We appreciate it’s a cliché, but the weekend sure does come around quick lately. After the theatrics of last week’s State of Play – and the nonchalant announcement of a new PSVR headset – this week was practically glacial. Let’s hope things improve soon, eh?

Well, I'm hooked on Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Specifically, running my business in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I'll probably be doing that.

It's all about Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS5 this weekend. I'm really enjoying playing through Ichiban's mental adventure again, even though I absolutely hammered it back when it released on PS4. I'm hopelessly addicted to the can collection minigame, however.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
Thanks to PlayStation Plus, I'll be playing Final Fantasy VII Remake this weekend. I have next to no attachment to this series, so it's going to be a real learning experience for me. Thus far, I've played for about an hour and a half. Cloud seems like a right barrel of laughs.

After my recent JRPG binge, I've decided to finally get back onto finishing Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. I've had it since the PS5 launched and until now, I'd only briefly dipped in, but I'm finding myself hooked on it. It's very easy to just dive in and swing about the city. Otherwise, I'll also be playing Gnosia and – if it arrives in the post – DOOM Eternal.

I understand the disappointment that the March PS Plus version doesn't include the future free PS5 upgrade, and consequently it won't get Intergrade's Episode Yuffie either. However, for me as a AAA, 11-month old release, which also achieved second place in Push Square's Game of the Year 2020 awards, Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the best PS Plus games so far.
That's everything we're playing this weekend, but what about the rest of you? What will be keeping you busy? As always, let us know in the comments section below.

Playing river city girls on ps5, this game is expensive at $20 after discount but man it's so worth it, the 2D graphics are great, the music is awesome especially the vocal tracks like the "gym pool" and "mall", the story is funny and interesting, the gameplay is great, and since the stage isn't linear but more natural (the settings is in town), the stage can be used more than once for more gameplay hours. I think this is my favorite wayforward games
Also playing outriders demo on ps5, I really enjoyed the game story and gameplay, it's like a mix of destiny and infamous and there's actually a compelling story. I don't like the always online requiment though since this isn't a live service games like destiny or the divisions 2, so maybe I'll wait for a psn discount. Or maybe buy it physicals if I can find region 1 disc on my local game store.
I have one trophy left to get in Nioh's base game, I need crafting materials from two different bosses including the final boss and I just can't be bothered even though defeating them is easy peasy now... so I think it is time to move on.
But I'm not sure what?
Haven't quite finished Persona 5 Strikers yet, mainly because I got caught up in replaying Borderlands 3. No doubt I'll be playing both of those as well as slowly making my way through the first 15 hours of Yakuza: Like A Dragon PS5 to catch up to where I was on the PS4 version.
Playing some thimble weed park and night in the woods for a nice easy chill weekend.
Astro's Playroom on my brand new PS5! 😃
Finally playing through Mortal Kombat 11 on PS5 after receiving it for Christmas. I think it's the first MK I've actually played since the 2nd one in the early 90s.
Giving Cyberpunk another go but this time on PC and as the PS" has just turned 21 I'm going to have a play of some of it's excellent library, just where to start 🤔
Shadow of War and Concrete Genie. Like them both but really they're both serving as filler until I fire up HZD for a second time.
Shadow is more of the same all the time but riding a graug is a lot of fun and the segment involving the balrog was pretty cool. After fighting that thing my respect for Gandalf has grown.
😉
Genie is a pleasant little game. I'm no Picasso but generally I'm quite pleased with some of my creations. I think I'm getting close to the end now.
Have a good one y'all!
Started Remnant from the Ashes the other night with a friend in co-op and we got our arses kicked on the first mission proper. Going back in tonight with pimped up weapons and a grim determination to rain death on everything. There's a chance our arses may get kicked again.
