Crash 4

Update: If you've been unsuccessful in your attempt to upgrade to the PS5 version of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, give it one more shot. We've received widespread reports that the problem is now fixed, and Activision also reports the "issue has been resolved". With more PS5 upgrades just around the corner, including Marvel's Avengers, let's hope this is the last time this happens.

Original story: Well, we really are in a bit of a pickle now. Some PlayStation 5 users reported over the weekend that they were unable to grab the free next-gen upgrade for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, with the issue seemingly affecting digital players across Europe. We covered the problem and assumed this would be a quick fix, much like what happened with Yakuza: Like a Dragon when the same issue arose. However, three days after the PS5 version launched, some budding Crash 4 players still can't upgrade to the latest version.

Troubled customers have responded in the comments section of our original article, reporting that the option for a PS5 upgrade isn't there. Members of online gaming forums are also unable to access the PS5 version despite originally owning the game on PS4. What is surely most frustrating though is that Activision hasn't issued any update on the matter since the problem was discovered. Writing on the Activision Support Twitter account, the publisher said on Friday: "We're actively investigating an issue where some players are having problems upgrading their version of #Crash4 from PS4 to PS5. Stay tuned for updates.

Except there hasn't been any updates since then and replies to the tweet itself have been disabled. To be fair, the weekend has just past so the team will most likely have been taking some time off. If this issue persists throughout the coming week, however, then there may be a larger problem at play here. We'll reach out to Activision and provide any updates should they be made available.
