Assassin's Creed Valhalla's first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, has been delayed. It was meant to arrive on the 29th April, but it's been pushed back a couple of weeks to the 13th May. The DLC sees Eivor sail to Ireland, where battles with bloodthirsty cultists ensue.
Ubisoft hasn't given a great deal of information on why the delay is happening, but it does say that it wishes to "deliver a more refined experience". In other words, it's likely been pushed back to ensure a certain level of quality, which can only be a good thing.
Indeed, Assassin's Creed Valhalla endured a rocky launch, and it's been plagued with (mostly minor) bugs ever since. In truth, it could have done with a few extra months in the oven, so delaying this DLC is probably the right call, seeing as another troubled launch would only add to the developer's woes.
Ubisoft also says that it's preparing "an article to provide transparency and share insights into the development process". We'll update this story if said article has any relevant information.

That's a pity. Was really looking forward to this. It's not often I get to play a game with Ireland as the setting.
Didn't even know this DLC had a release date, but a two week delay isn't that much of a big deal.
Being Irish, I am looking cautiously looking forward to this. I just hope the accents are better than that guy's in Rogue. I can't even remember his name but it was atrocious.
@pushL7 I'm not even Irish, but the number of horrendous Irish accents in video games is borderline offensive. About time a lot of these games got actual Irish voice actors in to get the job done properly. Same with Scottish, or even English in some cases!
Is it a tenner at CEX yet?
@LTPenguin like Forest Gump before he regained full use of his legs.
I have a feeling that there will be a load of delays this year, working from home is going to bite them in the posterior eventually. 2 weeks isn't long at all though.
Playing the main game now. I’m getting really bored of the bloated nature of recent Assassin’s Creed games. Game goes on forever, and even on PS5 it has lots of bugs and performance issues.
Think I’ll get a break from AC for a few years after I finish Valhalla...
Funny, I really had no major problems with it on my Xbox Series X other than screen tearing which was fixed early on. I played Cyberpunk 2077 next and that made Valhalla look perfect in comparison.
To deliver a more refined experience,
Damn, where did I put my LOL emoji again?
I was wondering when the dlc was out, guess that answers it, not too bad since returnal will be out around that time.
When they cannot even fix horses having no sound when riding, I have lost faith in this DLC. I'm contemplating deleting the game since it's taking up 60+GB of PS5 necessary space. I know PS5 now allows me to transfer to external HDD, but it's quicker for me on my internet plan to just redownload.
That’s a real shame as it has been pushed into Mass Effect - so it’s likely I and many others won’t get to this until the summer at the earliest.
Well more time to complete the base game then I guess
Sad news about the delay, but hopefully it'll be less buggy at launch.
