The online functionality for LittleBigPlanet titles currently isn't available right now, and according to Eurogamer, it's all because one fan isn't happy with how Sony has treated the franchise. The person in question is said to have brought servers to their knees through orchestrated DDOS attacks, forcing them to be taken offline. The official Sony XDEV Twitter account has acknowledged the issue, stating: "Our LBP servers have been taken offline whilst we investigate some technical issues. We'll be back as soon as we can!"
Speaking to news editor Tom Phillips at Eurogamer, LittleBigPlanet fans claim the individual has taken various entries in the series offline in the past. They are also believed to be the reason why social media site LBP.me has remained unavailable since November last year. Strangely enough, though, the attacker is apparently not targeting LittleBigPlanet on PS Vita. Or maybe they just haven't gotten around to that entry just yet.
While LittleBigPlanet 3 was the series' last entry back in 2014, Sackboy has been given a new lease of life with PS5 launch title Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Perhaps the person in question really liked the Play, Create, Share aspect of those previous games? We'll be sure to update you all once LittleBigPlanet titles become playable online once more.

What sort of monster would do this to poor Sackboy!?
Bizarre.
I'm so worried over this whole bizarre situation man.
I'm so pissed yet I can totally see why the person did it. If I loved a game but it was treated poorly by the studio I'd be annoyed too but I WOULDN'T TAKE DOWN THE SERVERS FOR SAID GAME
Wth you are not a fan if you do this. And the above avatar creeps me out.
I personally think Sackboy: A Big Adventure is beyond better and more fun than any other LBP game, perhaps this person doesn't have a PS5 and hasn't seen what a great service Sumo digital did to the character although it did release on PS4 too so 🤔
Still think we need the original LBP bringing forward a console gen or two...if only for Uncle Jalapeños Boom Town!
Someone tell him to get annoyed when playing Fortnite.
Now that would be funny!
@Futureshark good lord could you imagine
If he was this mad over LBP then imagine if he was an F-Zero or Konami fan
@Futureshark Hahaha, that wouldn't be right, but it would be kinda funny. This is just dumb and no one wins here. People need to stop doing this. If you have that much knowledge, apply it to a productive job and stop throwing a tantrum over a game not having a fourth entry. Welcome to the plight of anyone who's a fan of different movies, games, anime, books, tv series, etc and wants a new entry that hasn't been made.
Is that ‘fan’ spelled ‘f-r-e-a-k’ ?
Just started playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure this week and it’s absolutely brilliant. Mm’s best game by far (and one of the best platformers I’ve played in ages). Those musical levels are something else.
Dang, is it that serious? It can’t be that serious. But I guess that’s how far people will go.
Fans were upset when Sony shut Gravity Rush 2's servers down a few years after release with no guarantee of a third entry.
Yet this guy is upset that the series transitioned to 3D with a new release so he shuts the servers down.
Is this bizarro Earth?
MM studio should make little big planet 4 for ps5, I think it will sells waay better than dreams.
@fR_eeBritney It's a different developer - Sumo made this one.
I don't really miss the "create" part myself - I never could do much creative with with it. I'm no artist (or level designer, apparently). I do miss the variety of levels people could make on their own, but you had to wade through a ton of useless sludge to find the real gems out there.
Keeping the multiplayer with couch play a key part, as well as keeping the collecting and dress-up portions, really kept the heart and soul of LBP for me.
... and still no one knee down advertisement servers...
@fR_eeBritney MM didn’t make Sackboy ABA they’re working on Dreams. It’s Sumo digital
What a sad sack, i bet he's a neckbeard haha
What an absolute knobdonkey.
@RobN Oh bugger. I didn’t even notice that 🙄 I was really pleased for them too (or Sumo as it turns out) because it felt like a return to form - I haven’t really enjoyed Mm’s games since LBP2. I know Tearaway and Dreams have their fans but I just found them terribly dull. Playing Sackboy, it felt like they got the fun back. Oh well, good for Sumo then I guess 🤣
Does anyone still play LBP 3? Best one was on the vita and won't be long before thats shut down
@Juanalf 100% agree with you, I think it was the best way they could of brought sackboy back. I just hope they can get sumo digital to do another one 🤞.
@Arugula I think it was "redefined" when that crazy chick shot Selena, or when that crazy dude shot john Lennon. Fanatics are nuts.
I think the word is "stalker" rather than "fan" at this point. I picture that man who chased Alan Partridge through a field
Wish a 'fan' would have some fun with GTA online 🤣🤣
Perhaps Rockstar won't make the next installment of GTA span 3 gens 🤦♂️
That said, it's completely useless effort, imo. Mostly pisses off fellow fans and I really don't think MM will listen.
Did any of such DDOS attacks ever change anything for the better? Honestly have no clue and can't be bothered to look it up. Pretty sure someone can pull the answer from their SSD as mine is comparable with a floppy disk 🤣
@fR_eeBritney Sumo made LBP on the Vita too, which to me is the best version of the classic style gameplay. They are a great developer (also made the Sonic Racing Transformed series)
Interestingly looks like they are recruiting for some unnanounced AAA projects:

I joke but this sounds like something Chris chan would do.
"currently isn't available right now"
At the moment.
What a Little Big A hole.
Horrible little miscreant..
Sony should really consider releasing a LittleBigPlanet Remastered Collection for PS4/PS5, the LBP games were just as popular as the Uncharted games, so a Remastered Collection featuring LBP1, LBP2, LBP Portable, LBP Vita, LBP Karting & LBP3 on PS4/PS5 would be pretty sweet.

This is my childhood, and I'm sure it is for many of you other sack folk as well, however this rift raft has stopped our childhood. I was so pissed to see my friend tell me the servers were hacked, i wanted to cry, but when he said they will be running again, I felt a bit better, but still bothered by the fact that this jerk kicked the servers offline for quite some time. Hope it gets fixed very soon @SonyInteractiveEntertainment.