Yakuza 4. Must say it’s the worst out of all the Yakuza I’ve played so far (doing them in order from 0). The speed of movement is glacial, the need to keep switching characters late game is tedious, having to keep dodging cops with Saejima is incredibly annoying, and just little nonsensical things like the weapons dealer only selling certain weapons to certain characters annoys the hell out of me (especially when going for the weapons master trophy challenge); and, talking of trophies, not needing to master the mini games is a big letdown compared to previous games.
This is just the gameplay, the story through half the game is not great, at once drawn out and only touching the surface of characters. Only picks up in parts 3 and 4.
Still, the worst Yakuza game is still better than most others games out there!
I’m also dipping into Tesla vs Lovecraft. A great top down shooter on sale for under £2 at the moment.
Guns gore and canoli .excellent indie game with a amazing art style.the legendary final fantasy 7 remake one of the best games ever made.gta vice city easily top 5 video games ever made.my favorite indie game ever the magnificent darkest dungeon.and the funniest games ever made and a 😎 cool game south park sticks of truth.and watching the final ncaa college 🏀 basketball.my Michigan wolverines playing tomorrow.word up son
Went back to Fallout 4 and met Paladin Danse for the umpteenth time, the characters and voice acting in that game is just one of the best ever! Playing Ratchet & Clank too thanks to PS' free thing. Then it's some DiRT Rally and the game that makes it hard to enjoy a lot of other games - RDRII...of course.
Been playing dragon Quest Xi s for the last few weeks, so probably continue that
Should have Persona 5 Strikers finished this weekend. It's been so so good!
Only a week left now and then it's back to work after another 2 months off shielding so all my Game time will be sucked dry.
Making the most of what I have left with Immortals Fenix Rising...60 hours in and still quite a bit left..love it!
Persona 5 Strikers...obviously I love this too it's..Persona!
Have a great weekend all.
Was playing a bit of Shadow of the Tomb Raider on PS4 as have it from PS plus. I like that you can use retro Lara models, though I still prefer the more platform based gameplay of the older ones. I did play through the reboot on PS3, but got bored playing Rise. Will see how this one goes.
Still playing Dirt 5 too, usually in arcade mode with the soundtrack to SEGA Rally on the Saturn in the background. I think its a pretty good arcade racer.
Vikings and cowboys. Just bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my 3DS so I'll be getting stuck into that too, see what all the fuss is about.
Mortal shell ps5 upgraded edition...no save bug and so nice...also remnants from the ashes which is also good and another game outriders seems to be a nod too as well...where was the pushsquare review of remnants?
Have started Nier automata few hrs in, it's ok at moment going to carry on with it for now. Tempted to get Yakuza like a dragon but not sure I want to start adding games to backlog, also got the FF remake to download too, so just have to decide what to play and stick with it lol
Finished Dark Souls 2 thus completing my first playthrough of all the From Software Soulsborne games (I haven’t finished Sekiro and may not go back to it)
3 hours into FF7 Remake and loving it so far. Also downloaded Nioh for my next Souls fix.
@carlos82 great collection. The answer is obviously Timesplitters 2 😉
Just chipping away at Dirt 5, part way through chapter 3 of the career mode. I'm not one for trophy hunting, but I'm confident of a platinum on this (it does look like a very easy platinum to be fair)
I am 135 hours into Persona 5 Royal, which i hope to finish and platinum this weekend so that i can move on to P5 Strikers.
All the while my small stack of PS5 games remain sat there in need of playing. Yakuza arrived last week, but i will probs jump into AC Vallhalla first
Sackboy all the way this weekend!
Just started my first play though of the Witcher 3 on PS5. Kinda hoping for the PS5 upgrade by now.
Somehow i’ve Become hooked on COD Warzone. I’m not one for a FSP multiplayer usually but taking a leaf out of @sammyb’s madden experience, I’ve stuck with it, researched a little and now having a blast.
Most likely Sea of Thieves again. I managed to get the plat in Ghost of Tsushima the other day, and next week I will be playing through Dirt 5, as that came on game pass last week.
Playing a hand full of games along with daily games of Madden and Wreckfest.
