Sony's Play At Home initiative is back and it really is better than ever. After giving away Ratchet & Clank completely free of charge last month (you've got another six days to claim it), the hardware manufacturer has nine more PlayStation 4 games for you to download and keep forever. You don't need a PS Plus subscription — these titles can be redeemed and played whenever you like. All of them can be claimed on the PS Store right now, so head on over and get downloading. Even if you're not interested in playing one or two, you might as well grab the whole selection. It really needs repeating again: all of these PS4 games are entirely free and available to claim until 22nd April 2021.
The free PS4 games in question are as follows:
- ABZÛ
- Enter the Gungeon
- Rez Infinite
- Subnautica
- The Witness
- Astro Bot Rescue Mission
- Moss
- Thumper
- Paper Beast
When we polled Push Square users and asked what free PS4 game they're most excited to play, it was Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition which took the top spot. That's another free PS4 title part of the Play At Home initiative, but it won't be available until 19th April 2021. A bit of a wait for that one then, but Subnautica also seems to be tickling your lot's fancy. Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Rez Infinite, and ABZÛ were other popular choices.

Astro Bot, here I come!
Don't know what the status is in Europe, but it looks like SCEA's content delivery network is still catching up here in North America. Seven minutes after the hour and it's still just Ratchet & Clank.
@RevDrGalactus Update: Live in NA!
ABZU was better than I expected and a lot different too. On to the next one!
Already downloaded Rez and Gungeon. I’ve played about 200 hours of Gungeon on PC and I’m not sure about the controls on PS4. They’re... not exactly precise.
Already have Enter the Gungeon,grabbing the rest asap.
Thanks Sony.
I grabbed Astro Bot right away, will look into the other games this weekend.
Nice, claiming it now 😃
I'll give rez a go..have no idea what its about...some kind of rythm game? Any way it looks cool and chilled out and brings back memories of the lawnmower man and tron...
Looking forward to 'Enter the Gungeon'. That stupid punning name has put me off buying it for years.
It almost feels like they want us to go out and buy PSVR 😑 I don't get the point of offering up free games, and then having half require an optional (and expensive) peripheral.
@BrettAwesome they could have just easily given you nothing instead, after all, they don’t have any obligation to anyone to give 10 free games. Honestly, I can’t believe you’re whining about it because some of these games are for VR... C’mon man.
Gonna grab Astro Bot right now.
@deadfred77 Ha, I think I bought it years ago largely because of the pun. And I never really got into it!
Had a quick go of Paper Beast before work this morning. What an amazing game in VR!
@BrettAwesome
It’s about time we PSVR owners felt some love after limited joy with Plus. Also, it goes along with the escape lockdown rationale, flat screen gaming doesn’t transport you elsewhere in the same way VR does.
So does Astro Bot Rescue Mission only work if you have a VR set?
@XinGViruS
Yes, it’s a full VR game (as well as being one of the greatest games ever made).
Sony have truly given some of the best VR games around.
Also, you don’t need the move controllers with them, which was a great decision.
Just tried rez. Wow, that is an experience. I don't have psvr but i bet it's even better in that.
Watched some footage of Subnautica online, wasn't blown away but saw enough to pique my interest so downloading it now.
Also noticed that a few years ago I had added inFAMOUS Second Son to my Library but didn't download it. Doing it now though.
@thefourfoldroot Ah that kinda sucks then for me, I don't have PSVR but would love to play this. Maybe once the new one gets released I can still play this.
@XinGViruS
I wouldn’t count on the new one being compatible given the use of DualShock in the game, but I’m sure it’ll be released with an Astro Bot sequel. I would still recommend picking a headset up though, if you’ve been with plus a while you likely have a dozen games already.
Definitely will download some of them today.word up son
Got them all in the UK
Thanks i just added the ones i dont have to my library. Its funny i have several PsVR games and i dont even own PsVR lol
Damn, turns out Paper Beast is VR only as well. What does that leave for me to actually play on PS4, Rez Infinite?😅
On the upside, I only just noticed a "remote play support" tag on some games like Subnautica. The Witness, on the other hand, doesn't have one. Did they perchance start to tag the titles with adequate control schemes on Vita whose icon is specifically used for the notion here? Not to mention that it's probably the only Vita trace you have on the new browser PSS now.😅 Credit where it's due...
@TrueAssassin86x
Including plus and Collection games most of the best ones have already been given away. This happened to me with VITA, I eventually had so many games that the value proposition made it almost stupid for me not to buy one. I can see the same happening with others and PSVR, especially with many getting rid of theirs in preparation for PSVR2.
I’d definitely recommend picking one up for a couple of hundred if you have all the great games given on plus and this promotion.
The Witness was showing up as purchased on my ps4 😨 because of its ps plus redemption. I have managed to add it to my library from the PS App but I am worried it hasn't been added properly, no way to check really
Beware new gungeoneers. This game is a straight-up time vampire. It might seem difficult at first, but between the cohesive world building and thematics, fun gameplay loop, and killer soundtrack, you’ll likely be sucked in until you master it, whether it takes you 100 hours or 1000.
Did this really need three separate articles in the space of a few hours?😅
@thefourfoldroot The PS5 is my first ever PS (was always more a hardcore PC gamer), so had Plus since November only. For me it would be really illogical to still get the "old" PSVR, I am much better off waiting for the new one (no matter how long that will still take). Was just wondering/hoping this game would have some kind of non-VR option, as I had heard before how good of a title it is.
Hey, anyone else getting an error on Abzu? "We're sorry. This product cannot be purchased at this time."
@XinGViruS
Afraid not. I still think it’s worthwhile if you can pick a headset up cheaply (you don’t need the move controllers) simply because there are so many great games, and I strongly suspect it won’t be natively back compat on PSVR 2. But I get where you’re coming from.
Astro Bot is worth the price of a VR set. It's mind blowing.
Was impressed with the Paper Beast demo. This is great!
@rpg2000
Ok. So what if they had offered 3 PS5 exclusives, 3 Vita games, 3 VR games and one PS4 game. Would that be ok with you?
@thefourfoldroot
Good point! I never considered how few VR games were actually free with PS+
Maybe it should have been considered it's own platform in that regard? I don't know. I just thought 3 was a bit much, the installbase considered.
@BrettAwesome
Just 14 in total, plus Resi7 if you’re count the collection. Still, if you’ve had plus all this time then, including the collection and free games here, that’s 20 games you could have amassed. Including some of the best VR games ever.
I think those are worth the purchase of a headset, in the same way my collection of PS+ VITA games compelled me to get that device.
@BrettAwesome I know, then they expect you to have a PS4 or PS5 for the other half. It’s a total joke!
Love Subnautica! I was just getting into Stranded Deep but it has taken over as my survival fix.
@Slippship
You should definitely given Paper Beast a try if you haven’t already.
