on PC a couple of years ago. The title – billed as a “relaxing settlement building game” – has been optimised for consoles, which means it’s got a brand new control scheme and a reimagined user interface.
“You take control of a team of self-replicating robots built to simulate human civilization,” the press release reveals. “After escaping Earth, The Colonists are now free to roam the galaxy in search of a new home and construct their dream settlement. You’ll advance through three different Ages as you build infrastructure for your colony by constructing road, boat and train transport systems.”
You can either build sprawling cities in peace or compete against other colonies in military scenarios. There’s a campaign featuring 14 missions which will span both of the aforementioned disciplines, or alternatively you can tinker with the settings and play exactly as you’d like to in sandbox mode. The game’s due out later this year, with no hard release date attached.

I'm always interested in city builders with a campaign. Count me in.
This looks promising.
If I'm not mistaken, colony wars was also a PS1 space game. Played the demo a few times. I miss demo discs. Used to have a cd holder full of them that was given to me as a kid but lost them years ago.
@JON22 I know this is an old comment but I used to play the Colony Wars games on PS1 myself. Red Sun (the third game) was my favourite but it was very bizarre in parts.