PlayStation 4: Trying to play through Assassins Creed 2 via The Ezio collection. I'm trying to make it my 11th platinum as the original version was my first platinum on PlayStation 3 also just downloaded Oddworld: New N' Tasty for a play though before Oddworld SoulStorm hits.
Over on the Xbox 1 front Outside Madden and Wreckfest i'm playing Resident Evil 7 Biohazard before Resident Evil Village hits. Also playing Kona and the Outriders Demo. I was hyped for the Outriders but the Demo kinda cool me off from it.
Nintendo Switch: The Original Legend Of Zelda via The NES App. As someone who has never played the original i'm not feeling the history behind this game i Dont see why its so popular and fyi im 34 and not some kid playing for the first time. On top of Zelda i'm also playing Pokemon Shield.
Giving final fantasy 7 remake ago first time playing the series
I've got to the end of final fantasy xv and I'm not high enough level to get passed the rest so back to grinding a little.
In the middle of a few games, but started Atelier Ryza this week and am gonna try to stick with it for awhile. Have a good weekend.
Yakuza : Like a Dragon and Black Ops - Cold War for me. Y7 is that addictive I'm having trouble coming off it to make progress in the latest battle pass 🤣
PS4 - GTA Online with friends tonight while I eat takeaway chicken lol.
Switch - Smash Ultimate practicing Pyra & Mythra.
AC Valhalla, early days but it seems fun enough
I am starting Assassins Creed Valhalla tonight. So, I will see you all in two months.
Currently focusing on PS3 games. Making my way through Ratchet & Clank: Nexus at the moment.
Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls, hoping to get lots more played this weekend as I was busy with other stuff last week. Also doing some more Your Turn to Die and Super Mario Galaxy.
I'm also in the mood for starting something new, maybe Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (aka Fatal Frame), or perhaps a rhythm game.
Even more Cyberpunk. Also bought Detroit: Become Human. Really wanted to like this, but good god the camera angle and the positions the camera defaults to really make me feel like I'm fighting against the game just in basic movement. Might grind on a little further, might not, but so far I'm disappointed.
Getting some quality scares in RE2 Remake , love it so far, just escaped out of the police car park.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Final Fantasy 12. Filling the bestiary. When it is almost done there will be no excuse not to fight Yiazmat and Omega Mark.
I'm getting so close to the platinum. I must get it to complete my trio of ps2 final fantasy plats.
@Mintie “If you don’t get on the plane with that trophy you’ll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but soon, and for the rest of your life.”
Just kidding, you should play whatever you want! If you liked Nioh-maybe a From game next?
@Westernwolf4 It's one I'll go back to when I pick up the Collection when it appears in a sale and if i can transfer my save over.
I've had a long run of Soulsborne games of late - Platinumed Demon's Souls and Bloodborne back to back as well as AC Valhalla and 13 Sentinels for a change in flavour (13 Sentinels was phenomenal btw)
I'm in the mood for something different or smaller in scope to tide me over until MH Rise
Pokémon Blue Version (GB) - Arrived in Cerulean City and began clearing out the trainers on Nugget Bridge and heading towards Bill's cottage.
Wordament (Android) - Still playing nightly
Fruit Ninja (Windows Phone) - Also still playing during downtime.
Nioh 2 I just unlocked the underworld
@Mintie good luck finding a good one-I always pick a short game in between longer ones for a change of pace. I just finished the single player campaign in SW Squadrons for that purpose.
I am glad 13 Sentinels is good. It is patiently waiting in my backlog, and I am looking forward to it.
Immortal Fenyx Rising. I've been really enjoying the game.
Sackboy, Concrete Genie & Dying Light
I finally got back into Tekken 7. Practicing some combos with a few mains of mine. Also playing Yakuza Like a Dragon and Street Fighter V.
Enjoying the sh*t out of Remnant
With my penchant for being hopelessly behind, I've just started Control, which seems about as weird as I'd expect for a Remedy game.
