As announced last week, Sony is bringing back its Play At Home initiative for a second year, as the world continues to grapple with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The platform holder has promised to expand the promotion this time, but it’s getting things started with Ratchet & Clank – the extremely enjoyable Insomniac Games remake which first launched in 2016.
This is available to download now. To clarify: you don’t need to be a PlayStation Plus member or PlayStation Now subscriber – anyone with an active PlayStation Network account is eligible to add the game to their library. Moreover, once you’ve redeemed it, the game will be yours to keep forever – your access won’t be revoked.
The release will be available for free until 31st March, so you’ve got all month to claim it – but why wait? You may as well do it now before you forget. By the way, we’ll be maintaining a full list of All Free PS4 Games and Offers Included with Play At Home, so do keep an eye on that page if you’d like to know what other promotions PlayStation has planned.

UGH UGH UGH. I just got this a couple of months ago with money.
@Blooper987 Still worth every penny.
I'm so happy more people get the chance to play this. Just in time for the Rift/Apart hype train too.
I gave away my physical copy with my PS4 Pro so I gladly claimed this. Technically I could've already claimed it from the PS Plus collection but I didn't and this is a better deal (in a pretty insignificant way but still)
You know, I feel like complaining about the lack of the Ratchet & Clank PS3 and PS2 games being on PS4 and PS5, but it's pretty obvious at this point that Sony doesn't give a ****.
Also, this game is worth every penny, so you should try it out while it's free.
@get2sammyb Have you seen ps+ has gone up to £8.99 for a months sub? 12 months is still £49.99.
Thanks. Already got the platinum through ps plus, but it feels much better owning the game than having it through plus even if only digitally
Will definitely be buying rift apart after being pleasantly surprised at how fun it was
@Loftimus where? 1 month is priced at £6.99 in the store...

Ok but what if you already claimed it through the PS+ Collection?
Actually almost got this when it was on sale in January but decided to grab something else.
Yay for avoiding the mild annoyance of buying this a few weeks before its free I guess.
@viciousarcanum go to the store page and click 'add to library'. Then you get to keep the game even if your PS+ subscription lapses.
Already got this on psplus but it seems I can get it free for real, nice.
Nabbed it (even though I had it already on plus). Thanks for the heads up!
I have just added this to my library again even though I had a copy from PS Plus. Just wanted to reiterate what others have said so people know they can claim the game even if they don't think they can!
@Voltan if you claimed the Ps Plus, you can still claim it now.
Now we can all get down to the Groovitron.
It was pretty good till the drowning stage, where I gave up after numerous tries.
I beg to differ here but I can only download the game and not reclaim it..what I'm missing?
@zebric21 if you haven't already got it installed on your system it might be a bit confusing. I already had it installed, and I could see on the PS store that there were two versions of the game there. One of them had a "play" button (because it was installed already). The other said "download". I clicked the download button, and it took a couple of seconds but the console recognised that it already had the game installed and it changed to "play", without the usual download process.
That "download" button was the button to claim the game for free, and after I pressed it, the console recognised that I owned the game outright instead of through PS plus (the PS plus symbol no longer showed on the game in the library)
If you don't already have the game installed, I assume you would still see two versions of the game, but both will say "download" so I'm not sure how you'd tell between the two (I didn't spot any other difference between the two)
@danlk1ng thanks for your help..ps store really needs quality of life improvements.
Curious as to what else people think will be coming up from "Play at Home" in terms of games.
I don't have any specific games I imagine will turn up, but my incredibly vague and unremarkable prediction is we're probably going to see a mix of titles from the PS Plus collection/PS Plus back catalogue (which I don't mind at all - a freebie is a freebie, even if it's just "owning"-ish something you currently only have through a subscription). I've only been on PS Plus since December so the more we get from the back catalogue, the better for me
(but I seem to think there are some games in the PS Plus collection that were never a PS Plus monthly, so one of these would be great for anyone who hasn't got a PS5 yet)
Smart move by Sony. Many people who never considered a ratchet and clank game before will try it out.
New fans will be created.
The new Ratchet and Clank releases soon so the hype will be high.
Playstation Stakeholders should be pumped
Just downloaded it.
It pays to be late to the party sometimes.
@Playstation same, I actually never played any other R&C (just a few minutes of Quest for Booty) games and I'd gladly buy a collection of some sorts
@Voltan That would be awesome
I own all the Ratchet and clank PS3 and 4 games (Even PS move heroes)
except the HD collection of the originals
would be awesome to have it remastered for the PS4/5
There is the ratchet and clank trilogy on ps3 but I don't think it's ever been ported to PS4 🤔🤔
@rpg2000 mobile app. Just checked again and its still £9.
I got it with the ps plus collection but now I have access to the game forever!
Wish they had included a new trophy list.
I think I own it now...though I got an error message that I'd need to delete the physical version's installation & redownliad the digital one if I wanted to play it digitally! A little odd,as I recall when I redeemed Until Dawn as a ps plus game it used the physical version's install file so I could boot it up no problems!🤔
@danlk1ng I made that mistake when Uncharted 4 was free. Had it on PS plus and could not add it as a free game then. This time I checked the PS store via a desktop browser and I had the regular option "add to library"...
@Blooper987 I paid around $10 for the game and don't regret it, well worth the money!
Still hoping the game gets a free PS5 upgrade before Rift Apart releases though.
Probably a dumb question, but why are there 2 options to download it?
Seriously one of the best games I played last gen, and the reason R&C Rift was the reason i wanted a PS5 at launch (other than enhanced BC for my sizable backlog...) That's a fantastic give-away.
@AJDarkstar Seems like work for Japan Stud....oh....wait...