I'm doing what Square Enix want me to do and that is platinum ffVII remake on ps4, then wait for Intergrade to become dirt cheap on ps5.
Will I ever see the end of Persona 5? If I don’t, it’s not for a lack of trying.
I’ll also play some The Outer Worlds. For some reason I’m really bad at this game. I didn’t die this much in Bloodborne.
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Ah nice man, so Days Gone is doing it for you? You'd recommend?
@Ajfennell77 My friend you're for such a good time. It was first experience as well, going in with no expectations made that game a masterpiece for me.
@playstation1995 enjoy stick of truth, its so good! Love the whole parody of the console war stuff.
Playing more spiderman remastered on ps5 and just started bully on bc on series x. Man those controls are rough but that rockstar magic is there (though so is the mashing A to run!)
@R1spam. Oh yeah.the gameplay is amazing and the characters is funny.word up son
@TraCuz- that's what I hope to happen but what I've played so far it's really good
@Ajfennell77 Yeah it's just flat out amazing, best combat I've ever played. Use your materia often in battle, the more you use them the faster they level up. Keep me updated on your progress in the "What are you playing on PS4" forum
@TraCuz- I shall keep u updated hopefully its a long game and thanks for that I will do that in battles..and playing it on ps5
Still been chugging thru my backlog so I can feel free when Returnal, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Ratchet & Clank, and FF7R Intergrade release.
Currently the backlog consists of:
-P5 Royal -Nioh 2 -Little Nightmares 1&2 -RE7 -Metal Gear Solid 2-4 -Gravity Rush 2 -Tales of Beseria -Ni no Kuni 2
Definitely got enough to hold me over until June, happy gaming yall!
@Ajfennell77 Yeah it's a decent length, you'll likely spend ~40hrs with the main story+side quests. And there's still more challenge battles to do once you beat it if you desire.
Playing Lords of the Fallen, it's seems ok so far. Also I will be starting up Steins; Gate Elite.
Yakuza. That is all.
I got the itch for an old favorite, New Vegas. My last save file is from 2016. Switching over to my PS4 and i plan to finally start Assassin's Creed Origins.
After my parents got me a PS5 and Sackboy (and spider man), I have fallen in love with LittleBigPlanet. I love this one guys Disneyland levels in LBP3, I play them with my Mom and Dad so we can get Disney vibes from home.
@Goat_FromBOTW That's dope bro
Seeing some of the Tomb Raider 25th anniversary stuff this week has got me craving some classic Lara - she only played for sport!
For me it's mostly Jedi Fallen Order (via a month of EA play for 79p) - which I'm absolutely loving - and maybe a bit of the God of war playthrough that J:FO rudely interrupted.
Am also installing an NVMe SSD into my PC and moving my OS onto it - from an SSHD so hoping for a much snappier experience (it's held back by it's graphics card at they moment though, so not likely playing anything other than PS3/early PS4 era games)
In finally decided to try Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity and it is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper mid.
I am FINALLY digging into Ratchet and Clank on PS4. It's my first Ratchet and Clank game that I've ever played (I had a Nintendo 64 growing up, so I didn't get to play the old games) and, my goodness, that game is so much fun.
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L cheers. Might end up taking a break if it gets too mind bending. Just got my COVID jab, and if I react the way my partner did I'll be struggling through some casual stuff.
Yakuza 4, and so far loving it. Yakuza 3 was a bit of a let for me (yes I know it's a game that hasn't aged well), I just feel 4 seems to be where the series got the balance between quirky and story down.
Pulled out the old 3ds today and out of the 30 odd gsmes ive got for it i csnt put cooking mama 4 down. I also got Yakuza like a dragon for ps4 after readiung the ps5 review ahn hearing every saying how good it is on ps4. 2 chapters in and its ace 👌
I picked up yakuza 7 on PS5, was humming and hurring between this and Assassins Creed Valhalla. Glad I did, just finished chapter 2, it’s scratching a lot of itches, namely felt like a jrpg, and as a sega boy at heart it’s great for that nostalgia feeling. So far 9/10
Danger Drink Monopoly Smash. Every time you land on Chance or Community Chest you do a shot. If you land on someone's property, you do a shot. If you go to jail, you do a shot. If someone else owns Park Lane or Mayfair and you land on it, you do 2 shots.
Final fantasy 12 zodiac age, 27 hours so far.
KH3 Just watched about 2 hours of videos to get me somewhat up to date on the story. Looking forward to joining Mickey and the gang on a wonderful adventure!
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L cheers, although 12 hours in I'm already running a fever of 38.5°C, so my current hope is just that this is the worst it gets.
Marvel's Avengers. Can't begin to describe how much I hate the loading screens. They take forever and arranging a match with a friend could have been so much easier...
But alas, the action is really satisfying.
I'm on episode 3 or 4 of Death Stranding and genuinely don't know how I feel about it all. It's as infuriating as it is absorbing. The menus are a convoluted nightmare, the product placement's the most aggressive I've ever experienced, the story.... Christ, where do you even start with the story??? And yet I keep on going, trundling back and forth between grumpy old curmudgeons and sycophantic weirdos, never getting bored or annoyed enough to quit. Kojima's clearly done something right, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if I know what that is.
I had a pretty good session on Gran Turismo Sport and I started Final Fantasy VII Remake early this morning. It's slowly growing on me.
Been hooked on DayZ with a couple of mates since Christmas.
It's a terrible game, but it's a brilliant game. We rented our own server a couple of weeks ago, and it's taken on a whole new life now that we can make some progress without getting killed by some random every few hours. We did fear that removing that element may make it less of a challenge, but it hasn't really... we've each died several times, but are having some real fun exploring and learning the different elements the game offers... stuff we never survived long enough to try on public servers.
It's real rough diamond... great fun, but could still be improved in so many ways.
@carlos82
Great collection. How can you choose which gem to play first ??
@Martijn87 with great difficulty 😆
I started with the more arcade like games such as Ridge Racer V and Burnout 3, bit of Timesplitters 2 and then some missions on Vice City and The Simpsons. Might sit down and play Scarface properly tomorrow
@LordSteev I totally get your sticking points but it is worth seeing through to the end, when the choices you’ve made really start to manifest in meaningful ways. As a whole, I found it to be a worthwhile experience. Hank in particular was a really enjoyable character.
Division 2, started playing after PS5 enhanced patch dropped 😎
@carlos82
I can imagine. Great choices. Really wish they would make a new Ridge Racer, those were some fun race games. You inspired me, Going to hook up my PS2 and play some Burnout 2 and Tekken Tag 😄
Do I start Days Gone or Persona 5 next? That is the question. There's probably a ton of other things worth playing in my library that I don't even remember about lol
Sackboy: A Big Adventure!
@theheadofabroom I feel ya! Got mine Saturday and felt rough by that night and all day Sunday. Mostly back to 90% come today though.
@tomassi fever ended up spiking to 42°C for a bit, but since about 24 hours post-injection the fever has been gone. Now I'm just feeling sh*tty because my chronic fatigue says I've been overdoing it and must pay... Damn body, who do I call for an RMA? My parents take no responsibility and neither will the NHS!
Back to topic: ended up playing a lot of Bridge Constructor and I swear they've changed the physics, making some of the bonus levels impossible with the tanker...
Assassins creed valhalla. It's ok but not as good as origins or odyssey.
@Jimmer-jammer
Ok, I'll stick with it, but I've got to be in a patient mood to play it. I've done dishes, picked up trash, vacuumed a dirty house, and tidied up a few bedrooms, all while having a camera that seems to want to default to a close up of the nearest wall. Not at all what I expected. If I wanted to tidy up, my own house sure could use it, lol.
